  1. Is it worth contacting RSPCA?
  2. We have two living in our road and they are father and son....beaautiful dogs with a lovely temperament. I also have a friend in Victoria who owns one.
  3. I live in rural NW Tassie. I had to put the notice in the paper and anyone living within 200 metres could object. No one did and the dog man came and inspected our set up which is a combination of grassed and paved areas as well as weatherproof shelter. That was it. Then all you have to do is keep your kennel licence renewed annually and register your dogs, both with the local council. Some councils are stricter than others.
  4. Why are you getting upset and bagging out the forum? You made some statements, asked for opinions and now you don't like the responses. If you don't want other people's input, don't invite it, end of story.
  5. Sadly today's scan showed that unless she is hiding a couple under her ribcage, there will be no puppies for Maya this year. A bit frustrating as we did all the prog testing and semen testing routines and everything looked fine. We will try again in 2013.
  6. I get mine from the local Pet Warehouse. I have an Advance Breeders card which one of the local Advance ambassadors helped me get as i had no luck getting a reply on the Advance website. I get the 20 kg bag for $97. I buy them 4 to 6 at a time so I don't run out as we go through a bag every week. :)
  7. Afghans....the way they just seem to float. And maltese just because. :)
  8. When my girl had mastitis I used heat packs and then cabbage leaves then gently hand stripped the affected boob. The stuff that came out was very pus-y but we got it clear and the pups were able to feed from her again. Hope your girl is ok.
  9. Fingers also crossed, flatcoat puppies due 12 November. Scan on October 8.
  10. Where does it show who got the challenges and breed? Or if they are not there does that mean that part hasn't been judged yet??
  11. I have sent puppies between 8 and 9 weeks within Australia. They have all been fine. :)
  12. We will hopefully be having babies about the same time. Maya was mated Monday on day 11.
  13. Love their heads and expressions. Good picks!!
  14. My girls are separated from the boys once they come in season. I use prog testing to guide me as to when to put them together again but they would only be together for the mating and then separated again. The boys would get too worked up otherwise and they would hassle the bitches too much.
  15. People who very loudly ring their friends from ringside after they have been in so that everyone gets to hear how successful they are. And they block the entry while they stand there gasbagging. Really hate people who loudly bag out other people's dogs and other exhibitors.
  16. My dogs are definitely not my children even though we have no children. They are dogs, much love but still dogs. I detest the terms furkids and furbabies.
  17. I often have dreams about dog shows and things are always chaotic.....the dogs are not bathed or groomed, I have forgotten their leads or I am miles away from the ring and it is time to be there....I never dream about going to a show and having big wins.... :D
  18. What a wonderful thing to do!! It is wonderful too that you are watching out for the welfare of all the dogs!!
  19. I really like the name Night Ride To Venus. I want to call a puppy in my next litter that!!
  20. When I was showing both Deputy and Harry a few years ago, while I was in the ring with Deputy a friend would hold Harry ringside. If the friend's attention wandered, harry would cock his leg and wee on her foot!! Very embarrassed. He never did it anywhere else except ringside at shows.
  21. I used Yakult with my babies in the same situation...I think it was about 1ml and I increased it as they got bigger. They thrived.
  22. We won't be there as we will be at a wedding in NZ!! Hope to meet you some time soon though.
