Grand Opening Of The New Animal Referral Hospital In Homebush

Very excited to be going to the opening of the new Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush tonight!! It is supposed to be the largest and most sophisticated privately owned specialist hospital in the southern hemisphere!!!

As Chloe has been an ongoing patient there for many years – will be interesting to see the technology and resources they will have there (seeing that sometimes I think we have actually funded these new premises to be built single handedly LOL). They provide excellent care for pets, so here’s hoping the new upgraded premises will allow them to provide an even higher level of care.

Anyone else going?

Wish I had shares :) ;)

It is great that animals have the possibility of going to a place where they have all the up to date equipment, all the diagnostic equipment, 24 hours veterinary care; just the knowledge that there is somewhere you can take your pets at any hour of any day is a huge comfort.

....... even if Danny's little tummy upset cost me a thousand dollars :o:) .

Me too!!!!

2 cruciate ligament ops, and 3 years of Cushings disease treatments... on the phone the receptionist said 'we should dedicate a room to Chloe'... a room? How about a whole entire wing? I think we've earned it :o

But they are so good there, treat you and your pets with personalised care. And they've done a stellar job with Chloe- it's been worth every cent to have them care for her.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer. They are now doing boarding as well, day/partial day boarding, boarding for the sick and elderly who need meds/special attention, etc.

Let me know what you think of it FionaC, unfortunately I think we will also be visiting there soon with our patient too - she doesn't seem to be herself lately.

And best of luck with Archie's results - hoping for good news.

I haven't dealt with Cameron (thankfully, Chloe's been under the care of 2 different specialists there - that's enough!!), but they are all fabulous there :o I'm assuming they will have alot more staff now too to look after boarders etc. That was one thing that did sometimes bother me was the wait to pick up Chloe. Very understandable as I'm sure there are lots of others who need care first, but we have at times had to wait a long time to collect her.

We are going today to see the physiotherapist and my girl is going to try out the new treadmill

:mad

I believe they have been there since the 17th of November (we haven't needed to attend since they moved), but their official opening 'party' is tonight... can't wait :)

So its the usual practice, just moving to Homebush or opening a new branch?

I have been there too many times in the past, as well as the one at Delhi Road.

Cameron (I am assuming you mean Cameron Whittaker) is tops !!

Yep it's the same practice, just moving from Strathfield to Homebush into state of the art new and much bigger premises.

Stormie, if the vets were impressed - I'm sure we will be too, looks good from the pics on the invitation!!!

How daggy to be excited about a veterinary hospital opening event... I need a life...

Sounds like a great place Kelly Louise. Nothing like a Cushpup to fund a new facility :mad I guess the cruciate ops provided the xray machines

You said it Loraine... but you know just as I do, they are worth every cent

When they sent the invite, I said to Mum - well, might as well go and see what we've built :)

Yes that's him. He saved my dog, literally!

Archie was diagnosed at under six months of age with very rare especially due to his age and highly aggressive iris melanoma. We expected him to at the very least loose his eye from it (and it was possible had it spread that we could have lost him) but Cameron not only saved the eye but my boy actually has vision in that eye. Considering the melanoma took more than half the iris in one eye so the lasers had to be very aggressive it wad nothing short of a miracle in skill that Cameron did.

Cannot sing the praises of him any more if I tried! and the staff there are brilliant.

Couldn't agree more :mad what a fantastic job is seems they have done with Archie, he's a very lucky boy!!

I know for a fact that we wouldn't still have Chloe with us today if it wasn't for Dr John. He's been fabulous handling her Cushings, especially seeing it is such an unpredictable disease. And I love when I ring up, most of the staff generally know who I'm ringing about and immediately ask about Chloe's welfare and how she's doing. They treat her like a family member (well she has been around there for 5 years now)... but money can't buy that. Well I guess it can, but it just feels warm and genuine.

Well - all I can say is that the new Animal Referral Hospital is absolutely awesome!! The space, the state of the art facilities - it's mind blowing. I was more than impressed. One tour through the hospital and dogs will be faking illnesses just to stay in there.

I can't recommend the ARH enough for any kind of specialist treatment that your dogs need. The additional services of specialist physio and dentistry, along with exotic and birds specialist teams - covers all pets! I think the only thing that I would have liked to see there, but didn't, was a hydrotherapy machine - they have the treadmill, however I think hydrotherapy would have been a good addition to such a high tech facility.

I had a glimpse into the ICU, and saw 2 nurses sitting quietly on the floor, gently patting a big boofy bull mastiff, wrapped in pink blankies, who was recovering after surgery. I know that's the kind of care I would like for my dogs. :dummy:

It was a lovely event, lots of goodie bags - great night and happy to see that they now have better resources to care for our pets even better than before!!!

:dummy::dunce::dunce: oh god I hope not. I dont want my lot becoming hypochondriacs, especially on a public holiday.

So does this replace the one at Strathfield or will that remain open? I was really impressed with them when my dogs were in there.
