Dog Wormer Tablets

Are you absolutely sure that you do not want to protect against tapeworm - there are several varieties? I can understand people in urban areas who do not feed offal not wanting to dose against Hydatid Tapeworm but protection from the more common varieties is usually sought.

Is it heartworm protection that you do not need to include perhaps?

Yes definitely cover for tapeworm. Most cover the common types as well as hydatid. I can tell you I regularly find tapeworm crawling out of urban dogs bums during grooming :vomit: Not as commonly as I used to see it, I think because many people use a multipurpose spot on treatment these days, but I still see it.

Personally I used Drontal allwormer. I actually have to get some today for Mr.shivers and Gruf. I know their weights so I buy exactly what I need from the vet. This way I have nothing left over. 23kg and 5kg is near enough to 30 so I buy 3 x 10kg tabs from the vet. Gruf gets 2.5 tabs and Mr.S gets 1/2 a tab.

There is no distiction between targeting Hydatids & other tapeworm species in broad spectrum wormers, but if the dog is at a high risk of picking up hydatids it is advised to worm at the six week mark with a tapeworm only wormer such as Droncit.

I am getting confused! I need three (or six) dog wormer tablets that do most worms but not tapeworm and need the tablets up to 8kg

What is the most economical tablet (including postage)

Any help appreciated :)

I use Milbemax,I found this the best allwormer especially if ur dog has a sensitive stomach/bowel the Milbemax didnt cause any side effects like other all wormers have...it also protects against Heartworm...$10 from vets over the counter..
