Just Midol
Spot also would be interested in stuff on making the dog look at her (her words) She was too scared to post it so I am for her. ETA: She does do ToT already so stuff past that. Edited June 13, 2008 by Lord Midol
Jey
I agree. When we're out walking calling his name doesn't always help to focus attention. His quite good around the house though. I'll call his name and he'll run and sit facing me and look at me waiting for instructions or cuddles. It's very cute.

Jey
It's very reassuring to hear that others have dog-aggressive dogs - I'm not a terrible dog-parent afterall.
Monah
Oh dear. Me too. DA. My girl is wonderful 97% of the time, then, just when you think it wont happen (say 6 months after a 'brain snap'!!!) it does. She lunges and punctures someones face (dog). This has happened infront of trainers, who say they have no idea why she did it. It makes me nervous for ages afterwards, :D and I know that is bad for her too. She was a singleton pup with no socialisation for the first 12 weeks, don't know if that is anything to do with it. She's receptive, easy to train, lovely with us and many others. But, fearful of some dogs, the dark, children, adults who come on too strong.I would love some help with this as I'm very out of my depth, never ever having a problem dog in my life. I'm certainly on a learning curve though!!! She does agility, flyball and obed. (all just for fun and socialisation), which has helped dramatically over the last 2 years, but we still have this 'burst' (dont know how else to describe it) of unwarranted behaviour occurring. Jey, I too feel like a terrible parent, useless, and have had the cold shoulder treatment because of my dog. ;)

huski
I don't know if what I want to know is of any use to anyone else but addressing fear based dog-dog aggression, other than the approach of 'he needs to trust in you as leader' etc.If there is another approach! Maybe that's the the only and 'right' answer, I don't know. On that note, I'd also like some tips on staying calm and not a nervous wreck while your dog is being very naughty because as another dog is near. I can't assert calmness and leadership if I'm terrified that he's going to hurt a dog. Anyway, as I said this kind of stuff may not be of any use to anyone else and I can certainly pursue other ways of finding out the answers to my issues. Ditto. K9 Force is coming to Brisvegas, how exciting I'd love to learn how to handle my beagle more effectively.
