  1. Don't underestimate yourself WA! Peach and I have won multiple class in groups/shows/challenges and she is my first show dog
  2. I'll be doing it with Sparky next year! Peach won't be elligible until 2012 but it also depends on when she is having babies, so she may be 2013!
  3. I like it when its written too Benshiva, OH likes it as well so its on the list!! Showdog - Im such a bad mother my dogs have never gotten to play with a frisbee, we bought sparky one but he ate it before we used it
  4. Ooh I do like Awaytome Benshiva! Really I would love something that links to the Aussies, just not have "aus" or "aussie" in it. Another on my list is Persica - Its part of the latin name for Peach Tree.. I also have 'brightspark' But I think its a bit long, as everyone keeps telling me, the shorter the better, so i'm trying to stick to 8 letters or less! Yeah, Mine and OH's names are Kristy and Andrew so theres nothing really spectacular that you can make from them!
  5. He ate the Brand New BBQ cover today! No love tonight for the doodlebug!
  6. I love it too. Sparkle showed amazing instinct when we took him for his first herding clinic. We won't ever be breeding Pointers, we have a boy and that is MORE than enough, he is a pain in the butt! (Sorry Doodle!) Thanks for all the suggestions so far.. Much to think about!
  7. This was me and my dog had a total freakout every time the judge went near her for close to two months. We kept at it, huge rewards for behaving herself, constant show training outside of home, and getting strangers to approach her on walks did wonder for her confidence. Peach is also extremely food motivated, but gets sick of the same treats. I cook up chicken thigh fillet for shows as bait sometimes, I make sure our ring bait is much higher value than a normal treat, which might help as well? Are you still thinking of doing show training at Hillsborough? There is also weekly training at Cessnock although it is a bit more relaxed, Anne is lovely and will help you enormously, she did with myself and Peach
  8. My three adult dogs are on 100% home made raw, and the puppy is on a mix of raw and Proplan dry. Once he is an adult he will be moved to 100% raw like the others.
  9. Hi Guys, The time has come for me to get my prefix.. But im having trouble thinking of good idea, there are alot of creative people on here so though I would ask for some (extra) help. I have Australian Shepherds, but dont really want anything breed specific (OH shows a Pointer so it wouldnt make sense anyway) Im happy to have anything that links to the aussies personalities though, whether it be a working word, a mix of names - my boy (although he is a pet, my first aussie and my first pedigree dog) Is Sparky, 'Comeby Smoke And Water' and my girl Peach (my first showdog) is 'Tuscamada Peaches N Cream' Any suggestions will be most welcome, anything else you want to know, just ask! Thanks!
  10. Rory I have nothing starting in the ring next year
  11. My goals for next year are: To get the final points for my girls Aust. Ch. To actually get some points on OH's Pointee. To have as much fun as I had this year! And it might get pushed into 2012, so we will see, there may be a mating at the end of the year for Peach (if i can find her a suitable husband!)
  12. On sunday Ive been showing for a whole year This time last year i was shitting my pants and getting help from anybody who offered! (thanks AshleyB, NF - Who loaned us their gazebo for the day and anybody else who helped and Ive forgotten )
  13. I love my wonder wash for my girls white legs and feet!
  14. I had a great time! Definately worth the drive, Deb, Zipper BOB and Scarlett RUBOB Friday, Cody BOB and RUBIG Zipper? RUBOB Saturday, PEACH BOB and JIG Yesterday and Zipper RUBOB
  15. I think I'm about 95% packed! dogs are washed and drying in their beds, Just have to put some bedding into the trailer and the show suits in the car, and plonk the gazebo's up on the roofracks. Then wait for the tagalongs to arrive, pack their stuff into the trailer and off we go!
  16. Ons, here is my dog, and me Im sure I will be the only red merle Aussie there! We will also have a blue boy and Im sure he will be the only one with a tail :D I'll also be taking Flynn, Pooeys dog on Thursday! PS - Im super short, look downways and you'll find me!
  17. I'll be there! Fingers crossed it stays dry!
  18. I like taking my guys for one long walk, Cant always, I have two adult dogs, an oldie and one young puppy. Lately ive been running the adults off our bikes (aussie shepherds) and the Pointer baby and the old lady get taken for a walk.
  19. I love my Nissan X trail, My three big dogs fit in the back, and with the seat down, I can fit my 42 inch crate in, fully assembled. Havent tried with the seats up, but I still had to put four dogs in there! Julesp - :D
  20. We have four dogs and make it work with routine. We are on a double income, no kids. We have a mini foxie cross, two Aussie Shepherds and a Pointer. Food - Buy in bulk and stock right up when food is on special/discounted. I buy woolies out when cheap meat is reduced, Petbarn here have a fresh meat section and they discount their meat when it is getting closer to use by date as well. Last time we were there we got 47 kilos of meat for $51. The pointer is the only one on dry food (still growing) and I recently got a voucher for 25% off a product in Petbarn, so went and bought a big bag of dry for him and for $25 off. Bedding - The three big dogs sleep in crates in their bedroom (our third bedroom) That have been bought second hand off ebay. I make all my own bedding for inside the crates. Health care - Generally, not much, they are fairly healthy. Worming tablets are bought in packets of 100 to save money, flea treatment is split from one/two tubes, if its needed. Walking - I can take all four at once by myself, or OH helps if he is home. We go generally every second day, some weeks every day. We have also just started running the Aussies off the bikes now they are both old enough. At least once a week they go somewhere different, whether it is to my mums house for a play with her dog, to the offlead park, or swimming. Probably the biggest expense to date was buying a bigger car to fit them all in
  21. Ditto to SB here, tough titties if the owner doesn't like it, but won't do anything about it...
  22. Like when the car breaks down and you have to re-set up until someone can rescue you? :p
