Yes my problem was with the vet. I was sure that she was whelping but got told I was being a silly first time breeder. Then I got green pus. Got sent home with injections to try and induce her. Didn't work and went back to get asked if I wanted the bitch or pups saved. Did a c-section and 3 out of the 4 pups lived. Pup that caused the trouble was stuck. I loved having the pups themselves but didn't enjoy the homing process.

Grover Is Really Sick - Another Change

Super news! -
I did recently get a call from one of the people that adopted one of my first litter to ask if I was still breeding as that border had crossed the bridge. It was touching that they wanted another pup from me.

Lovely thing to do Dyzney

Each time I get a new pup I toy with the idea of breeding again. Think I wrote a similar post 2 years ago when I got my last girl, lol. I've bred one litter which caused me lots of distress when the vet asked me if I wanted him to save the bitch or the pups. (the bitch and pups made it btw). That was 11 years ago now and I don't think I have recovered yet. I wondered in here and read the Litters Due in December thread that has had me absolutely howling. So how do you do it, knowing all the things that can go wrong? Not just with the birth but with the new owners. Do I just over think things too much?

I am not a rush to the vets for any little thing type pf person but I do think the pup needs to go to the vet ASAP.

It might not be an allergic reaction though it might be a toxic reaction. Is the pup getting worse?
-
What flea control are you using and how many times have you used it?
-
Is it just a straight shampoo for pups?
-
What are you washing the pup in? If you have been using flea shampoo everyday that might be a problem. You need to treat all the pups bedding for fleas too, or fleas will just hop straight back on to her.

Question For Volunteer Instructors

I did feel like I was 'churning' them out at the end of the year. Taking a break is not viewed well though. -
Question For Volunteer Instructors
JulesP replied to JulesP's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'm up to 2.5 years of pretty much every Sunday. Really could use a break and rather need one as I don't know how I am going to train the new pup and Poppy. But I feel guilty! -
Appointments Or Walk-in At Vets...
JulesP replied to stormie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Appointments that are on time! My vet has got shocking and I have been waiting 45+ mins lately. Which seemed to be due to people popping in to talk to her! Mainly because I would rather not hang around in a room with sick animals. Mine are usually in for vaccinations. -

Everything crossed for good news. -
Think we have a couple of volunteer instructors on here. How does your club work out rosters for instructing? Do you find you are teaching every week or do you get breaks? How long do you think is long enough putting back into a club?

I chucked a dumb bell once and hit myself in the head with it so I think I will be giving frisbee a miss -
World Dog Games On Ch 7 Right Now
JulesP replied to shoemonster's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That's what I was thinking! lol, I was quite disappointed at the lack of other breeds, I was however very happy to see a toller in there. It would have been nice to have other breeds than just collies in most of those sports though, these sports are supposed to be for any dog but it felt like I was watching the world border collie games, not the world dog games. No offence to ppl who own them but it was even noted by my oh and his best friend who half way through went "and what breed is this OH WAIT! its ANOTHER border collie, seriously is that the only dog that can do these????" and those two don't really know much about dogs in the first place. :D No offense? Sorry but I do find comments like this offensive. Anyone could enter. -

CK is toooo cute!!! -
ROFLMAO Love it!

I used Performance mainly for my last pup. It is a good food for a multiple dog household if you don't want to feed them all something different. The breeders bags are usually available in the stores.

My old dog is really bad in the mornings. It isn't cold so it can't be that. She will not eat, will not get out of bed, eyes are all funny, is more dotty than normal, shakes. I go to work thinking 'this is it'. I get home and she is at the gate wagging her tail looking a heap brighter, eats dinner but is still a bit dotty. It is really doing my head in. Everything about her in the morning is saying that she needs her wings. At night she looks like she could go on for a while. Has anyone else experienced this?

Try and do some practice in group stays. The dogs are pretty close in a trial. If you do shadow handling (as we should be!) I would give that a miss for the lead up and focus on your obedience. Have you got your left about turn worked out?
-
I leave mine filled up with water and only use it once a month. My water doesn't get smelly?
-
Why are you cleaning the enclosed tank?

I think the idea behind the packaging is that we are not paying for fancy packaging. :D All the bags I have seen have the ingredients list on them. I was a little bit dubious when I got the first bag, I liked the ingredients though so thought I would give it ago. As I have reported the dogs have done well on the food. Both younger dogs have sensitive skin too.
