I Make Silly Dog Training Videos!

Excellanto a lot quicker than Scout  -
They arrived with small rivers??!! Cow killing rivers - sorry couldn't help self, especially after reading just above about copywrite and copyright

Trying out Scout on an Ezydog quick fit harness at the moment - bought it about a fortnight ago as was having trouble with underarm rubbing and hair loss with his other one. The chest and back sections have neoprene but the girth strap doesn't, but seems to sit away from being right under his underarm. So far so good, haven't noticed any rubbing.

As a consumer, a survey seems like a good idea

There is historical evidence of Clifford in the wayback machine - the internet historical archive [screen snaps of the RSPCA pages for 2004/2005] http://web.archive.org/web/20041024000335/http://www.rspcansw.org.au/rspca-clifford-mickey.htm http://web.archive.org/web/20041207081747/http://www.rspcansw.org.au/rspca-clifford-mickey.htm http://web.archive.org/web/20050208053434/http://www.rspcansw.org.au/rspca-clifford-mickey.htm

Doing a historical search there was no advertising I could find using the dog in the picture. RSPCA Vic on FB have no pictures up for the 2010 MPW [yet 2009/2011/2012 are there]. Historical pics from RSPCA Vic show nothing in 2010 in regards to the 2010 MPW. I don't know what to make of it. I like to research before sharing things, so opted not to share in this instance. But yes, there is plenty of damning evidence against the RSPCA Australia wide that is researchable...but in this instance I'm not passing judgement, I'm just in two minds in regards to it all.

I Make Silly Dog Training Videos!
Kajirin replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
loved it and thanks to you lovemesideways, it gave me incentive to teach Scout to play dead. So last night taught him the basics and tonight he was doing it well enough to get a vid Thank you again -
Reading through all of this thread, a person's home is no longer their castle I feel for breeders having to face all of this. A place without the option to have a pedigree dog of your choice is not a happy place in my opinion. Also the right to breed dogs on your own property being virtually taken away is just wrong. Have to admit a lot of it goes over my head.

Boxer Very protective of the house until someone is invited in, then it's zoomies and wigglebum mode. Strangers when not home, no idea as he's never left home on his own. Would he protect me - I believe he would [he stands himself between me and any perceived threat as it is]. I just hope that I'm never in the position where he has to be tested.

Surrendering Found Dog To Rescue Rather Than Pound?
Kajirin replied to Pailin's topic in General Dog Discussion
I shush up on things like this now, got raked over the coals on FB for saying that a found dog should've been taken to the council at least [pretty much got called a heartless b$@#*]. Thankfully the dog's owner got found after a few days from a letterbox drop...but meh I was always taught contact the council first, they send dogs to AWL after 72 hours. But it's true not everyone is into social media and may be using old ways of finding their lost pet. My first port of call would be local council, then local vets [last thing on my mind would be social media]. -
I went to Clark Rubber and bought two cut bits of medium density foam [about a meter squared each] came home made covers to fit and have one on the floor in the family room and the other on the floor in my bedroom. The covers were made from old chenille throw blankets - easy to take off and wash when needed. Can't complain only cost $20 for the foam :D They're still going strong 5 or so years later.

Could You Possibly Swap Your Dog For...
Kajirin replied to Kajirin's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd never swap Scout for anything - he's the best dog I've had, but I just find it funny what people offer to swap him for. Yes mixeduppup a fully trained working dog would be well worth the equivalent of a ute :D -
Ok, so I generally take Scout down to the shops and we wait outside whilst others I'm with are in shopping. Scout loves the social interaction, gets lots of pats and the like and is in his element. He's well trained and sedate with kids and the elderly [so they generally crowd around him for a pat and to ask questions]. But what I find weird is what people ask to swap him for, as they see him as a well behaved, sedate dog [lol although he's quite lively and goes into nutso mode at home ]. So today when he was being petted by 5 small kids, they were sitting on the ground in front of him getting him to shake paw and the like - one of them asks "Can I swap you my budgie for your dog? He's so good and I really like him". Told the kid that I was sorry as I already have a budgie Another time I had a woman come up to me and and as she was patting Scout she casually said "Can I swap you your dog for my two naughty Pugs?". I just said errr no sorry. Anyone else get weird swap requests for your dogs when out and about??!!

Think I worked it out to about $10-$12 a week to feed Scout - raw with kibble
-
not sure to be honest, but looking at the pics they supplied - um how on earth could one mistake a ferret for a poodle,

Always found Scout got on well with Staffords and other well built dogs, but yes, most dogs did ostracise him as he was a typical Boxer pup...bouncy, goofy and tactile. He's now 7 years old and nothing much has changed except he's somewhat calmer, but given the chance, he quickly reverts back into bouncy, goofy, tactile mode  His best friend ever was a Stafford, who he taught to play Boxer style :D But I always use a horse lunging lead for free ranging - just be careful not to get your arm pulled out the socket [so to say], maybe have a bungee lead attachment to 'cushion' the end of lead snap. As sometimes when running around or playing they can get to the end of the lead rather quickly, without realising.

aren't those snake repellent stakes something like $100 a pop?

Only thing I could find in relation to age of puppies is for the pet trade... Under the Animal Welfare CoP for animals in the pet trade [take it pet shops] it states.. http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/files/d66b4fbc-75db-4cbb-b0d8-9e6100c27bbc/COP_pettrade.pdf From:- http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/Plants_Animals/Animal_welfare/Codes_of_practice/Animal_welfare_codes_of_practice

Oh will have to tell her about that so maybe the school can get it :)

Mum brought over a story book she'd read to her kids at school - they absolutely loved it. I had a read and got a giggle out of, it is beautifully illustrated and has a funny storyline. http://shop.abc.net.au/products/fearless Might make a good stocking filler or birthday present. ~had a look for old threads of this type to add to, but they were closed, so sorry for making yet another dog book thread~
