  1. Hehe reminds me of how the Huskies used to play....used called it Teeth Gnashing with just a hint of alien. When the two Boxers played like that, it was more Flob Mashing [too much flobbagob not enough teeth showing].
  2. Heh just got over a dose of the squirts and a sea of poo with Scout recently. Not sure if it was the roo treats or someone giving him tidbits of human food even though being told please don't give the dog any /sigh. Thankfully all back to normal now :)
  3. Seems we've become a society of don't accept responsibility, don't admit guilt and never offer an apology Few years back one of mine was rushed and semi attacked [more growl and slobber than actual biting] by a dog charging out from it's front yard. Went over to the owner who obviously had seen it and said how the dog attacked mine. No sorry or anything, just a shrug of the shoulders and inside she went. So of course rang the council [was in two minds in doing so, but posted in here and the consensus was to report]. Heh they ended up getting a rather large fine as the husband or what ever, was rude to the council inspector as well, so he whacked on as many fines as he could think of that were appropriate  Guess what got up my goat at the time was the no offer of an apology...I wouldn't have probably gone any further had I'd just heard a measly sorry.
  4. Minook - 8 years - Siberian Husky - bone cancer [PTS] Tusca - 9 years - Siberian Husky - lymphatic cancer [PTS] Tasha - 13 years - Siberian Husky - old age shut down [PTS] Tye - 4 years - Boxer - stomach tumours/cancer [PTS]
  5. Probably as they're either too stingy to pay the fees to be legitimate...or don't want to adhere to the code of ethics?
  6. My Sibes, back when they were alive always got... Minook was always a 'dingo' and I shouldn't have such a savage dog in suburbia....for shame at me Tusca was always a German Shepherd and I was wrong - even though Minook was his sire [breeder's contract] /sigh nope I didn't know my own dog's breed. Sorry for the quality of the images...pre digital Currently Scout usually gets picked as a Mastiff puppy, or just a puppy in general as he's so bouncy. Til they ask how old he is and get told he's almost 6
  7. I have a somewhat smart phone, it just doesn't have internet access. But still prefer the ol tag on the dog collar [along with council rego and microchip]
  8. Coming in on the tail end of this with a burning building real life incident [no children involved]. My older friend passed away, her son [who was a bit older than me at the time] took on her three min poodles. A couple of months after she passed on, her son's house caught fire. He went back in to save the dogs as they were all he had left of his mother. He managed to save two of them, but succumbed to smoke inhalation and got badly burnt trying to save the third [which sadly he died in the fire]. After lingering in an induced coma with 80% burns to his body he passed away a few days later. People in intense situations will try and save what matters most to them....can't judge nor blame them for doing so. Everyone's priorities are different and he wasn't a crazy dog guy either.
  9. I always get my dogs desexed as soon as the vet deems them old enough to do so. I've never had a desexing contract with a pup's breeder before, but if in the future that is part of buying a pup then of course I would [as I already do]. I prefer to desex as I'd never forgive myself to an accidental mating...they're not my lines to play around with. In all honesty the males have not changed in the slightest in temp or growth being desexed at 6 months. With talk of vasectomies, it makes me wonder if there's still a chance of getting testicular cancer/prostate cancer in dogs having this procedure done?
  10. Scout gets alerted to any weird/unusual noise or if someone comes around. He's just really woofy/loud...but fine with people who come inside lol. Since Tye passed away, Scout's become more so alert. Tye was the big beefy don't mess with us kind of dog, if he went into protecto mode, he meant business. First and foremost as long as I was safe he was content to bark and foam at the mouth...but he'd never leave my side. A few months back someone had been hanging around late in the night, Scout had smelt them from inside and woke up from a dead sleep growling, wanted out and went tracking where they'd been. Of course no one was around when I went out with the torch and he didn't find anyone either [but they'd been hanging around the shed]. But yes I do feel 'safe' with Scout in the fact he will alert me to anything unusual...but I don't know how he'd go with an actual confrontation. Usually with people he's all YaY people let me lick and lick
  11. I loved it and thought it was cool =] Dogwalker was an interesting add in at the end
  12. YaY glad to hear Alvin is home safe and sound
  13. Scout's on Optimum Adult kibble and 4legs sausage [alternates between the balls and sausage...get funny looks when I say out loud I need to pick up dog balls for Scout to eat]. Tried other kibble but usually just results in explosions from the back end and severe weight loss uhg. He's holding a healthy weight and his coat is glossy [now he's over his seasonal itchies from outside grasses/weeds etc.], he's full of beans and happy. No obnoxious effluvians and his out put consists of lovely little barker's eggs :D
  14. Sorry you had to go through that Guess some people just like to go on bender power trips and rave on thinking they know it all Not being one for confrontations, if I'd been on the receiving end of that vitriol, I would've clammed up and seethed on the inside. Uhg to uneducated people. You're doing the right thing, sought advice and have implemented a training routine to make your dogs good ambassadors of their breed...if she'd been on the receiving end of boisterous, jumpy dogs...she would've complained about that too more than likely.
  15. Sorry, 125g = 1 cup 46 - 50kg - 200g complete mix, 200 mls fresh water, 600g fresh meat *For dogs over 8 years increase the Complete Mix by 10% and decrease the meat by 10%
  16. This what you were after? http://www.vetsallnatural.com.au/CMsheet.pdf
  17. Lol I had the most evil, sadistic cat ever [bully was his name]. For the first 15 years he was a brute, attacked for no reason, bit, hissed, lashed out with claws...go to pat him and he'd latch on with teeth and front claws, whilst going hammer and tongs with his back feet...your arm would come out a bloody mess. But not once did it enter into my head to dump him or the like. He even moved house...couldn't bear to part with the evil bastadido lmao. It was a joy when he finally mellowed out...got 2 lovely years of how he should've been, smarmy, nice and omg purrs out of him, but I think his brain had addled by that stage and he forgot how to be evil He passed on last year and I still miss him. Same with all the dogs I've had and numerous other animals [horses/sheep/birds etc.] - they've been for life. Sometimes, yes there would be genuine people that have to rehome through no fault of their own...but there are always the those who live in a disposable world where any excuse that takes the blame off them suffices
  18. Scout's an in the bed kinda dog, unless he's hot then he moves off to the floor bed [double foam mat] EFS =]
  19. Mine - http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/bPK8gj97Dqd886oE?cmpid=fb_nc Scout, Peril [cat], Carl [goat]
  20. My council does discounts, instead of $45 a year Scout is $25 as he's desexed/microchipped [should be $20 but they've taken off his training certificate for some unknown reason].
  21. Thanks for this topic....reminded me to check Scout's details on his. Uhg had old contact phone numbers, so all fixed up now
  22. I tend to just use my Grampa's Weeder I picked up from the local hardware store. Had it for years and works a treat =] Wanted a chemical free solution when I got Scout.
  23. Thanks for the ideas =] Pers, his skin is dryish at the moment, coat glossy/shiny. Had been refraining from brushing him, but was giving his back a rub and was uhg so much dandruff so zoom groomed him to see how much. But yes you're right, some anti histamine would probably help a lot. Just seems likes it's a really bad time for pollen and other allergens this year =\
