Chicken Necks For Puppy?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Depends on the size of the pup and how they eat.

For my boy I froze two or three together and fed those ... otherwise he inhaled them.

You want to encourage chewing rather then swallowing ...

AG: I give my furkids chicken necks a few times a week - sometimes just a few. Sometimes 6 or so and replace a meal (i feed twice a day). Just ensure that your puppy is chewing them, not inhaling as mentioned!

For a youngish pup - i tend to give around 2 - 3 :D

I started my boy on a chicken wing (frozen or thawed) a day for lunch as soon as he came home. The shape forced him to actually chew it properly. I can't remember if he ever got chicken necks, but he could swallow two thirds of a turkey neck whole by about 14 weeks so I would think chicken necks have the potential to go down whole at a much earlier age - something to keep an eye out for :)

I tried my pup with one yesterday, as advised by the vet, he's about 3 kgs, 9 wks old...he licked it a bit but had no idea - something that will improve with time do you think?
