How Oftendo You Feed Puppies?

Hi,

Your puppy should be fed what she was having at the breeders :banghead:

Did they give you a list?

This is to stop any tummy upsets in the first few days.

If you want to change her diet, do so GRADUALLY , over some time.

Most baby pups have 4 meals a day.

A good idea is to have her vet checked now too..so the vet knows her, and can find any problems before they get worse, give you advice on worming, etc .

The breeder should have given you a diet sheet, vacc card, worming advice etc etc.

Given the pup left at 7.5 weeks i presume there not a registered breeder otherwise it was sold under age.

I agree with the previous poster get a vet check now.

With our pup we encourage all new owners to vet check the pup within 48 hrs.

Your pup needs a minium of 3 meals aday but i would look at 4.

Diets vary so much but a good puppy biscuit plus raw meast etc .

What are you feeding now or what was suggested .

If she hasnt been given the puppy milk prior to i wouldnt bother.

Our pups get goats milk & dpeneding on what the pups are doing prior to leaving we have either weaned off it it or inform the new owners on that pups food regime as some pups can vary.

Yes, what they all said.......

At least 3 feeds a day, 4 is probably better, the puppy will tell you if he ( or She ) is getting too much ( HIGHLY unlikely...)

Up to 6 months or so, if Pup leaves food it is getting too much.

Also..... take the new pup to a good Vet NOW.......

We always recommend to people who buy pups from us to do this...

We just bought a pup from our best friend, who we trust absolutely... ( if there is re-incarnation I want to come back as one of her dogs..... )

Took pup ( Rosie ) to Vet next day, as expected no problems.

Edited for typo

Thank you all for your help, She was supposed to come home at 8 weeks but the owner had to go away for a funeral and was taking the dogs to someone elses house so she said it might be better to take her early than having to move her round. I just took her word for it.

She is on Eukanuba dry soaked in hot water and regular mince, no puppy milk.

thanks for all the help

Vicki

Is there some reason why you do not wish to continue with the diet the breeder recommended? If not, continue with it, the pup is used to it. 4 small meals a day should be adequate.

Sounds like a valid reason to me PR - a couple of days in unusual circumstances, providing the pups were forward would be better than going somewhere else for 2 or 3 days and then to the new home. Less trauma all round.
