  1. If you figure out how to email, I'd like to see the vid also. [email protected]
  2. Jodie I'm so sorry to hear your news. If it were my dog I would not go for chemo. It may destroy the cancer but in the process it with also destroy your dogs immune system. There have been a number of threads on alternative treatments for cancer and it isn't all 'holistsic mumbo jumbo.' I'm the worlds biggest skeptic but I have seent he results for myself. I know how you must be feeling, we recently lost the family dog to cancer and if it were one of my guys I'd rather chew my own arms off than even contemplate loosing them. Try not to dwell on the bad 'what if's' there is much to hope for
  3. Showed some of the guys showing off their tricks at the dogs day out. I was too far away from the TV to hear what was said, but they sure looked very impressive!
  4. Did you get the info about the fun day on the 18th? It's going to be so cool! Anyone see ADT's team extreme on the news?
  5. I missed the drama also! But whatever happened YB, let other people worry about their green eyed monsters, you know that what they are saying is not true and that it what matters. Speaking for myself I have certainly never considered you a 'win at any cost' person and I thought we all used eachother as a source of information so that our training skills may benefit and that was the whole point? Share and share alike I say! I though we were all on the forum because we enjoy the exchange of information and welcome thought provoking discussion on training techniques. Happy training
  6. That's good to hear Anne, i'm glad you liked it! I was late getting to the pool so i didn't drop by because I figured you probably would have been finished already. Should see you there next week though
  7. I loved the two pitbulls! Such ambasadors for their "vicious child killer" breed...both of em sitting on their owners laps and sooking all day
  8. Wow Phatdex, I didn't realise your dog had never done any obedience and heeling! It looked impressive, but now that I know that I'm even more impressed, he was even giving you some great focus!
  9. Loved it Huge thankyou to Steve and also to LL for having us! Appologies to the DOLer's whom were there and I did not get to meet, I tend to just focus on Loki when I have him out and forget my manners Loved everyone's dogs they were gorgeous! Just so you all know, Loki isn't always how he was today. In a place he is comfortable with if there is no people or things he doesn't know well he is a normal dog. Very active and confident, all grins and keen to do anything, especially jumping Thanks again!
  10. Sure it can, some of the additives in commercial pet food can affect dogs just like some colouring and flavouring can affect kids. Plus, you are waht you eat You may have some success with a change in diet, but I think it more likely that addressing the behaviour itself is the way to deal with it.
  11. Boy Jodie you and Ollie sure have had a rough time of it! Be realistic about the diagnosis but don't lose hope, many cancers are treatable with conventional and/or natural therapies. There have been a number of threads on the subject. I hope everything turns out fine
  12. OMG I'm getting so excited only one more sleep
  13. Sorry CBL I tend to disagree, you most certainly CAN go wrong with 2 puppies. I'm not saying it's not a consideration because two dogs can tend to keep eachother occupied but as well as twice the fun it's more than twice the trouble. Getting a second dog should NEVER be a solution to a behavioural problem, very often you will just end up with two dogs that pull washing off the line If you are prepared to treat this issue in addition to getting another dog and can care and provide for a second dog and YOU actually want another dog then go for it, but not just as a quick fix, because believe me it isn't I love my two dogs
  14. Bah, whats 15 minutes! So long as your dog will be ok in the back with the chicken (aka Loki). I'll come get you. PM me your address.
  15. I only just twigged that it's not over the western side of the city, which is what I thought ;) Tollers I'm coming from Montrose. I don't know if Pakenham is between here and there?
  16. Wow Cheyenne, we must have some kinda mental telepathy link going on, you posted almost exactly what I wanted to say in alomst exactly the same words!!! The only thing I would suggest differently is to do the enviromental enrichment and the bad taste on the clothes at the same time. Make sure the taste is something your dogs doesn't like, don't assume that they won't like tobasco/chilli/vicks etc because I have met dogs with very unusual tastes! ETA: The aussie dog toys seem extremely expensive at first, but they are the very best. When you consider the value in terms of how long they will last (pretty much forever) and that you won't have to spend $2.00 every other week buying your dog a new toy because he is bored with the old one, they are priceless.
  17. ISH why didn't you say earlier? Now i'm used to thinking of her as Chilli as in the food! I'll try and remember ;) LL I must have missed the obvious, is the seminar at your house?
  18. Quoting my own post for emphasis ;) This statement is particularly important because pulling washing off the line can be a sysmptom that your dog has a need that is not being met, IE he may not be getting enough excersise, stimultion etc. If that is the case then you can stop this behaviour (pulling washing off the line) using a preventative measure like moving the line, but you will not meet this need and a new outlet will be found, perhaps barking at birds, digging up your garden etc etc.
  19. Ok here's the thing: Clothes on the clothes line hang down at a dogs eye level and flap around in the wind, which can kick in a dogs prey drive and cause them to start this habit. Preventing access to the line would be the easiest way to guarantee 100% success. Fence it, move it, put chicken wire on top of bricks around it etc. If you can't do that you could try pegging the clothes horizontally rather then yertically so he can't reach them, or a bad taste on the clothes. Also look at what the dog has to do in the backyard and what kind of enrichment he gets from toys, excersise, interaction etc. If there were things to do that were more fun than pulling washing off the line, your dog would do them.
  20. Erny, would you mind PMing me the details of the agility club? I'd love to take Loki! The last club I took him to for just agility were complete nutters
  21. I think he should be rehomed given that they have children to consider. You could try the rescue forum but he would have to be desexed, but he definately should be anyway. Like Erny said, it's not really posible to give a decent assessment of the dog and chances of rehabilitation without seeing him, but unless you find a trainer or experienced handler willing and able to take him on, the only really responsible course of action i can see is to have him euthanised. Hopefully it doesn't come to that...
  22. I can't see why with proper training you can't do both.
  23. Agree with Allerzeit, a natural diet and supplements can be a very beneficial part f treating cancer in my experience. There are also lots of alternative treatments like cryo-surgery, ozone therapy, immuno-augmentive therapy etc. If yuo search the forum you will find testimony from many people who have succesfully treated or prolonged their pets life (and quality of) after being diagnosed with cancer. PM me if you want more info. But remember, it could be just a bump and all my finger and toes are crossed for you
  24. Not at all Nekhbet, I think your comments are right on the money and aimed at ensuring the OP understands what they are asking for
