  1. Is that the normal or the vet grade Clyde?? Vet grade. I just finished the bottle today and wondering what to try next.
  2. I use Champion Tails whitening shampoo for horses on all coloured dogs and the results are amazing. It is also cheap as chips. Just be aware that some of these shampoos contain soap and will therefore strip out flea/tick preventatives.
  3. I've got a few big dogs booked in tomorrow but my back is stuffed. I was wondering if anyone would be keen and capable of washing/drying a Rotti, Sibe and Golden? It's hard physical work and all three dogs are head strong. Paid work of course, PM if interested. Terrey Hills, Sydney (near St Ives).
  4. I'm glad you've posted this Stormie. I'm wary of new "cute" type products but saw this the other day at the local pet supplies and ummed and ahhed about it. I will buy it next time and give it a go.
  5. I'm in the same boat. I've recently been using the Evening Primrose Shampoo. I find it okay, but no better than how Aloveen was working for us. It might be worth a try for you though.
  6. No And to top it off they kept rising and now only the very tips curl over. They're an abomination! Perhaps you could take some photos and photoshop her ears ;)
  7. I'll throw in one Stafford too..... but wait there's more. If you make up your mind today you can also have one limited edition Shihtzu who pisses in the house when the grass is wet
  8. I could do him here (for free). However he must have served his quarantine time and be two weeks past a vax if he was impounded. I don't do hand stripping (sorry Leema :D ), but I can give him a good going over and see if that helps him at all. Would have to be a Wed/Thurs/Fri tho' at this stage.
  9. Just alerting more members to the fence system I have for sale. Can be set to many different levels. It was great for teaching my dogs not to run all over the garden beds or along the fence line if people/dogs walked past. Dogs are now sorted, so fencing system is now up for grabs. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry3562176
  10. I'll swap you http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry3562176
  11. Don't suppose you need a Containment System Ruth?
  12. *Usually* swelling is from the dog being too active. If you cant visit a vet can your friend at least call one for advice? M dogs often get swelling, but not mango sized.
  13. Carol, Epiotic sucks! I have had so many new clients come to me with existing ear infections. I steer them away from Epiotic and the problems go away. It doesn't help that it says to pour it straight in to the dogs ear either ;) Back to the topic though, I've been in the 'semi pluck' camp for hairier breeds and no plucking for lighter breeds for some time now and no dogs have been struck down with infections. Quirkyhound I agree with a lot of your post!
  14. Gawd that reminds me I was supposed to send my Oldfield off yesterday for it's first ever service in about 9 yrs I love my Oldfield!
  15. Following on from this thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...161507&st=0. I used to always be a plucker. However at a grooming workshop I went to last year they advocated no plucking stating recent research by top vets etc. I then relaxed a bit on the plucking front, still did some but not anal about it the way I used to be. Spoke to my vet the other day who recently went to a seminar spoken by some well known Dermatologist whose name escapes me, where she also has recently started advocating no plucking. She says that new research shows that plucking simply aggravates the hair follicles , or something along the lines - I can't remember specifics. Anyway, her research shows that dogs who are plucked are more likely to experience ear problems and/or pain (obviously). I can't make up my mind so I half pluck. If it's a breed where I think the ear would get too dense, then I air it out a little, but if it's a breed where it just gets the whirly strand I leave it. I now tend to clip a bit where I used to pluck too. What do you do?
  16. This is what I do. Plus kibble. I don't claim to feed BARF, but the dogs do eat BARF mix IYKWIM. I've started using the Canine Country one and all pets are doing well on it. Although their main diet would usually be kibble and bones.
  17. It's been my experience that Frontline fails is so many more situations than Advantage. FRontline is like applying water to the dogs neck IMO.
  18. Dog Mad, we used Phenergan with no success and am now using Polaramine. One tablet, every 6-8 hrs if necessary (for 5-10kg dog). To be honest I don't feel it does very much and also am not keen on using them. However it is certainly worth a try for your dog while our grass is so wet here atm. I have a foster Pug here with mad itchies and she is on Periactin which I believe helps, but it knocks her out. So I guess of course if you are sleeping then you are not scratching.
  19. Antihistamines and regular bathing is our routine aswell as supplements, diet etc. Try to keep him off the grass. You may have to resort to a training pad for him to go on and keep him inside at all times.
  20. Me neither and I googled it first to check as Gertie is a skin issue dog. Mine practically flowers all the time wiht only a weeks break in between. Her itchiness hasn't increased since having them but I will keep an eye on it though. Good thing I didn't do the whole garden with them like I wanted to
  21. What's wrong with it? It smells beautiful and I recently bought two lovely pots of it for my courtyard.
  22. Not always, espcially with swf's. Hence the term "Maltese mouth". I know plenty of dogs who have a great diet and still get terrible teeth. A large percentage of my clients dogs have regular dentals as a good diet just doesn't cut it. My small dogs have always had good diets, but their teeth haven't always been brilliant. I used to brush my Saints teeth as quite a few certain teeth would get nasty build up. In regards to the gel, one of my clients used an oral gel and her dogs gums started bleeding and got very sore. If I remember I will find out the name of the product this week. She has used pretty much every product available with no success.
