I hope medication can control it. Wasn't sure if you meant she slept on your bed or in her own. In either case, perhaps crating through the night would be the most convenient way to manage it.

LOL I had to google to find out what VAN meant. Can you buy it over the counter anywhere, or is it only On Line?

He gets dried chicken necks from time to time and occasionally I'll put an egg into his food. I'll give the pumpkin and sweet potato a try. I really only give him so much vegetable to try to get the quantity up. He is the only dog I've ever had who demolishes his food in a few seconds flat.

That is why I started this thread :) He is walked regularly, most often twice daily, but he will not be hurried :D Food is warmed up but I've not thought of cooking it. They all get bones (dried roo tail) which Bunter chews on for days.

I have a little dog who would eat until he burst, I think . He is slightly overweight, but not enough to be overly concerned, but I don't want him to put on anymore weight. As he is from a pound, I don't know his breed except he definitely has Pomeranian in him and, I have often thought, maybe Corgi, because he is very solid with quite solid leg bone structure, nothing like the delicate frame of a Pomeranian. He is fed mostly raw mixed with vegetables. However, very often his poos are very sloppy and I wonder if it could be the vegetables. I buy mixed frozen vegetables from Woolies, steam them a little and then puree. This is mixed in with his meat. If I fed him Kangaroo, I could feed him more meat and not as much vegetable, but I am concerned that just Kangaroo won't meet his nutritional needs. Pic of Bunter below. Grateful for advice from the experts LOL.

The words that stood out for me in that article were "what do I need in a dog", not "what do I want". Very enlightened concept. Obviously, having a list of wants is necessary, but as very clearly set out in that article there is a helluva lot more to consider than just "wants".

Before becoming involved in rescue and joining DOL where I've learnt about "couch potatoes", I probably would have had thoughts similar to the jogger's. LOL. Will read full article later.

Jeune has back dew claws with hang by a bit of flesh. I have tossed up from time to time having them removed, but invariably forget because she rarely needs goes to the vet except for annual vax. Although they dangle there (a bit like tags LOL) they don't seem to get caught on anything or inconvenience her. She does have a problem with one of her front ones breaking from time to time though. I've have to check the others to see what they have.

The question regarding resusitation is on the form for emergency admission - just par for the course. I hope your little dog is on the improve, sausy.dog. I think I must have jinxed Myrtie by discussion her HGE episodes as I am just back from leaving her at the vets (normal not emergency) because there was a little bit of blood in her poo while out walking. It may come to nothing, but seeing she is prone, I wasn't takiing any chances. If she isn't looking too good later this evening, I will take her to SASH, because they don't monitor overnight at the vets. -
Yes, I agree. I know of two dogs who had a diet of Pal and freddo frogs and lived till they were 15 or so  And that would mean that their genes were okay with that

So pleased he is home safe and sound. If he is becoming obsessed with eating grass, perhaps go over your yard to see if there is anything just growing there that you aren't aware of. Ziggy, get well mate and stop worrying your mum. -
I know you said aside from genetics, Blackdogs, but I feel the same as Cosmolo. When you've been associated with rescue and seen some of the most comprised dogs you can imagine, you'd think it would have to be good genes pulling them back from the brink once they have access to medication, good food, safe and loving surroundings, etc.

Hope your little one recovers quickly. My tiny weeny Myrtie had two bouts in under 12 months and has recovered well. Healing thoughts from the pack here. -

Hugs and healing thoughts, Staffluv. I must admit I wondered, too, if tonight's episode was related to the last one. You are both in our thoughts tonight. -
Dog Attack In Brisbane - Toddler In Hospital
Loving my Oldies replied to arjay's topic in In The News
He is a politician. Exactly what I'd expect in the first rush of blood after an horrendous attack. -
Exactly. That is a very naive and potentially dangerous statement, Mantis. Strange isn't it. We all accept that dogs are capable of experiencing most if not all the emotions humans do, so why not anger, meanness, nastiness, etc etc.

Anyone Want To Adopt A Nana Pom $100?
Loving my Oldies replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
What about Varicool? What about Nana Pom going into foster as an honorary Tibbie? :D :D Thank god she is in Brisbane ............. DD, Nana Pom is at Yagoona RSPCA in Sydney. Just happenstance that both Don & the Nana Tibbie are in Qld. Oh Lordy .... I didn't read the title properly. Just looked at Donatella's location. If the RSPCA Wants to show that it is worthy of calling itself "For all creatures great and small" and put in a bit of effort, they'd have people queuing up for that little dog. -
Sacrifices Made, Large Or Small
Loving my Oldies replied to Pollywaffle's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't think I would call anything a sacrifice - more of an adjustment, really. I would certainly have a lot more money and a much nicer lounge suite and lovely Persian rugs on the floor (so there goes any money saved  ). There has been a lot of heartache along the way since dogs came into my life. Their devotion, stoicism, live-for-the-moment attitude and acceptance make me feel totally inadequate and unworthy a lot of the time. I would certainly have lots more unbroken sleep, I would be able to hop in the car and go off on a quick holiday, I could fly up to Brisbane or down to Melbourne for visits at a moment's notice. And, like Mantis, I have put off an operation because I simply don't know how I would manage looking after myself, 5 dogs and one cat while in a sling 24/7 for six weeks and unable to drive for 6 weeks and very restricted for another six weeks. Anyone in the market for 5 dogs and one cat ?
