At least your vet didn't do what the initial vet who saw Kinta did - I was told that because nothing showed on the xrays it had to be OCD I asked for a referral to Liz Franks and went back to my normal vet LOL. Needless to say she doesn't have OCD ;) Varda is good today. She was pretty well on 4 legs before I went to the vet but as she was on 3 legs about 1/4 of the time I still went. By the time we got there she walked about 2 steps on 3 legs after sitting in the waiting room and then was on 4 legs and the vet couldn't see which leg she was lame on However, she confirmed with manipulation that it was the hock but by that stage she would fully extend, albeit reluctantly, whereas the night before she couldn't. I have to admit I was in two minds about going but since I couldn't take her the next couple of afternoons if it got worse again I decided to just bite the bullet - after all what is another $80(ish) consult :p I should just trust myself more I think but after the last few crappy days I decided to play it safe So poor Varda gets a bath tonight in case she is 100% sound on Saturday :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ness Posted November 24, 2011 Share Posted November 24, 2011 Urgh lame dogs are complicated - 2 nights ago at obedience training Kenz was lame enough that we didn't last 5 paces in the heelwork before it was apparent to everybody watching something was up today she had a good run at the beach because she has an ortho specialist appointment tomorrow and little devil has been as sound as ever. The only things it could be is tendon, ligament, muscle none of which will show in X-ray. He has to have his mouth checked tomorrow again so guess we will discus it again then. She mentioned pano but that was ruled out in the X-rays as apparently u can see that on X-rays . I have restricted his exercise for over 2 weeks now and it hasn't helped a stitch... She was not obviously sore on wednesday (after agility tues, but then i didn't even try weave) but my husband took her for a walk this morning and ended up carrying her part of the way home as she was so sore on one leg. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! But now, a slight lameness but only if you don't have anything exciting going on and she doesn't know you are looking. I told you about those 2 fox terriers i met whose owners told me they dived to the bottom of the pool to attack the hosepipe when they topped it up with hose water???? CRAZY dogs, who'd have one? boxagirl Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Update on miss Bondi- her movement has improved out of sight! She actually got up and walked into the next room yesterday (I was outside playing with Booker and she came to see where I was while my parents were supposed to be watching her) Apparently it looked like she was drunk, she was wobbly- but she didnt fall over! But I haven't been able to get her to eat since tuesday, and the tiny bit that I did manage to get down she has been vommiting up Just had her to the vets and Vet nearly had me in tears! He was our usual vet- not her specialist- he said "This might be a battle we can't win" He thinks it is classic sign of a dog in pain- gave us anti-vommit tabs, and anti-biotics incase of infection- Bondi's temp was a tad low. I also brought some nutrigel (she hates the stuff, but I put it in her mouth). Anyway got home, gave her anti-vom tablet, tried to get her to eat some roast chicken- nope she turned her nose up at it. Was about it tears telling my stepmum about it- so she tried, nope Bon wouldn't take it from her either. So stepmum went and got some ham , beef mince and sausages for Bon- eureka! Bon ate them like she was starving! We only gave her a little bit, so hopefully she will keep it down! Fingers crossed! So now I am going to the shops to buy an assortment of yummy stuff for Bon so she doesn't get sick of one thing lol What a character she is! She has lost 4kg in 3 weeks though and looks so thin! Start walking up street to find them Andrew walks out into yard and yells Kelari, Chance and whistles next thing i see two black blobs bolting up the street straight to Andrew, Thank heavens for recall and for the neighbour bringing Chandra back and alerting us to the fact the dogs were out.
