How far is the shed from the back door. My dogs like to sleep as close to the back door as possible but outside.

Time is precious though ;)

Breed Recommendations For "fenceless" Guard Dog.
JulesP replied to Merrirose's topic in General Dog Discussion
KC Blue if you aren't fussed about people actually being able to get in maybe put a lock on the gate when you go out. I ended up doing that after I got home and found my front gate open. Doggies were sitting at the open gate. I have unintentionally trained them not to go out of the open gate unless I say they can. -
Honestly, I wouldn't waste your breath. I doubt the breeder is going to listen and it is going to cause angst.

Your Experience With Registered Breeders
JulesP replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I find talking to breeders at shows rather intimidating as they are all sitting in their little tents. I have been just to see the dogs but I haven't then tried to talk to the breeders unless I know them. -
Your Experience With Registered Breeders

I've never really done the hunt around for breeders. Border Collie 1 as purchased after phoning the border collie club. That was 20 years ago. No hassles at all. The lovely lady found a nice litter for me and off I went. Moss was the best dog. Didn't have contact with the breeder afterwards, not sure if that was really a done thing in those days. I sent a photo of Moss grown up. Border Collie 2 was from a friend of a friend. No hassles again. 15 years on when I lost Moss I called the border collie club again. Again they managed to track me down a litter and Brock arrived. I did stay in touch with Brock's breeder as obviously it is easier to do that now. Brock sort of had 2 breeders (breeders terms litter) and neither gave me any crap. I was rather emotional at the time though so would have been a hard person to give me crap. I had some trouble looking for a pup of a different breed for a friend. So ended up getting them a border collie, lol. Tried to buy a ragdoll kitten. OMG what a rude bunch of people. Very nearly got a kitten from a pet shop but managed to control myself. Found a Birman breeder who wasn't a lunatic and got a kitten. -
I've done the method with a very reluctant dog Cosmolo and I don't think she would ever have picked it off the ground. In fact i did run into issues when I did put the dumbell on the ground. Lucky she understands English and after listening to me say "please pick it up for Mummy" (said with hands in face), the little dear did pick it up. I was about to have hysterics at that stage, lol.

Cosmolo have a read of this - http://www.shirleychong.com/keepers/retrieve.html Not sure if you are familiar with this method?

I wouldn't be putting the dumbell on the ground until the dog is taking it from my hand. Putting it on the ground is missing a few steps out.

I thought Cindy was a Goldy too You need to put a heap more energy into it Sue. Make the object interesting by putting it behind you or hiding it and producing it quickly. You sort of want the dog looking for the object. I think it is that energy that builds a frustration so they actually put it in their mouth.

I've fed it with no issues. I prefer it to tins of sardines as it seems less messy, I always end up with sardine oil all over the place. FFD does work out more expensive then the cheap sardines though. I would only use it very occasionally though.

No wet clipping didn't seem to damage the blades. I obviously immediately cleaned and oiled them afterward.

Others have replied  It works nicely. I still had one border collie that was so matted that I had to cut a clipping path first with the scissors. Grrr. I never really understood that one as this boy sat still and never budged for the whole ordeal of getting his coat off. He would have been a breeze to brush. Idiot owners just got him clipped once a year instead. I don't even know how a border can get that matted in the first place. Must have been from the clipping.

Em's Early Retrieving Training
JulesP replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
She is super cute. I assume this for retrieving trials? -
Mmmm humbled. This is one of the things that add to my nerves. I almost need to fail to see that it isn't that bad. Feeling the pressure even more after getting a decent score with Poppy. Interesting distractions at training tonight, the soccer club were doing drills right next to our rings!

This is why I am not a groomer anymore ;) Wet clipping actually works quite well with cases like this. Gets some of the fleas out first too. You might need to go quickly back over the coat once dry.

A Good Diet For 6 Week Puppies
JulesP replied to blondeborder's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I hope you are at least keeping the puppies until they are 8 weeks old. We took our puppy home at 7 weeks, not a problem at all with him. He is one of the brightest smartest dogs I know. That is nice for you and totally not in line with what this forum is about. Im sorry can you please explain??? Registered breeders are required to keep their puppies until at least 8 weeks old. This forum supports those guidelines. -
