You mean Loraine's thread? If so, maybe this one? http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=207920&hl= Just do a search on her name and you will see her threads. There are no great secrets.

Yeh - it was many months ago. And I am not good at reviving old threads. Can never find them. :D I just thought it might be an idea to try in this situation. Purely guesswork - no more than that.

I was thinking back to Aidan's post on it a while ago - and I THINK there was something about them needing carbohydrates with it? Does he have carbs in his meal? If not, try adding a small amount of rolled oats or something with it and see if that helps?

Psychological Or Physical - Help Needed With My Lab
noisymina replied to RPMgirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lightning struck the telephone pole out the front of out place once. Our telephone line is aerial and therefore run on the same poles as the power. The power must have tripped the breaker so that was ok. But the surge came down the phone line, destroyed the phone, zapped the TV remote that was on a table near it, which then zapped and killed the TV. Thankfully we were not home. Even more thankfully, nobody was using the phone at the time. -

Best Shampoo To Use On Your Dogs?
noisymina replied to BMAK's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
WHAT BREED OF DOG DO YOU HAVE? Dobermann TYPE OF COAT? Short. WHAT DO YOU USE? My preference at the moment is Dermcare Natural Shampoo. Followed by vinegar rinse. And rinsed agian with water. And some Pyohex cream after rubbed into the back area just froward of the tail where she still seems to get some flaky/itchy stuff. We used Pyohex Shampoo, and later Maleseb for a while. That took care of most of thst itchy/flaky stuff bu that one area has been stubborn. AND DOES IT WORK? Pretty well, I guess. I also don't like the Aloveen. I am ordering something new to try as well. It's an anti allergy treatment - for the OWNER'S allergy, not the dog's allergy. -
My 3 yo girl gets this as a preventative....so far so good, but she is only young, time will tell, I guess Can we check back with you in 10 years time? Yeh - my girl is tad older than that.

That's OK. I'd rather the good news than the bad. I'm all for a bit of levity. After all, I DID kind of ask for it in the way I posed the question, hey?

Thank you all for the replies. And yes Wuffles I would have thought so, but I'm a human and not a dog! I'm glad to hear that they DO differentiate too. As you can tell, I grew up city style. I'm only a "pretend" country person in many ways. Still learning.

Thanks for all the replies. So it doesn't follow that one should be concerned for any small children this dog might also be associating with? Since, I assume, the kids are part of the pack and not prey?

When a "herding" dog kills a chook and the owner doesn't see it as greatly significant because "it was just the herding instinct kicking in", what would be your thoughts on the subject? Just to claify, I believe the chook was free range on the property at the time and the dog did not have to get into any enclosure etc to get to the chook. Oh - and to clarify further - it's a mixed breed dog too.

She Swallowed A Whole Turkey Neck -
noisymina replied to noisymina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes - she did that once before. I think she would have done it again if we'd let her. Gross isn't it? I was concerned originally about avoiding it as I can think of worse things happeneing when she swallows something like that. But she chucked tonight too - different mix - no big bones. She used to gulp when we first got her, but she has not for a long time. The food is ususally at least half frozen - which had slowed her. It will need to be more frozen, it seems. -

Yeh. I gave her a very small amount to dry late last night. And it stayed down. She had her light brekky - and I THOUGHT it stayed down, but can't be sure. Tonights dinner was oin the small side, tho. So will keep to small (without bones or add ons) and watch more carefully. She does not seem unwell in any other way. No temp, no hard or touchy tummy. Still widdling. Active - the old girl still has a spring in her step. So I'm not panicking just yet. -

Update - she just chucked tonight's dinner too. Mince and three chicken necks. I'm thinking we might have a problem on our hands. Will watch her very closely tomorrow. If I see it again, that will mean a vet visit, me thinks. I'll stop all but one of the meds/supplements she is on for now, just in case they are to blame. -

Thanks for the help. We will take her food out of the freezer and put it in the fridge section in the mornings instead of the night before. That way it will be a bit harder when we feed it that night.. Will see what she does with that. I also told the guys I think we should leaver her outside for a while after she has eaten - just in case she is gulping her food in order to get back inside faster. Who knows what going through her head? . -

Yeh - it was only HALF frozen. Will have to make it tougher for her. Don't want her to break a tooth on it, tho. Dogs. What would we do without them? -
Alternative Therapies For Anxiety
noisymina replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Loads of dogs are actually allergic to it, interesting huh, especially as it's meant to be good for skin Yeh. I didn't know that. Kasie is doing well on it. Between the diet and extra grooming lately, she's so shiny she's dazzling! WOOHOO! Pleased it's doing its' job! She got P***ed with me for washing her this morning. -
No wonder her tummy rebelled. She's done that a couple of times in the last few months. I guess Turkey necks are off the menu? What do you think?
-
I came across the same issue with Kaisie - she NEEDS some fat in her diet. She was doing well with a bit of the Nutro Lamb and Rice + Raw before they took it off the shelves. I've just sourced another pack but have not opened it yet. I don't know if the formula has changed.

:D Yep - house vacuumed and mopped, floor mats washed, all pet bedding washed. Pathways hosed/swept. Clothes washed. DOG washed. Owner washed. Washed dog still smells dog. Clean dog still smells better than dirty dog. So..................if your house smells of dirty dog. ;) But clean dog is ok. :D :D

Wonderful. I'm so glad he is comfortable. Off to looky ............. Hope I don't get tempted but I bet I will...................................

Yes, I put a squirt of that in the bucket to mop the floors.
