  1. I use hot dogs as treats but generally dry them out in the microwave for about 5mins first(cut into small pieces first)and that way they don't leave that slimy feel on your hands and will keep a lot longer than if being fresh
  2. Thankyou all for your suggestions. Will have a look into that product shepherdpower, much appreciated
  3. Hi, Just had a couple of questions I wanted to check on before I start using these items.I'm contemplating trying zinc on one of my dogs who apparently has auto-immunine disease.Vet did not do any tests at all when diognising it,was simply made after my girl has had a constant cracked nose for over 12 months. She also tends to get sores on her skin from time to time anyone think it may be worh trying zinc tablets and if so what dose would I try?She is on a mix of Artemis and raw The other enquiry is regarding colloidal silver and it's use for a dog that gets ear infections(my parents gsd)I suddenly thought of telling them to try colloidal silver and wasn't sure if you just wipe ear out with it or actually syringe it in and leave?
  4. Well,I finally got to meet a lappie puppy today As posted previously I am contemplating a lappie as my next dog and a guy at obedience today had a trailer on and had a couple of puppies in there. One was a long coat german shepherd puppy and I couldn't believe my luck when the other was a little female lappie puppy whom he only picked up from airport yesterday. She was just georgeous and I got to have a pat(still in the trailer as she has not had next lot of vacs) I am looking forward to being able to keep an eye on her over time as I had never met one before to make sure I am making the right choice with my next dog

  8. I'm hoping i never have to find out Erny!I just got it out and run my hand along it quite fast a few times but does not seem to bad but that could be a different story if I ever had to make a grab I just love thats it's so compact and can fit into the bottom of my treat bag so you always have it handy. I had it at training on saturday and as one og my gsd's has not been to training for so long and can be a bit reactive to other dogs, when it was time to do a sit stay I just whipped it out and put it on her and went back the distance the lead was and just held the handle
  9. I purchased one of these light long lines from air dogs the other day http://www.airdogs.com.au/agility/product....=255&page=1 but was not aware it was so thin.Anyway once I got it I googled the brand it was to see if there was any mention of the materials used as there was no mention on the Airdogs site and found out on the Genuine Dog Gear website it's actually parachute cord.I'm imagining it would have to be pretty strong to be used for parachutes http://www.genuinedoggear.com/GDL-LGHT-20-...ning_lines.html . I didn't particuarly like the size of the clip they used so replaced it with a stronger one but love the compactness of it.Was able to pop it in my treat bag under my snap lock bag and can take it anywhere. Just wondered if anyone else has one and If you found it reliable?

  18. When I fed my lot tonight I gave the 2 shepherds a roo tail bone and there regular Artemis Biscuits which they have had many times. One of my girls all of a sudden let out a scream and left her bowl and raced up the back yard and was pacing. She than vomited up some of the biscuits and frothy stuff but was still not herself and paced some more, vomiting again.I checked the roof of her mouth and the back of her throat but all was clear. I did try ringing my reg vet but it was just after 5.30pm and I wasn't really sure if it was an emergency.I went back out and she eventually came back down and seemed fine so i have had her inside keeping an eye on her.She is drinking ok and I gave her a little soft food and she ate it ok. What I'm wondering ,should I be worried that it may cause any internal damage?I'm gathering she didn't chew the bone properly and hurt herself swalling it.Should I ring the vets tomorrow?

  21. I had contacted Dogquip to see if they happened to carry any training vests and they told me that they don't have a vest however have a Reward Carry bag(DOGQUIP D1720 REWARD CARRY BAG )but they don't have any pictures of it so just wondered if anyone happens to own one they could post a picture of ETA-I have asked for a picture but they said they are working on one but I'm not sure how long that may take them though

  24. something like a Shedding blade should help http://www.twobigdogs.com.au/bamboo-adjust...ding-blade.html .I also agree with a furminator although I have found with 2 dogs of the same breed ,it may work well on one and no use what so ever on the other one.You can get them heaps cheaper on ebay and they appear to be the geniune ones as well as there is a lot of copies out there these days
