  1. pepe- you are right - the dog's name cannot be changed and Aussie breeders cannot include apostrophes in their names ie can be Riverwood XXXX but not Riverwood's XXX......BUT I don't see any reference to Riverwood in the original article as it applies to the new owner - are you saying the new owner's prefix is Riverwood?
  2. If it is the same litter it was a Neo litter from Qld and from memory 21 made it????
  3. Rob Zammit in Sydney is making huge strides with HD - using stemcell therapy with great success.....
  4. Ear cropping is not necessarily a "vet procedure" as you well know Lilli and is, in fact, banned in Australia. So if the dog was done here he was done illegally. By by all means keep mud slinging....I'll keep catching.....
  5. begs the question why he didn't just ring the truck stop 2 hours after he left and ask - is my dog there?
  6. $27K? Really??? I doubt it.....and he cropped the dog's ears after it arrived I assume? Wonder how old the poor little buggar was.....
  7. People I knew had their beagles stuffed when they died - they then purchased a piece of glass and balanced it over the top of them so the dogs are part of a coffee table - very very creepy.....
  8. Dasha - my "yard" is over 2 acres - hardly what I would call a cage and Jed is absolutely right - at the first hint of a fire I would have the trailer on, dogs packed and be heading out the gate. I'd have no hestitation to return without them if I thought (and QFRS agreed) that I could help save my house. BUT not much "bush" so to speak - rural area but much of it cleared for horses/cattle etc....very little food for a bush fire. House fire - well I have maximised their escape routes but animals like people can be very unpredictable......
  9. mini girl - give it a couple of days before adding yakult - let the antibiotics do their job to fight anything there before restoring gut flora.....
  10. out into the road - not out of the house........so no they wouldn;t perish in the house....they may be loose in the street though..... No plan is fullproof but mine have the maximum number of escape routes possible onto the rest of the property......or would you like me to hire someone to puppy sit when I'm at work????? At least I am not leaving them caged and vulnerable as happens at pet stores across the country.......rolling eyes again.......
  11. Steve, on 27 April 2012 - 08:55 AM, said: Yeah you have to wait about 15 years before they are actually officially recognised by the ANKC before you are supposed to mention them here If you wanted to set up a forum about non ANKC recognised breeds and move your discussion to there then I'm sure some people would happily follow you.....
  12. Just a reminder before anyone starts singing the virtues of non ANKC recognised breeds and their producers...... •This site was created for pure bred dog discussion (ANKC recognised breeds) The primary purpose of this forum is to promote and discuss pure bred dogs (as recognised by the ANKC) so we ask you respect our aim when visiting here. If you own a cross breed dog, you are also welcome here, but we ask that you refer to it by its proper name (eg a pug-x or cavalier-x instead of the designer term 'pugalier').
  13. If a dog bit me and it was at fault, I wouldn't tell anyone. I couldn't live with myself if a beautiful animal had to be put down because of my stupidity. You take your dog out in public, if you have not worked out human nature by now you need to look at yourself not everyone else. I wont encroach on someones personal space, I wont go near a dog in a cage, but if a dog is out in the open unattended and I can read the body language positively.............well, if you don't like it, stay home. Seriously??? So you have no respect for anyone else's feelings or concerns - you want to touch so you do? What are you 5 years old? Bloody hell - do us a favour and don't come to Qld.....
  14. GE - the best advice I can give you - a judge will judge your dog on the day....it is only his or her opinion for that day. Show without high expectations - you have selected a very competitive breed - esp for a new comer - so don't expect to win your class let alone BOB. Enjoy the day out, meet some people and spend time with your pooch.....anything beyond that is a bonus.......
  15. What if your neighbours weren't home while you were out? How do your animals have access to free themselves plus also be safely contained? Genuine question - my neighbours all work, if a fire started here all my pets would be burnt to a crisp as I have gone to a lot of trouble and cost to ensure all my animals are contained appropriately. My front and back doors are always opened....as is a glass sliding door in the loungeroom so 3 exits from the house.....I am on acreage and have colourbond fencing around the back half and mesh around the front. They could not escape into the road. If firies arrive there is a gate through to the drive then another fenced area to get into the yard.......unless someone opened every gate then they wouldn't be able to get out......
  16. I don't let the public touch my dogs at Royals until 1) we have been in the ring and 2) only when I am supervising. I'm not worried about the dogs' behaviour - just at the humans......dirty hands (greasy food, fairyfloss, tomato sauce, cream and god knows what else), offering all forms of bizarre food, attempting to sit children on them....the list goes on.....and my particular pet hate is having a dog on the table grooming him and having someone just come over and start ruffling fur - and then get snippy when you (politely at first) ask them to cease and desist.....my normal comeback is "If I walked up to your kid and started patting him/her would you get annoyed?" Most parents of course say yes and I point out well that's the way that I feel about my dogs....I have no problems with people asking politely and if we have exhibited I will bring a dog out for people to touch and cuddle..... and my second pet hate is people getting 2 feet from their faces aand using flash photography - it REALLY annoys me.......
  17. sas - I appreciate your comment BUT I don't think we are talking the same thing. My animals all live in the house but have access to escape and I have neighbours who would come to their aid. They are also not locked up alone overnight.
  18. I have used the Maroochy vets on occasion - mainly afterhours and thru their specialists centre....they were thorough, efficient and very personable......
  19. Sheridan give VetProductsDirect a call - they normally stock it - and are based in Brisbane......
  20. Is it just me or is anyone else disturbed by the giggling in the background as someone films this without the first instinct being to drop the camera and rescue the puppy?
  21. On the morning TV news of course dog was labelled a PB even though the photo they showed could ahve been any mix of anything.....
  22. If anyone needed to be reminded about the mental strength of dogs and their ability to bounce back this is it......
  23. Where I used to live, a few houses down, a moving van pulled up to a house....out climbed a couple of guys in labelled shirts - went in and start emptying the house - neighbours actually went and spoke to them - they explained that the family was overseas but had made arrangements for them to move everything while they were away. Neighbours didn't think anything of it as the family had, ironically, discussed moving not that long before. Family comes home a couple of weeks later - walked into a completely emptied house....of course by then neighbours couldn't remember name of the moving company, make of the van or licence plate, accurate descriptions of the guys.....it was so brazen......I know the insurance company snooped around for weeks - they were convinced it was an inside job.....not sure if they ever got a pay out......now when I see a moving van in my street I jot down the details...you just never know.....
