  1. My borders do the lazy sits too. The come in perfectly straight, look like they are going to sit straight and then at the last moment slump and rock back.
  2. I got fairly hysterical when Moss turned 10yo. I looked up their life expectancy, got a bit more hysterical. He lived until he was 15yo! So the hysteria was a bit premature. When this current lot get to that age I might be a might more freaked about my age, lol.
  3. I love beagles. Other people's beagles They are a breed that never fail to make me laugh, usually at the owners expense One used to be in my agility class and he was great and went well until he had a 'beagle moment' and then he would be just gone!
  4. I assume that Piper knows about her herding experience. Good grief I am trying to help you here. I give up.
  5. Why does it surprise you GSDs? I would say that not one person that I do ANKC herding with could name any of the 3 sheep/trial people. So why would I want to do a herding clinic with an agility person? If you want to encourage people to go to a clinic it is a good idea to supply information about the instructor. This is the Victorian herding list - http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/vicherding/
  6. You might want to list Denise's herding experience. I wouldn't go to a clinic based on her other dog experience There have been other people talking about C courses in Victoria. You probably need to advertise on one of the herding Yahoo lists.
  7. I haven't really changed anything I already did a heap of the 'DOL' things. It has just made me fret about things a heap more!
  8. I'm not a fan of seeing bones personally and would keep the dog just covered. Don't think she is a RSPCA case though. With the wobbling I would be more concerned that she had been drugged.
  9. Yep all my borders like to drop Sit stays are a pain in the bum too. They all drop really quickly too, no folding back stuff. Not actually sure how they do it, lol. Drop on recall and change of position are their 'party tricks'.
  10. I did steady feet before the stand with Amber too TSD. Stand was the only thing that it caused problems with. Borders are weird about standing too though!
  11. TSD if she is dropping in the luring make sure your hand stays up, When they drop it is usually because the handler has moved the hand slightly down in the luring. For pups that are sticky (oh noes I have to sit here and not budge because you has food....) I usually get the handlers to move back a bit themselves as they lure, this might be a body tilt or it might be a step. If the pup is stretching its nose out and still thinks it can't move then I tend to give some verbal encouragement too 'ok' or some other break ok to eat word.
  12. Not too old at all A recall is needed. A stay is good. If you can get your dog to drop or sit from a distance that is also really handy. Corgis are great little herders!
  13. Pet Network (advertise on DOL) are good. The owner is a showie too so pretty helpful.
  14. Surely they will just reissue the notice and you will have annoyed them. I try to avoid annoying rangers.
  15. I called Puppybars yesterday and his current delivery date is April.
  16. I asked a couple of agents this week about renting with 3 dogs. They all said that I would be able to get something but not sure if I believe them!
  17. If you don't want to attach anything to the fence or shed you could use 2 star pickets to hold the dog mesh in place. I would have the mesh going a fair bit past the gap in each direction.
  18. What about a corgi? They can be brilliant little workers. This thread has made me realised I am very biased towards herding breeds lol.
  19. I would be really careful with visitors in your house. I would personally be keeping him away from people, wouldn't want an accident at this stage. How do you walk him? I would be walking on his blind side (to make him feel safer) and I would be having him in the heel position. I would be going off the path and getting him to sit to allow people past.
  20. http://petproductsontheweb.com.au/ took ages to get my wormers to me. Over two weeks. I didn't think the customer service was very good either. Have never had a problem with Priceless Pets.
  21. You obviously don't know too many border collies. I have zero problem with you giving your breed a plug. I have a major problem with you slagging my breed off. Not happy Jan.
  22. I never never try and pat Chis. (sorry Chi owners).
  23. I think you need to have a chat to your vet about this development. You have been given a warning and so far nothing bad has happened. I've read some bad stories about what dogs have done when effected like this, things like launching themselves through windows to attack people. This isn't an aggressive dog it is a sick dog. If it was my dog I would giving him his wings. If the cancer is in his brain is the chemo going to work? I am really sorry that you are going through this.
