Should I Get A Second Opinion?
Wazzat Xolo replied to RallyValley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
valley just to be on the safe sideI think this is good, a dog who dribbles can get dehydrated but not knowing the cause would worry me. I once delayed the vet for a dog of mine and he is no longer here I wish I made the other choice and I will never forgive myself for the wrong choice Good luck -
Nope. You'll be sitting with all the other Lappies. Your breed gets booked an aisle and you sit there. Where will you be staying? Welcome to stay at mine if you need too Ooh great I hope we get booked a whole isle, the peace will be lovely! You'll probably be slotted into an aisle with other rare breeds should have entered two to get the bench space lol

Should I Get A Second Opinion?

Just my view but I dont like his gums are not returning to pink quickly ( within 2 secs) That could be a sign of shock, have you tried Applecross Vets or George Huber ( he usually can chat on the phne re probs and is a great vet) Midvale ( he generally will come in for cases like this too ) Good luck with him, and noone is ever dramatic with their dog, its when its too late and you wish you had been dramatic. -
Regarding Breed Size And Coat Type.
Wazzat Xolo replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
Now that is hard to get your head around! Why can a coated pup from two hairless parents be registered? The official reason is (" FCM which is the Federacion Canofila Mexicana aka Mexican Kennel Club say its ok) FCM accepted the coated as part of the breed for BREEDING purpose only. Breed clubs allow coateds to be shown UNOFFICIALLY! In some countries they are shown, but there is a minority of countries that are willing to go against the breed standard and give them titles. E.G Russia and France... In Russia you can't breed a coated xolo, to a hairless nor a coated. You can show them at specialties, and they can get the club championship, but that's it! France, you can show your coated xolo and get the title. I guess not all countries follow the FCI or the country of origin, The Peruvian Hairless which is a totally different dog states the coated Peruvians as a fault and it cannot be shown, from resaerch the peruvian coats can be long, short, wavy, curly, they appear to be not as uniform as the Xolo, but then again the Peruvian pedigree does not appear to be as stable as the Xolo either, one of the reasons I did not research this breed further due to the muddled pedigrees in some. -
Just one Xolo, JSK & Ptolomy, I believe they are on Friday August 13th ( Friday the 13th lol) I have a great person who is showing them for me, but I just wanted to know what it was like over there, as in benching etc, noise etc . Oops I see Miss b has answered thank you so much. This outing is basically a get to show the xolo to others, we will be very hppy just to get around the ring, more a breed trip as so many have asked about the breed and a few new owners are up that way. Ohhh I am so going to go! I can not miss out on seeing one of your kids!! hahaha yeah just look for the biggest ridgie there and I wont be far away! I actually had one DOLer recognise Monster the first year from his pics here.... I heard her say to her boyfriend "I think that's Monster" I turned around and looked at her and she said "ummm is that Bakari? Are you on DOL?" :D hahah and look at us now Ren.... that was a couple years ago now. MissBeridgeirent It will be great to meet a few DOLers, I will only have Naca (the male) as the female I hope will be in whelp,

Try the Xoloitzcuintle IE a coated puppy from two Hairless parents can be registered. A coated puppy from a Coated and hairless parent cant be registered. The miniature and the standard are shown against each other for BOB! -

Regarding Breed Size And Coat Type.
Wazzat Xolo replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
Good point, it seems sad that a small Xolo 25cm will compete against a 60cm Xolo but thats the way the cookie criumbles ! lol The Xoloitzcuintle Three sizes Standard Intermediate Miniature and two types Hairless Coated (not able to be shown in Australia) No breeding bewteen the sizes Hairless to hairless mating all puppies can be main registered Hairless to Coated mating ONLY hairless puppies can be registered. All sizes and both coated and hairless xoloitzcuintle should exhibit the same outline and characteristics. If a miniature Xolo or Intermediate xolo grows too tall they can be reg as the next size up ( no downsizing) If a Standard is too tall (over 62cm) then that is a DQ fault. The ANKC has a much longer version of what I have just said ANKC POLICY ON XOLOITZCUINTLE (Approved 2010) Group 7 – Non Sporting Registration to commence immediately and showing to commence on the 1 July 2010 GENERAL INFORMATION There are six (6) varieties of the Xoloitzcuintle – Miniature, Xoloitzcuintle Hairless – Miniature, Xoloitzcuintle Coated - Intermediate, Xoloitzcuintle Hairless - Intermediate, Xoloitzcuintle Coated – Standard Xoloitzcuintle Hairless and the Standard Xoloitzcuintle Coated. These are the names used for the purpose of registration and exhibiting. The Federación Canófila Mexicana advise that each variety is to receive a set of challenge certificates and interbreeding between the breeds/Varieties is NOT allowed. Only the hairless dogs are eligible to be shown and Hairless dogs are eligible to be registered. Coated dogs are not eligible to be shown, but are eligible to be registered if they are the progeny of a Hairless to a Hairless breeding. ANKC POLICY The six (6) varieties/Breeds of Xoloitzcuintle Dogs shall be known as: • Xoloitzcuintle Hairless Dog – Miniature. • Xoloitzcuintle Coated Dog – Miniature (Not eligible to be shown). • Xoloitzcuintle Hairless Dog – Intermediate. • Xoloitzcuintle Coated Dog – Intermediate (Not eligible to be shown). • Xoloitzcuintle Hairless Dog – Standard. • Xoloitzcuintle Coated Dog – Standard (Not eligible to be shown). Only the three [3] hairless varieties will be eligible to be shown and will receive a separate set of challenge certificates for each of these varieties. Hairless dogs as described in the standard are eligible to be registered on the ANKC Main Pure Breed Register without conditions, or if the breeder decides the Limited Pure Breed Register. Only coated dogs that are the progeny of a Hairless to a Hairless mating are eligible to be registered on the ANKC Main Pure Breed Register. Any Coated dog resulting from Hairless to a Coated mating can only be registered on the ANKC Limited Register and Marked “Not to be upgraded and not eligible to be issued with an Export Certificate/Pedigree”. Inter- breeding of the varieties/Breeds NOT is permitted. Dogs are to be registered in accordance with their expected size and will be permitted to be reclassified if the dog is 2 cm above the size as per the Standard for dogs registered as a Miniature or Intermediate. Dogs that do not reach size as per the Standard are to be de-registered. For details on the how a Xoloitzcuintle can be reclassified refer to ANKC Regulations Part 6 Clause 9.20 Rationale: This notice is based on information supplied by the Mexican Kennel Club, the Country of Origin of the Breed and therefore the Controlling Body for the Breed. -

He will be fine nadz, dont you worry thats the best you can do for him before, just so he associates the vet with happy thoughts, and after he will be so happy to see his mommy I am sure that will be all he needs to be well on his way to mending. What a caring and loving owner you are, dont forget dont worry. -
She is lovely Bonduca, I share your excitement, I am looking forward to meeting some DOLers, but most of all I have organised to meet a lady I have chatted by phone weekly for 10 years and never met. My Chinese Crested mentor and absolute guru, who is responsible for so much including the XOLOITZCUINTLE being here in Australia, I cant wait to meet her.

Simply, this is not the breed for everyone and explain why your breed is not for this particular family/person, they will respect the answer if you have their full respect as a breeder.
-
Very True I guess in some csaes I have a lovely old couple who will definately be getting a Xolo puppy, everything about them is fantastic and they are willing to travel over here to collect the dog. They have put a lot of time and research into this breed and I consider it a great home, on the other hand I have people offering a lot of money for a dog, but thats all they have, nothing at all to offer the dog, these people will not even be cosidered for a dog as IMO they are not the dogs best options. I am sure all breeders worth their salt want the best home for the puppy! after all they are like extended family!~

" Dogs On Show" - Open Day At Erskine Park, N S W
Wazzat Xolo replied to Dogs Are Forever's topic in General Dog Discussion
Since it is not an ANKC sanctioned sport, of course it will not be there There will also be no greyhound racing, sled dog racing, Adac agility, weight pulling etc or any other non ANKC sports. We'll be there down in the herding area. and no Xoloitzcuintle this year but next year will be there! -
what a lovely thread( and sad too) but gee makes me see the good side of the Dog world, I cant state to owning an old dog my girl is 11 years young and for a Crested thats average age, but for me its a record. BIG well done, obviously the dogs owned by DOL members are very happy and loved a lot.
-
Congratulations GayleK what a lovely looking dog and so nice that DOL features so well in the owners of a few of these.

Aussielover I am just one person BUT I take my hat off to you and all the other Guide Dog Angels ( You are more than just Puppy Walkers) You people who give up so much of your time and heart to train a dog with love so that someone else can benefit and do what most of us take for granetd are TRUE ANGELS. People who say you are cold have obviously no thought into what the process is all about. Well done

Very Young Dogs That Go To Rainbow Bridge
Wazzat Xolo replied to furballs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Shame Furballs isnt still in this topic, I read through a few posts and wanted to suggest maybe she should keep her Roty quiet and not let it get too excited with all the foster pups she has, just to make sure the Rotty with the heart "condition" doesnt get too stressed. -
Just MY opinion but if someone is dead set on a particular breed and want that breed that much and from a certain breeder no amount of questions would put me off ( believe me I have been through it! lol)
-
Stef I think you will find the aswers the same as last time you asked a similar question, everyone has the Dogs best interests at heart and those of the unborn cross bred pupies she is carrying. The INJ option is by far the bst, noone is condemming you as a BYB breeder and YES accidents happen to the very best pure bred breeders too, good luck with the desexing. I think you know what is the right course of action to take, do whats best for all concerened. Best of luck.
