  1. Glad to hear she is doing well Anne With the tablets, I found the easiest way to give them to Jaida was to push them down the middle of a piece of that cruddy dog roll stuff at the supermarket. Not sure if you can give Sophie that though considering the diet she's on? Thank you everyone for your support and thoughts at this time, it is much appreciated. I miss my girl so much
  2. I hope it's something simple and easy to treat J, fingers crossed for you
  3. Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Jaida went very peacefully, it really is like they're just falling asleep. The last thing she did was give me a kiss as if to say it was all OK and she was just fine, and then she went to sleep. RIP Jaida, my sweet and beautiful girl
  4. Thank you Jodie Jaida has not woken up any better today, she is ready to go. I however am not ready, although I don't think I would ever be ready. Jaida will be given her wings at 1pm today
  5. Thank you everyone. She has been tired for a long time, just not this tired. While before she was still keen to get up and about on her own, today she just hasn't moved, not even to go to the toilet, unless I have really encouraged her out. The fact of the matter is Jaida is going to be PTS, whether it be tomorrow, in 3 days time, a weeks time or a few weeks time. The important thing is that she is not in pain or unhappy or without dignity during however much time she has left. I feel that she does not want to go through another day like today, and I will not do that to her. She deserves to go with her dignity in tact and while she is still comfortable and happy. I understand for others the ups and downs might be different. The area that Jaida's lump is in however makes it very difficult for her to get up and down and turn around while she's on the floor etc. With the last growth spurt of the lump her mobility has lessened again, to go much further at all and risk it growing even more I feel is just not fair. The leg has started to swell and she is feeling pain when I very gently touch it, that says to me the bone is being eaten away and is becoming much more fragile. I will not risk her have that leg snap and go through the agonising pain that goes with that until I can get her to the vet. I would much rather err on the side of too early than too late.
  6. I hope it's something simple to treat, poor little guy
  7. This is what I've seen from her today. I wasn't so sure that I would know, I was told I would though and I've seen it today. I do hope it's just a bad day, but I don't think so. The vets are aware that Jaida may be coming in tomorrow for her last visit, the kids' grandparents are also ready to take the girls if I cannot look after them tomorrow night...but OH couldn't get the night off work
  8. Yes, Jaida is back on the Tramal. She's eating but isn't very keen to, she doesn't want to get up and she isn't happy.
  9. I'm sorry to hear that Sophie has had a bad day Anne, I hope you both are coping OK today  Jaida has gone downhill today. Her eyes aren't as bright and she's not very willing to get up, her coat is coming out and she's just so very tired. Her lump has grown overnight, it's sudden growth rates like that are just unbelievable...if I weren't seeing it for myself I just wouldn't believe it. I think it is very close to her time I have made further inquiries today about euthanasia over the Easter period, but if Jaida is like this again tomorrow then she will be given her wings
  10. Glad to hear she is doing better today Anne, will be thinking of you and Sophie on Thursday and hoping for a good report for you Jaida is better today with the cooler whether, wagging her little stump around and her eyes are bright.
  11. Sounds like yesterday was pretty tough for both of you Anne, I hope that today is a much better one. The heat here has knocked Jaida around a fair bit and her lump looks to be a little bigger as well. She's still doing OK though, eating really well and getting around on three legs.
  12. Thanks bigdogg I have already spoken with someone and I believe this is the way to go with this particular dog, and if it's useful in the future for other dogs all well and good. I will be getting the manual from K9 Force that has been spoken of in this thread as well.
  13. Thanks for the feedback everyone. SB, interesting to get your experience with the collar so far. The dog I want to use it on also has a crazy level of prey drive and just has no focus...well he has focus, just not on the commands I'm trying to give! I would love for him to experience more out of life, being off lead and doing the fun stuff with dog training, such as fly ball and agility, but he cannot be trusted when not on a lead. My partner and I are looking to definitely get a good collar as soon as we can afford one. It will be well worth the investment to give my present and future dogs much more freedom.
  14. Well, I think the drops are helping...she's back to whacking me in the knees! I hope Sophie is doing well today Anne
  15. Thanks Jodie, she's been eating chicken breast while I've been cutting it up tonight and wagging her little stumpy at me
  16. Thank you BP Jaida is doing well again today, no Tramal again either. Will definitely keep it on hand should she need it, but so far so good on just the drops I'm glad to hear you're doing OK BP, I'm sure that Kiesha is missing you guys too I hope Sophie is having a good day today Anne
  17. Yep, I am finding they're helping with her pain. The first sign I get with her that her pain is increasing is rapid breathing. She has been really, really good today with pain. She's had none of the Tramal, her breathing is fine and she's getting around OK but still mostly resting. She very rarely puts any weight on that leg but she seems happy enough hopping around on 3.
  18. I am so sorry Hannah :D RIP Maggie-moo
  19. Oh no, poor Ollie dog! I hope that it's just an infection and some antibiotics will have him bouncing back again in no time. Thinking of you today
  20. Anne, as the others have said you know what is best for your girl. I completely agree with you with keeping her safe from anything until you know what's going on with her liver Jaida has mostly been taken off the Tramal (as they sedate her too much) and is taking herbal treatments instead from Robert McDowell. They were very kindly and generously given to me by Anne and I am so very grateful for her help for me and Jaida. She has only been on them for a little while, but is taking all the drops really well on her food and seems to be doing much better than when she was on the Tramal. The treatment time is 2 weeks and then the dose is dropped after then for maintenance. Hopefully Jaida will continue to improve. For now she's happy wandering around and wagging her tail. She's still much quieter than she used to be and the cats are wondering why she's not hassling them all day. BP, how are you doing? I hope things are OK for you
  21. This is how I am doing things also. Jaida went out the other day to the river and she loved it. She was tired that night and the next day, but she was running around down there and had a big grin on her face and that's what this is all about...giving them the best time they can have. She's having another quiet day today, but she's still eating really well and seems comfortable and the heat knocks all the dogs around a bit as well. Anne, I am also finding other lumps on Jaida. She has a small one on her foot and a slightly larger one on her neck now too just behind her ears. I hope Sophie is doing well today and I hope you are feeling much better also
  22. So sorry to read this RIP Fergus
  23. I am so sorry Puggles RIP Miss Mollie
  24. Oh no, this is my worst nightmare also...getting 9 out all in one piece on my own RIP Kelly
