We also had an appointment this morning with the dental specialist....the ordinary vet tomorrow...anyway the dental guy had the time to do 4 extractions today which was a surprise, poor girl, so she was whisked away to have 2 at the front and 2 molars right at the back extracted along with a general cleanup. She has peridontal disease as they do when they get old. She had nerve blocks and along with the general anaesthetic isn't really in a position to be worried about storms at the moment. I can hear it rumbling in the background. She is asleep on the lounge....so I won't have to be giving her any valium today. Funny how things turn out. julesluvscavs Posted April 4, 2013 Share Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Altho its I don't think it works for serious anxiety problems? i am trying `Anxiety Aid'by Rufus and Coco atm for our older Cav 'Renae' She doesn't have anxieties as such but her age and health problems have been causing her to have shakes and some mild fits. Ive had her on it for about 2 weeks now, and we have seen some improvement. on it. But like everything best check ingredients as someone was telling me it does have something in it thats not good to long term use, or for certain health conditions. smooch Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) Smoochies ear muffs turned up last week. We have a storm coming through atm. I did give Smooch some Rescue remedy and put the ear muffs on. He is generally pretty good with anything I try on him as he has to ware a muzzle to bed as he is OCD and licks his leg of a night when I can't see him. Funny think is he never touches it when I leave him home on his own, think he just sulks lol. He really hats being away from me. At times she will lick her front leg in this certain spot till its all red & irritated but since being on meds she doesn't seem to do it now. Doseage was 1/2 tab for a dog under 10kgs.....we had two storms come through, one yesterday and one the day before. Both times I was able to give the 1/2 tab 30 minutes before the storm arrived. Both times she still drooled and shook however once the thunder and heavy rain had past she recovered quickly. She wasn't drowsy and didn't seem to be affected by the medication. Boronia Posted April 18, 2013 Share Posted April 18, 2013 I know that the thunder frightens dogs, but interestingly, my neighbour has a little male Shih-tzu x, Fergie, he is very frightened of storms and they find he settles quickly when they pull the curtains as soon as they know that lightning will be coming and turn on the lights so the room is bright.
