  1. I had a recipe some years ago that had a small amount of dissolved gelatine added to the turkey mince or what ever meat you are feeding. It gives an added feeling of fullness and satisfaction. edited for spelling..

  5. Thanks Stans Mum, look forward to meeting you Kiwibum, and yes Snook, donations can be made to the Vet, as Stans Mum said there is a thread in rescue, with a post from the Vet too. Every little helps, and we are halfway there. :) Thanks guys, Trish
  6. Great news, hugs to you Stans Mum, well done.
  7. We are having a Sausage sizzle at Petstock, Main North Rd, Parafield, on Saturday 12th May, to raise money for Jessies surgery. Please come along and have a snag and help this gorgeous girl. See Rescue thread. This is Jessie. She was recently rescued from the Port Augusta pound where she dumped by her previous owners. As you can see she has a deformed left front leg, which was the result of a neglected injury from when she was a puppy. When she was rescued, she was taken for her first visit to the vet, where the advice was that as one of her growth plates had stopped growing, the result of the injury was her leg bowing over. Jessie was referred to a specialist given the extent of the injury and the much needed surgery to give her a fulfilled life. This surgery will cost $3,000 which is the cost of materials only, the Vet Dr John Punke is donating his time and expertise to help Jessie, which is an unbelievably kind and generous act. We would love to see lots of you there. :)
  8. Great news that the surgery went well, she is so sweet.
  9. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, he is just too cute, I'm sure they'll fall in love with him, who could resist those ears ?
  10. Any concerns Deadwombat had could have been raised in a courteous manner, without the smartarsery. Jess and Trish, I have spoken to Fiona and am donating to Jessie's fix-my-leg fund. The lovely Jessie thanks you.
  11. Yes you are right Donatella he is a spokesperson for GAP if I remember rightly. He has adopted two greys. Thanks, thats another avenue for us to try.
  12. :mad + 1. Must be very disheartening to see that kind of response when you are genuinely trying to help a needy dog. I can understand this posters thoughts though - someone new on the forum asking for funds straight away within their first few posts. Esp with the amount of scamming going on these days. To be honest, something like this was running through my head until one of the DOLer's I'm familiar with said this was legitamite. This post was very hurtful to those who have been busting their boilers to raise money to help this dog. What some people forget is that there is many dishonest people in the world which makes it hard sometimes to see when people are being honest in asking fordonations. Heck there was a thread recently about someone using a well known DOL users rescue ads to try and scam money. Take a look from it this way. A new members FIRST post is asking for donations of money. You know nothing about the poster other than what they've told you in their post. To me, without knowing what we now know, had my alarm bells ringing. You can't blame people for being on the defensive in these circumstances. Maybe DeadWombats post was a little harsh, but I can see both sides, and initially had similar thoughts. My post was not meant to be hurtful or upsetting (I think it's mine being refered to in your quote TrishM???) if it was, then I apologise to the OP. It was Deadwombats post that I was referring to, it was very harsh and uncalled for. I do understand that there are dishonest people in this world and it is a sad reflection on society today that we feel this way, but the fact that donations can be made to the Vet concerned should allay any fears that anyone may have. The Vet involved in Jess's care has been so caring and generous, it is enough to restore ones faith in human nature.

  14. I have met Jessie, she is a beautiful girl, who is cat safe, great with other dogs, and is lovely with children, her suitability for rehoming is beyond question. Jess herself has spent hours sewing collars and coats to raise money for this surgery. The local media has been contacted, but to no avail. She has been desexed and vaccinated, she had never been to a vet before Jess took her for her vaccs. Hopefully she will be coming to live with me after the surgery, I have put as much as I can afford at this time towards her surgery, with the consideration that there will be more vet bills in the future. I will be getting her assessed for her green collar by GAP if I am lucky enough to have her join my family. Jess is in the process of organising a bbq at Bunnings, she is trying all avenues to raise the funds, not just 'begging'.
  15. I haven't been there for quite a while, but the Colonel Light Vet clinic on Springbank Rd Colonel Light Gardens has some good vets.
  16. This reminded me of a name my son gave one of my very naughty Burmese kittens..SOAC....s#*t of a cat.
  17. I used to clip a black poodle called Vegemite, and a tiny maltese called Killer, the owners husband was a truckie and was away a lot, so she figured if she called out "Killer" any suspicous character would take off expecting a rotty or similar to come bounding to the front door.
