  1. Cherrybrook Vets is awesome, I have taken my animals there for the last 10 years and they are terrific!!!
  2. Our dogs never touched the stuff, we feed Joint Guard. It's a heaps better product! And no smell or taste!!
  3. If it's for arthritis, my Mum has a dog that was on Metacam, she has done a course of Pentosan & has been using Joint Guard for quite some time now, and has now been able to cut out the Metacam, and only uses it on the odd occasion that the dog has overdone it playing with the younger dogs!! There are generics available of Metacam, I think it's just called Meloxicam which is put out by Troy.
  4. I saw them yesterday in Big W for about $10
  5. Call the company that manufacturers and ask them about long term use.
  6. I called the company that manufacture it, and it's okay to give the "twice a day" dose, once a day.... if that makes sense.
  7. There is a greyhound supply website that seems to be quite cheap, my mother in law buys from there.
  8. Is she digesting her food properly? Should have something like EPI? You could try including something like Thrive D or Enzyplex into her food...
  9. Pentosan Polysulfate needs to be stored in the fridge!! It is an S4, so it needs to be administered by a vet, and can only be purchased by a vet through an ethical wholesaler. Zydax and Cartrophen are more expensive to buy, I know that Pentosan 100 is in a bigger bottle (20ml) and works out to a lot more cost effective!! (Which is what we use :D ) The vets I work for, charge per ml, plus an injection fee for each needle, and an initial consult fee for the first injection (if it's being diagnosed there) So for Mum's Labrador, it's approx $30 an injection. Also, the product is registered for once a week injections for 4 weeks on a 12 monthly basis. There is no scientific studies to state that doing a course every 3 - 6 months is beneficial, it's all just trial and error at this stage.
  10. I have a reflective dog lead, which is made by Prestige Pets.
  11. If my memory serves me correctly, I think Brett's partner use to work at Tuggerah Vets near Hungry Jacks.... That is from a few years ago, so I could be really wrong..
  12. There is a swimming pool for dogs out at Londonderry from memory, not too far really, just up the M2/M7/Richmond Road
  13. Maybe talk to your vet about a product called Denosyl, it helps to support the liver function and detoxifies the liver. If there is a shunt present, it isnt going to change the shunt, but it will help the liver to function and make your dog feel better. We have used it a few times in the vet practice I worked at and it is really good.
  14. We have been using Joint Guard for a few years now on our Lab with joint issues and he has been doing extremely well. He has hip & elbow dysplasia and it hasn't stopped him from being active. He hasnt been on non steroidals for years and gets top up of Pentosan every 12 months. My mother in law has recently started her dog on Joint Guard treats and her dog is a new dog!!
  15. My mother in law uses Coast Animal Health - Wyong, they're on the Pacific Highway. They're actually in Tuggerah. They have found them to be quite good. My Step father uses Coast Animal Health at Kanwal and Doyalson Vet Hospital and loves both of them She has used the one further up in North Wyong and didnt like them at all.
  16. My concern is for other chicken products that look similar to the Kramar ones.... made in China.... Dukes Chicken Breast Fillets are made in China...
  17. I was in the supermarket tonight and the breast strips have been pulled from the shelf. There was no sign up or anything stating that the product had been recalled. Shouldnt they have a sign up notifying people?!?!
  18. I just went to that site and noticed all the Chinese writing next to the products.Doesn't give me much reassurance... I've e-mailed asking where their treats are made. I think the best thing all of us can do is go out buy our own dehydrators! You can make all sorts of jerky and treats, such as chicken breast, liver, fish, sweet potato, the list is endless! And a much cheaper option too. I have a packet and it says Australian Made on the packet!!
  19. Can someone please PM me the name, as my Mum buys Chicken Breast treats and i'd hate for them to be the same ones
  20. I was in my vets recently and they had a sign saying the same thing as what you stated, I also did a bit of research. I feed my dog Fit N Flash dehydrated chicken breast, it is made in Australia, but isnt available everywhere, it seems to be select vets and is about $12 a packet http://www.qcity.com.au/index.php?c=109&p=270 There is another brand called Dukes Chicken Breast which is made in China http://www.qcity.com.au/index.php?c=51&p=271
  21. I use Comfort Spray http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/product.ph...&bestseller It is citronella based though.
  22. Cartrophen is not related to Rimadyl, you're thinking of Carprofen which is the drug name of Rimadyl Cartrophen is a very different drug. It is used for arthritis generally, it helps stimulate joint fluid production among other things.
  23. Perhaps try Thrive D? This may help, I've had a friend use it on her dog that wasnt doing too well and it really helped.
