Which means someone has fed him something he shouldn't be eating. Grrr. Also, what do you guys do to keep your dogs fur nice? Tyrions isn't very nice at the moment. I wash him monthly but his current shampoo isn't doing a great job, what would you guys suggest I try? Steph M Posted November 11, 2013 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Start from the inside out! Lots of oily fish (within reason!) and good quality food. We use a soap free oatmeal shampoo I'm pretty happy with. Other than that, Gus went through a crappy coarse and dull stage as he was losing puppy fur and growing adult fur, I guess when that coincides with the change of season it might be pretty unavoidable? Lhok Posted November 11, 2013 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Greek yoghourt failed hard Treble sniffed it then licked it and walked away. I had to scrape it off so he would eat his chicken. He couldn't go into the vets today for his blood test because I had some pretty nasty hayfever and then he started vomiting a little which the vets told me to keep him home and come into tomorrow. He hasn't vomited since this morning so that is good and he ate all his dinner after I got rid of the yukky yoghourt. --Lhok Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He is looking pretty feral at the moment! He's definitely going through a some serious puberty. Sorry to hear about Treble's food problems Lhok I don't know if anyone's already mentioned it but have you tried topping his food with some smelly fish (like sardines)? Dory the Doted One Posted November 11, 2013 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Wow, everyone's puppies are growing up to be big dogs! I love seeing piccies of parents. But what about their Mum's?? We only get to see dads? Willow is 34kg now, she's really slowed down in her growth. Some days I look at her and I think OMG...you're huge (these are not the days when we have seen Sumo piccies). Other days I look at her and think...are you going to be big enough?? She's a big hit at the dog park with the people, she floats with all the dogs. Unless there is an entire male, the hussy. We are watching her like a hawk for her first season and dreading the mess. and her training is coming along, despite the fact that I've been flat out lately and haven't given it the time I want to. aliwake Posted November 11, 2013 Share Posted November 11, 2013 So many lovely pics lately! I'd been hoping we'd see some more Griffin ones - they're all gorgeous, and the hammock one is hilarious!! And Nova looks more stunning by the minute! And Hank is looking so grown up! He's in beautiful shape, and has such a sweet face. Re coat, Nixon also went through the horrible coat phase a couple of months ago. I'm now thinking he probably would have got over it anyway, but using the livamol Lisa suggested has been great, and his coat is beautiful again now. That's pretty funny Treble didn't like the yoghurt - he is a fusspot! Glad he's eating better generally though. Nixon had been such an angel recently, but in the last week he's started barking at stuff He's barking even when we're home, which has me nervous about what he's up to when we're not home... I hate to admit it, but I think it's probably hormones. Another fear period did cross my mind, but he's being more being bossy than scared. If he keeps it up I'm going to have a battle on my hands for him to keep his nuts for a few more months... He's 9 months old on saturday. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Seriously, someone has to cuddle him until he's fast asleep then gently transfer him to his bed and pray he doesn't wake or you have to start again. He is just like a baby!! Any suggestions? I've got everyone just ignoring him and turning away. I set up a secret skype laptop in the kitchen on the windowsill to watch for barking and all I saw was Rosie shredding the catcher for the lawn mower. ARGH! It's a shitty time, but if that's the worst he's doing we're probably miles ahead. I'm seriously considering desexing him early next year. Not so much because of his own hormones but other dogs react so differently now. Socialising is almost unavoidable and I wouldn't want him to get snappy with other dogs, so far he just rolls over and gives when he gets a growl but I don't want to push it. I'll pop some photos on here for an update while I'm at it... She has a bad innocent face.... I wake up to a similar view at 6:15 on the dot every morning. Rosie has certainly made a mess of your catcher! She's clearly telling you you need a mower with a plastic catcher - duh! PS her ears are gorgeous!! :) Apart from the barking Nixon hasn't really had any issues, and all the dog park dogs already know him so their attitudes are ok already. There's a really nice small group where we go - very lucky. I am super paranoid about barking though - I don't want him to be a nuisance, and he almost never barked at all up to a week ago! hopefully it's a very shortlived phase. at the moment I'm hoping for desxing in April next year, but at this rate I'll be lucky to make it to February (his birthday...) Steph M Posted November 12, 2013 Share Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) She panics about the rain, and silly me forgot to leave the laundry open (never mind the covered deck, sofa bed, kennels and undercover carport she could have utilised or her many toys and bones and kongs to chew) so she showed her displeasure by molesting everything she could get her teeth on. That catcher is actually fab! Looks flimsy (obviously not designed for rain-phobic dogs) but it holds so much more and is fab to empty, Vale good catcher. We will meet again. Maybe pass your number on to your neighbours and ask if they could listen out and see if he's being a pest? It is a worry though, Fingers crossed for us both! I have to say our park is great too, everyone is in the same boat and can laugh it off. Nice people make all the difference! We're taking him out every 3ish hours overnight and he doesn't pee his bed at night, he does it in the day immediately after waking! I take him out every 30-60 minutes in the day and have training pads in 2 places in our house. I know Dachshunds are notoriously hard to toilet train but still wasn't expecting him to pee in his own bed! Fingers crossed he stops soon. I may have had a mini breakthrough but not cheering just yet. I took Frank's bedding out of his crate and put it under our desk and he put himself to bed!
