  1. On the SA 7 news tonight there was mention that SA's dog and cat management board 'may' look into toughening up our laws regarding restricted/banned breeds and dog laws. Of course can't find anything on the yahoo7 site [uhg I hate that site].
  2. And thus it starts Continuously deleting cookies and revoting lol. Have a vote fest for a while :D

Yeah saw it here... Tough dog law set to pass in Victoria The anonymous hotline is a worry as anyone with a grudge would be sure to use it.
  4. My first was a Sibe....ended up with three Loved them all and had no real dramas that I remember, obedience training was a breeze =]
  5. not supposed to freeze the bats you find, only refrigerate
  6. Hmmm how I found my way here...it was after my last Sibe passed on and I was researching Boxers and Boxer breeders =]
  7. I have two Boxers and they are quite protective...Tye is overprotective IMO. Last year I became quite ill to the point of blacking out and not answering the phone. My parents rang my neighbour who then came over to check on me. The boys were inside at the time and were ok with the neighbour. She couldn't see me [as the curtains were closed] nor could she get a response from me [she tried for ages]. She called the ambos and the police arrived. The dogs were going to every window barking, growling and guarding [from what I was told later]. The police were to scared to even attempt to break in. Tye looks the part, as he froths at the mouth when he's agitated. Heh I eventually came to long enough to lock the dogs away and go to hospital. But now Tye has become as I said before overprotective of me. I believe he would defend me to his last breath.
  8. Wasn't there a thread a while back with dog breed abbreviations??!! Grey matter is saying there's a bell ringing somewhere

  11. At the local dog training I attended thee was a woman training her Italian Greyhound in a motorised wheelchair, she trained alongside the rest of her class on the lawned area and just compensated for certain training that she couldn't physically do. She had one well trained dog
  12. Could be the big rudder on the back of him lol. Just looks like he's wagging his wik too much and wiggle butting when slow walking. Scout does similar when in wiggle butt wagging wik mode. He looked like he was walking normally when his wik was still long enough.
  13. With Scout, if he is wanting his moist food, he'll nose his steel bowl. If he wants dry food, he'll nose the pantry door. If I ignore him doing this, he'll nose the bin until the lid opens [has a push button thingy lid] knowing that will get my attention. If I leave a door open that he thinks shouldn't be open, he'll nose it shut [only really annoying if cooking something different and need to go back and forth from the pantry - turn around and the door is shut ]...if a door is shut he thinks should be open he'll jump up and turn the handle and open it. He has many other quirky habits
  14. It looks like it is a defnite puppy farm. Hi Pugrescue.... just wondering where this info came from? looks like what's up on Ninemsn
  15. Thanks too Archie.... I was wondering about repellent creams - could smear some between his eyes as there is a large gap between them.
  16. Ah ok, thanks SBT123 sounds like a plan
  17. Scout has been outside having fun [hence mud on his nose in pic], but there are some gnat type things that are biting him around near his eyes and they've become swollen. What is the best type of repellent to use around his eye area to keep them away without hurting his eyes??!!
  18. My two have Royal Canin [boxer 26]
  19. Have two males... Scout started cocking his leg only recently and he's 2 years 4 months old...he still squats and dots on the concrete though. Tye still squats and dots - no attempt what so ever to try and cock, he's only 1 year and 7 months old.
  20. I've used 'telling off naughty objects' for well over 15 years [firstly with the Sibes and more recently with the Boxers]. Works a treat One Boxerbum was a hole digger - after telling off the holes a few times when he was a pup he no longer dug holes. If he got excited and started scratching around I'd just have to say 'Bad Hole" and he'd look at me, look at his paws and run off away from where he was scratching. He's now over 2 years old and there hasn't been any holes dug what so ever Other Boxerbum decided pulling washing off the temp lines under the verandah was a great game. After chastising those 'naughty towels' he no longer pulls any washing off the line Have used this method on numerous other objects all with success.
  21. Might sound silly.... With all my doggos I've had and when they became washing line puller offers I just put old clothes that won't be worn on the line, wait till they've been pulled off and then proceed to 'tell the clothes off'. Your dogs and neighbours might think you've gone bonkers watching you stamp on and grumble at clothing on the ground [i tend to grumble "bad clothes"] and then replace them back on the line. After a few sessions doggos put 2 and 2 together and end up leaving those bad clothes alone [well mine did]. Worked on 3 Sibes and more recently the Boxer bum [who was just starting to show washing line puller offing behaviour] Also works for hole digging too...just tell the holes off. Haven't had Boxer bum dig a hole in ages now since I told off his holes when he first started getting the crution feeling for digging. Sometimes I might see him scratching in the dirt [trying to get the dandelions]...just have to say bad hole and he runs off and does zoomies and forgets about dirt.
