Transporting A Puppy Interstate
Paptacular! replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I used the webform too. It asked for a postcode, so I'm thinking the enquiry would have been passed on to the nearest office. Sounds like the one nearest you isn't very reliable. I sent an inquiry to Jetpets a little later in the afternoon, would have been after 5pm AEDST so hopefully I get a response tomorrow. -

I sent an email to Dogtainers after seeing this thread, and I got a response within half an hour. It must have just been the particular Dogtainers office you sent the email to. The signature on the email I received back was from the Darwin DT office. -
Transporting A Puppy Interstate
Paptacular! replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Portia was flown to Darwin from Melbourne (with a short stop in Sydney) with Jetpets. She was 4 months old. At least one of my current litter will be travelling interstate and personally I am waiting until 10 weeks to send him. I feel that this gives him time to get over his vacc at 8 weeks and grow up a little bit more. I haven't started making enquiries with the transport companies yet, so I suppose I should start now in terms of getting quotes etc. -
The article doesn't even say which councils are considering this. When I'm looking to move there in a few years time there is NO way I'll consider living in councils that implement these ridiculous laws.

Thanks for the results, and congrats on your puppy of breed!! Inter bitch RUBOB is Portia's sister Dakota

Do you know which papillon? This show's a local one for Portia's breeder, so hoping it was one of hers.

Big congrats poocow and Flynny!

Poor pups, and poor owners who will eventually take them on. Who knows what other defects may be present and may lead to decreased life span? As well as the expense of the 'wheels', I'm sure there will be various other huge expenses throughout their lives. I would have PTS at birth as well.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that producing a hermaphrodite is genetic? As in, not passed through linage, but rather just a mutation? Still, it bears thinking about if there were any outward signs the breeder should have seen.

Unfortunately the weather over the past few weeks has been good for ducks outside, and not dogs! I'm hoping it will clear up during the week, but it's not expected to within the next few days.

Do You Refer To Yourself As You Dogs "mum Or Dad"?
Paptacular! replied to shells's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs have 2 mummies. (That's me and my Mum, hehehe). My dad is 'daddy' and my sister is their 'sissie'. Their collective name is the babies or the fluffies. -
My 6 week old babies are being little terrors!! I scrapped using newspaper a week or so ago because they were starting to rip it up and changed to wee mats. They started dragging them around so I attempted to anchor them underneath the edge of the puppy pen and with their water bowl on another corner. Came home yesterday and there was a large hole in the padding with white 'snow' scattered around the pen!! So they've lost wee pad privileges too for now. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative that is undestroyable?

Is there a link to the schedule? Just wanting to find out when paps are being judged.

I would see if the stud owner can put you in contact with the owner of the bitch he is being mated to, so you can build a rapport with that breeder. I can't say I've heard of any arrangement where a stud owner has said 'sell this person a puppy'.

Best to make sure they're dog savvy. We've used 2 different house sitters in the past few years. One was dog savvy and everything was fine. The second wasn't quite so dog savvy. Nothing wrong with the dogs but the house didn't smell too flash when we got back.... don't think they were being let out enough.

He looks like a Murphy to me.

This is a good link with lots of information. Like this Current Descendants of the Dalmatian Pointer Cross are at the 12th generation. In the 12th generation, the Pointer is one of 4,096 dogs, thereby contributing 0.0244% of the genetic material in that generation to the next generation - the 11th generation. From the perspective of the entire 12-generation pedigree, the Pointer is one of 8,190 dogs and contributes 0.0122% of the genetic material to the progeny. These percentages appear miniscule when framed in comparison to the sire and the dam of a litter that each contributes 50% of their genetic material to their get. They are the same about the bob tailed boxer .they are up to about 12 generations just here in Australia but they still carry on about them being mongrels. Mongrel dogs or ignorant dog breeders? And so they are. I have no probs if a crossing is done for a health benefit, properly researched and with a breed that is similar in construction and temperament to the breed to be crossed. The Bob tail Boxer was a cross with a corgi, and an admitted cosmetic flight of fancy. They were accepted into the UKs Studbooks going even against their own rules and the first dog to Australia came out with gaps on its pedigree. In addition the Bob tail that we are now stuck with in the breed is not an original Boxer trait, and as this is not being bred out but rather retained I will never see them as anything but Borgis and crossbreds. This is designer dog breeding if it were breed development the Borgi would have it's own breed category separate from the German Boxers Gene pool. If a crossing had been done to obtain help eliminate say ARVC in boxers I would not have a problem. Steve I am actually quite disgusted that you of all people can't see the difference. The Borgi was never created with the welfare of the breed in mind. They are here now, but they should have their own breed subcategory - English Bobtail Boxer Those of us who don't want to play roulette with our puppies tails have no want of this misshapen gene. I can see the benefits of incorporating the pointer into the dalmatian gene pool for health reasons.... but the corgi into the boxer gene pool for purely cosmetic reasons has never sat quite right with me.

Fingers crossed for you and Lola!

In a pinch the last day or 2 I fed them My Dog puppy. Never again, smelly poo! This morning I broke the Advance in half and they managed fine with that. After a few days of this I'll try whole ones and see how it goes.

I gave each pup a piece of dry... 2 of them thought it would fun to swallow it and bought it back up eventually, giving me a heart attack in the process. Might leave it a few more days.
