  1. aaah, amazing, I just knew "Rage" would be brought up in relation to cockers. Do some research, rage is NOT common and possibly related to epaleptic (sp) fits. It is also more prevalent in other breeds. People confuse the term rage with a bad temperament. Yes back in the late 1800s breeders were trying to cement the solid gold colour and inbred and inbred to get the colour and forgot about everything else, consequently they ended up with some shocking temperaments, HOWEVER, by the 1900s they had worked to fix the temperament problem and nowadays, mostly, cockers are sweet, well tempered dogs. Like every other breed, without exception, there will be the odd dog with a bad temperament. This is when some people will say RAGE RAGE RAGE! But no, it is, unfortunately, a bad temperament. I have viscious bitches! When they are coming into season they hate each other until they are actually in when they love each other, especially to hump!
  2. happy to be corrected if I'm wrong .. but I don't believe that's the case currently; Grand Champion Title 1,000 points including 1 All Breeds Best in Show; or 4 Best in Group; or 4 Certificates of 25 points. (these could be Group, BOB or Challenge) It does not state that the BIS or BIG must be 25pts. You are right, it just needs to be BIG, doesn't matter how many points. On Friday at Illabo there were four dogs in the Utility group, one Dobe, two Rottweilers, all in Intermediate so only two dogs in the group line up, and one neuter. BIG...8 points! Ridiculious that this can count towards a Grand title.
  3. I would hate to see it revert back, the title GRAND deserves to NOT be easy to obtain. While I don't have a rare breed I believe that ANY quality dog will win at the top level. For those that say 'how many such and such breeds have you seen winning at the top level' I could say 'well how many of so and sos dogs do you see win at the top level'. Personnally I have won up to RU BIS with cockers but never cracked THE top one, and also RU BIS with the foxie but not THE top one. These are both popular breeds but I haven't got there, YET! Bottom line...I believe if the dog is good enough, no matter what breed, it will get the top occolade! PLEASE don't wish for a title that is shit easy to get! Any dog can get there with lots of travel so leave it a more prestigious award. JMHO.
  4. Thanks everyone. The gundog prac is either 24 or 28 Nov. They will let us know. But where is everyone else? I know of some people who passed but not many. Should I name the ones I know?
  5. I will kick it off. I am so relieved to say I have received my letter to say I passed the Gundog theory exam, whoo hoo.
  6. Well I said I would post about how we got on with parking at the Royal. Same as every other year, arrived at 7.30, drove straight in to drop off, Mick pushed the loaded trolley while I walked Finn, Mick nicked off to the loo then went back to the car, Mick drove to the racecourse and walked back and was back with me by 8.15. All in all a smooth operation. We then walked back to the car with Mick pushing the trolley and me walking Finn )I always get the easiest job hehe), I fed and walked Finn while Mick packed the car and we were out of the racecourse by 5.17pm. I must admist that it is far easier when you have two people, I would never go on my own. Oh, by the way, Finn won his class whoo hoo!
  7. Am I missing something? What breed? Sorry if you have said and I am just not seeing it.
  8. Well I am another one that has never had a problem, we arrive around 7am, drop off me and the dog and Mick goes to Flemington and walks back up. If things have changed I will let you know after I have been there Monday.
  9. I can do Foxies - Smoothes and probably wires as well. Text me your number - 0437 903713
  10. Well to avoid this sort of thing happening I believe shows should close 2 weeks before the actual show with NO LATE ENTRIES taken! If people don't get their entries in before closing date (WITH NO EXCEPTIONS) they will get them sent back and they will soon learn. As things are now Show Secs and Cataloguers are expected to take entries into the last week before the show and get abused if they don't. I blame the show secs and committees who make the decision to take the late entries. Do it once and you will get your fair quota of entries, on time, the next year.
  11. Say what The poor dog was on lead and had another dog, off lead, rush up to it. It doesn't matter how big the does is, it obviously thought it was being attacked and reacted to protect itself!! Well done accepting the blame Joypod! I am sure you have learnt a valuable lesson, fortunately without too much damage to your frenchie.
  12. Thanks for all the replies and thoughts. The reason I posted this was because I was seeing some very old dogs, some obviously 'pet' dogs ( I don't mean this derogetry, just that they look like dogs that breeders have sold as pets because they didn't shape up0 for the show ring (that is what we all do)), some dogs that were overweight and some not groomed very well. I have to say that I thought this very disappointing. Now a days I am seeing better specimens but they are still thin on the ground. Thanks again.
  13. I won't take your comments on cockers to heart but if the only problem with the goldies is that he can't reach the head and tail at the same time then why not teach son and dog to free stack? He can hold the head when the judge is there if need be.
  14. And then it continues with: Riverina Districts - 2/9 Grenfel - 3/9 RD - 4/9 RD - 5/9 West Wyalong - 6/9 WW SS - 7/9 WW - 8/9 Murrumburrah Harden - 10/9 Each one is a seperate full show.
  15. Whilst I feel Ozentries is a wonderful tool, it does tend to allow some very late closing dates which creates a much tighter deadline for our hard working show secretaries/cataloguers. Tehy do their best with the time they are given Thanks Aziah.
  16. Yes a shame that I had other things to do that I deemed more important. Thems the breaks when the show is left open so late for all those people that feel it is their right to send entries in sooooo late!

Don't panic. As I see it, the Federal Government won't have the power to pass legislation and I doubt the states will give it to them. We don't have national road rules, a national set of criminal laws or a national curriculum yet.. can't see why this will be any different. But then we have a national ban on tail docking
  18. Just curious, has anyone here offered up their advice, as experts, to solve this problem? If so, what was the response from the relevant Government? ,
  19. But don't you think there is something wrong when a breed has to be 'kept' in a certain way? Muzzled etc?
  20. Thank god for someone like Steve Austin to voice what many are thinking. Too too many attacks by this type of dog, when will it stop?
  21. I so hope this breed takes off. I fell in love with the Bracco when I was doing research for my essay on the Bracco for judges training. If/when I pass gundogs I hope I get the chance to judge them
  22. Yes I have several leads from Mel and love them too and the service but just thought I would try one a bit different and love ot too.
  23. Yes I have got one and it is GORGEOUS!!! I love it, reasonably priced and EXCELLENT service.
