  12. Hi I didn't read all of the replies but we had a collie who had 3 legs he got hit by a car this was when I was very young, he had a plate the vet left it in to long or something's and the bone grew over it, he got cancer and they removed his left front leg mum and dad said he recovered very well and you wouldn't of even known he ever lost his leg he lived till he was 18-19 yrs old he was 7 when he had the operation. My parents said they would do it again if they had to. Good luck hope everything works out for your cat
  13. So sad ....my parents lost there 21 year old silky few years back after she had a fit and fell in the pool we had fencing but she got through between the bars my mum was gutted and blamed herself. Hugs to all who loved her

  15. My friend has a shitzu x maltese he was at the vets a few months ago and she was told he had a yeast infection, he was doing really well she thought it was gone, i saw him yesterday and he did not look very good, skin had gone dark, missing fur he looks awful. she is taking him to the vet in the morning but i just wanted to see if i can give her some advice. she is pretty worried about him. i dont know much about it but but would a change in diet help him?
  16. my dogs sleep in the lounge room in there beds every night when OH is on night shift Lilly will come into our room and sleep next to the bed all on her own but if OH is home she will stay in her bed unless she comes in to let us know she needs to go outside, both are pretty good we do have weekend cuddles in bed though. I have 2 cats that sleep on the bed i have a round cat bed in the middle and they both sleep on that i also (unless its freezing the want to sleep on me, i do have a blanket on top of our bedding for the cats as well that i change every few days.
  17. One of my sisters has an Italian greyhound Benny was a rescue dog and is very good with her 4yr old and 9mths old she had benny before she had her kids and he has adjusted well he cuddles with them and my nephew even pushing him around in a pram lol. and best of all he doesn't need brushing lol if you don't have the time with having a young child. There house backs onto a park/oval and he is very good off a lead but she did spend the time with him to train him and is great with all of my families dogs whcih inculde a GSD 2 collies 2 maltese a silky and a great dane as we are all often together at my dads property,
  18. When my parents moved over here from NZ we brought our collie with us i asked dad the other day why and he said he was part of our family and us kids would never forgive him if he didn't... i would sell everything i possibly could just to take my animals with me....but if that was not enough i would not be going...but i know that is easer said than done in some cases we are all human and most of us do the best we can...10 grand is alot of money if you don't have it in the first place i hope im never in that situation.
  19. i liked being asked if i would like to pay more for a stronger pain killer after desexing of course im not going to let my babies be in pain.
  20. you also may find alot of breeders will choose a dog the best suites you or what your after, i have had this done for me with both my dogs... good luck
  21. very very sad im finding Bella and Lilly have that bond which i was surprised really when my OH took Bella to the vet last week Lilly was left behind oh my she cried and cried i had her inside with me trying to keep her mind off it every time she heard a car off to the front door when hubby got home Lilly ran up to Bella and licked her all over make sure she was ok ... my dad has a GSD she is a big girl was his new wives dog and she is just stunning and great with the my nephew, but the fur they lose OMG so much more than my collies i said to dad don't you ever complain about my girls they lose nothing compared to the GSD
  22. its broke my heart when bella use to look for chloe we had to get Lilly pretty much straight away i called my breeder 2 days after she past as bella was not coping she was even going to "loan" me a dog till she had pups ready thankfully it was only 3months or so.....you forget how human like they can be they grieve just like us
  23. i don't normally come on rainbow bridge as i always leave feeling sad just wanted to say hugs to you and i hope each day becomes a little easier, i also wanted to add i made a scrapbook of my collie when she died a few years back she was the dog i had as a kid and one of the reasons i love collies so much, the book did help even though i cried my eyes out when i was journaling about the photos it helped to know she was no longer in pain.... i also have been doing one of my mum its sort of self help i guess ...xoxoxox
