Raw Ears From Fly Bites

 Share

Recommended Posts

We adopted a young female Labrador this week. She came from a sketchy background and was apparently caged when her owners were out as she lived on property.

So both ears are raw [in sections] from fly bites. She doesn't seem bothered by it.

I have tried putting on Cetrigen but she hates it. Tried Natures Botanical Creme, she goes to the lawn and rubs it off.

The flies at our place aren't too bad and she doesn't seem to attract them as she does smell like the creme I posted above. Her ears are quite greasy from the creams.

Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I keep up with the Cetrigen?

She's on a higher quality diet, with added garlic and ginger, now she's with us.

I recommend septicide ointment. It sticks well, keeps the flies at bay & will aid healing as it is an antiseptic ointment for horses & dogs.

This is what I use, Virbac septicide ointment. It's very effective and after trying a few over the years, this is the one I would recommend too.
