  1. Just heard that they surrendered the dog to Blacktown pound just now. .
  2. My friend is actually my bloke's friend and he only mentioned it in passing. He thinks the pound will be ok and that I am too soft. The morons probably got the dog off gumtree when they were bored. .
  3. I am trying to convince them to hang on for a week but the girlfriend is not budging. I am with Great Dane rescue so I have all the rescue contacts. They just want to dump the dog today. Best I can do is get it into a low kill or no kill pound. people suck. .
  4. I'm in rescue myself so I know the issues of fostering and no spaces. There are a few no kill pounds in Sydney but I can't remember which ones. You can surrender a dog anywhere I am sure. I just want to see if this dog can get a second chance. .
  5. This is probably elsewhere but I couldn't find it. A friends adult son is about to surrender his dog today. I am trying to get them to take it to a no kill pound. Usual story...... lovely mastiff cross. No training, new baby, owners are idiots, pup hits 14 months old and starts destroying stuff. Don't get me started..... I would take the dog here but other half has said no today. I just want to get it to the right place. They are in the hills area. Thanks folks. .
  6. Ok....D day is this saturday. If anyone can help for an hour I would love some extra hands to hand out how to votes. The more the merrier. I have a reasonable chance of winning but some extra help would be great. .
  7. Thanks everyone. Its going to be a hard race to win. If you can please share my facebook page or make positive comments on it. The more "traffic" it gets the higher it appears on search engines and that helps my campaign. .
  8. Thank you.....!!!! I will have a really bright orange t-shirt for you to wear. .
  9. Hi all, I have decided to take a leap and run for the role of Mayor of North Sydney in the NSW Local Government Elections this Sept. I have permission from Troy to post this. I would love people to "like" my facebook page and to check out my website. I am not politically aligned and I follow the style of Ted Mack. I have helped many on Dol over the years and I have been involved in rescue since 2002. I am on the board of Great Dane rescue and I have helped many groups including DCH. Its about time we have some Dolers in political office. Two people on my team have rescue dogs and all are very supportive of rescue. Please check my pages out and like if you are comfortable. thanks facebook link here website here Ps..... I do not usually look so corporate. Thanks Troy.......
  10. Get a second dog. My first rottie was a total sook and scared of her own shadow. once we got a second dog she became more confident and both barked as soon as they heard anything. Choose a dog that your first dog likes as they will be spending all their time together. It took meeting lots of dogs at the pound and rescue group to find the right dog but we had 10 years of perfect dog relations and I was able to sleep at nights with the front door wide open and I live in the inner city of sydney. No one could step inside the gate without my dogs going off........ .
  11. Panzer Attack! .....you are a fabulous person for accepting that you have an illness`. You don't have an easy one that is well understood by the community like MS or diabetes. You have an illness that in 50 years will be treated very differently but until then anorexia will not receive the support from the general community that its sufferers deserve. You didn't choose this but you are on the path to accepting this and moving forward. You will go down some dark paths yet but always remember that you are loved and cared for by strangers who can see what a good person you are. When you are down.....find this thread and remember how everyone reached out to you and offered you support. Cuddle your dogs and rejoice that you have them. You are special...... get better and then pay it forward to someone else in that dark place. Hugs xxxoooo .
  12. Is there a local vet there who could board him for the two days. I am sure that people could help with some money to board him if we can't get anyone else. Where is GTE picking him up from?? .
  13. The greatest gift you can give is to let them go when the time is right. We love them so much. My heart still breaks for my two I lost last year. You had the chance to say goodbye and She knew she was loved. remember that. hugs .
  14. She is very cute....... but she looks like my Great Dane x did, so she may be even bigger than they expect. .
  15. I had four dogs until recently when two died within three weeks of each other. I live in a tiny semi in the heart of the inner city. .
  16. We have two delightful blokes who are each driving these two special Danes to their new home. The second bloke has taken leave from work and he is driving them from Sydney to Adelaide with lots of wee stops on the way. Its at least a 14 hour drive one way. People are truly wonderful....!!! .
  17. Thanks folks..... we think that its now sorted. A very darling man is going to collect the two and drive them the whole way from up near Qld all the way to Sydney. .
  18. Danes squish to fit anysize....... We are waiting to hear back on an offer to help.
  19. There is a show at Stroud this Saturday. is any one from up north coming down early for that show? Stroud is only an hour from Newcastle. Good luck with finding someone to take them to newcastle. What sort of show is it???
  20. What about Coffs Harbour to Port Macquarie anyone??? Its a two hour leg...??? anyone....???? .
  21. Sorry to post this here but we are a little desperate on this one. We are trying to get two Rescue Great Danes from the North Coast to Adelaide. They cannot fly. (we have tried all options) One is deaf and he depends on his sister totally. We have managed to find them a home together. We have most legs covered but we are urgently trying to find someone/s to get them from Coffs Harbour to Newcastle. They have a ride Sat morn all the way to Adelaide, that we want them to catch. The drive from Coffs to Newcastle is just under 5 hours. We can help with petrol money. Lots of cuddles and slobber from the Dane are a given   Anyone with some time on their hands??? Friday is the best option but Thursday can be organised. .
  22. My daughter had a Belgian who only died late last year at 12 years old. She had a heart condition. We took her to Animals Tracks at Homebush where they are great. They looked after her for years. We travel from North Sydney to go to these vets. They also look after my Dane and Rotties. Phone number 9764 6066
  23. Many years ago I spoke to a neighbour who constantly let her dog out into the street unrestrained to roam in the evenings. I told her that her dog could harm another animal. She refused to supervise him and told me that he wouldn't hurt a fly. Three months later he broke into my fully fenced front yard (Its 5 feet high) and killed my 18 year old cat who loved sleeping on a cushion on the front porch. I took him home to his owner, (as he was now stuck in my front yard) and explained what he had done. She was horrified. I truly think she didn't believe that he dog would act "like a dog" She offered to bury my cat but I declined. I never mentioned it again but she became a better dog owner after that. She started to understand that her dog would atack and kill if left unsupervised and it never left her yard without a leash again. .
