What Can You Expect To Pay For A Saint Bernard
Wazzat Xolo replied to frenchiegirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wouldn't of thought you'd get any breed papered for $800 well maybe a stb There are a few breeds that are cheaper than $800, Tenterfields go for $550 - $600 and I've seen other breeds for about that too. Its sad that breeders struggle to get a decent price yet a cocker pooper or doodle dooper fetches in excess of $1000, when I work out the formula that makes people want to part with their hard earned cash in a gamble on a puppy I shall share the formula but I think its TMM and IB + STY equates to TMM Too Much Money and IB Impulse Buy = STY Stupidity! -
aww what a shame you are not looking for raw type dogs! Let me know when you are the Xoloitzcuintle will be waiting lol

BLOODY MARVELLOUS what a super star Glad to hear you are moving along at a fine rate of knotts, JED your love for your dogs and the strength from here is making you recover so fast and its SO GOOD TO HEAR< I may believe there is a GOD after all! Your family and friends deserve a big pat on the back too xoxoxoxox -
I would not have asked if you own or rent, I have never asked that question, so would not have come up with me. I ask if you own or rent and if renting I like a letter from the landlord stating that dogs are ok in the property and I check this myself, but then again I wont rehome a dog with anybody who is under the age of 18! Thats just MY rules.

I had a five year old Crested dog I had on a permanent lease ( the owner lived in NSW I in WA) I had never met the owner, just talked on the phone. This beautiful boy died in 2006 ( Ricky and his rainbow bridge story is on DOL) I kept in touch with the old owner and still do in fact its because of her I got the Xolos! I am so excited as this year at the Brisbane EKKA I will meet her almost ten years after I got a dog from her. I still keep weekly phone and email ( although in her seventies she hates the computer!) As with all of my puppy owners we all keep in touch, its a bond shared by the dogs. I hope this gets across as I intend it, not all breeders are in your face nosey its more of a bond type of relationship, I have one with the Xolos old mom in the USA, in fact all her xolo owners world wide keep in touch with her and each other. Having said that even dogs I have rescued and rehomed some owners send pics as they are so proud of their progress.

I think the majority of breeders who are genuine are more intersted in finding a "right" home than the money ( if indeed any does) change hands. I know a few Xolos who will be going to homes and the money that will change hands will cover desexing only, this is because I like the homes and the people and rather than get thousands of dollars I would rather have piece of mind. I honestly believe most breeders have the pups best and the breeds best intrests at hear ( especially here on the DOL community) I guess there are breeders and there are the breeders. I hope I am approachable to all my puppy buyers and I fully expect the relationship we form to be a bond for the life of the puppy, as if it wasnt I wouldnt be selling them a puppy! Anyhow thats my 2 cents worth! Cant speak for others

oh dear, I thinks some comments made by some people get taken to the extreme sometimes, wouldnt it be nice if the words on a page could really say what people were trying to say! lol

dont forget CBR you can sit with us baldies to make Linc feel better! -
Jules1 Icant comment on them but I have had a session with Garth Jennens at Pupi and it was absolutely fantastic. I had a whole one and a half hours and got a six page explanation and training guide, as well as his expertise at the time. the price I paid is for ongoing sessions if ever i need them for life. I prefer the one on one and by a certified and trainer with just a bit more than a few certificates. Any way I cannot speak highly enough and encorage you to at least call him link.. Best of luck by the way this was for two dogs! PM me for the cost ( but is approx one eight of the other ways! and I was very pleasantly surprised)

Should I Get A Second Opinion?

I would rather an unessecary surgery then him dying from a bowel or intestinal rupture because I was hesitating "just incase" it was for nothing. The surgery allowed them to confirm gastroenteritis, let his stomach down (it was full of gas) and change thier treatmeant plan from sustaining hydration and keeping im alive for bloackage to pass to treating gastroenteritis. When I called this morning he was still groggy from the GA but he is improving. Will get a call mid morning with more details. Just a note to everyone: Have pet insurance. In a situation like this it has enabled us the freedom to choose what is best for his health not double guessing ourselves becase of costs ect. Great news glad all is well on the road to recovery. My little CC had cronic inflamation through her tract and the vets said it was due to the scratching of the object she swallwed and her trying to regurgitate it back up, she also had the drools, she came home and they said it was no longer there whatever it was!! BUT sure as eggs it passed a day later, may pay to keep an eye on his poop just in case ? She had the x rays, barium, and the op was by far the best choice as it shows everything and nothing ( hopefully) will be missed! :D -
Clever little fellow wasnt he,

Thank goodness you followed your gut! I knew the shivering and gums were not good ( mine had the same) Keep us informed ! Hugs to you CBR -
Not sure how your state control body works and if its too late to do this but maybe you can transfer him to the main but have a co ownership in regards to breeding ? Not even sure if you can do co ownership after the dog has been reg initially but I am sure others will know.

It's Cold! Coats When Home Alone?
Wazzat Xolo replied to natamalie's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs are double coated at night, thin under coat for warmth and a waterproof outer coat, the coats need to be off any dog for a few hours every day ( I guess diff for every situation) as bacteria due to heat can build up and affect the dogs coat/skin. Also good idea to rotate coats if you can, to stop the build up of dander/grease, really as long as they have shelter from the wind, dogs can manage without coats, its us the humans that have made them soft! I guess we love them too much! I know of xolos in Russia that are in the snow with no coats and just have an inside kennel run. -
