  1. Thank you Everyone for your lovely replies She may have to come out to dinner with us on our next wedding anniversary in Nov , since it will be her 1st birthday then as well !
  2. Im using in conjunction with a mostly natural and raw diet for Miah '4 legs' as recommended by her breeder. She's been fine with it. I cant get the puppy one here, but one of their rolls is still ok for puppies and small dogs. I buy it from Woolworths.
  3. Im going through that with my 10 year old Cav (yes i know cavs are always on the hunt for food, but hers is extreme). She keeps putting on weight tho, not from from over feeding her, altho i have been giving her lots of veges to see if that will fill her up, but its full of carbs a friend was telling me, so not really ideal for her to loose weight with. The vets have been testing her for diabetes, and theres been some talk of Cushings, but i think you need specific tests done for that.. level markers are under normal for each of those tests but not conclusive enough to act on Ok reread your post and Renae doesn't search out anything weird, just for normal food stuff
  4. Thank you Everyone Hankdog there's more pics of her in her blog
  5. Our little Miah (pronounced as My ah) is now 18 weeks old, and is doing really well. We started puppy school with her last week, and this weekend we have taken her out on a couple of outings. Shes very friendly, outgoing, confident and smart ! We are so in love with her ! Its the first time I/We have ever owned a puppy, and even tho its tiring and exhausting at times, I am so glad to be finally experiencing the joys of owning one Today she went to one of our local markets, where she was fussed over by lots of people and kids, followed by a little fun time at one of our local beaches. She's settling in beautifully with us all here :)
  6. Hope your dogs will be ok Nic B ! Its a worry where we live too, however our cavs are mostly inside. Altho it only takes one time i guess being outside! Some people have those solar snake repellers around here, but i have heard mixed reports about how effecient they are.
  7. Ok thanks, im not sure what brand it was and even where I got ours from. But its no good now
  8. where can you find the real tough Kongs from? I bought one years ago for our older cavs (and I thought it was a fairly heavy duty type even tho I didnt think they needed that type), and its never been chewed and suddenly our 14 week cavalier puppy has chewed heaps of the end bits of it. Ive had to throw it in the bin now as I didn't want her swallowing all the little rubber bits from it eeek The one I had for them was a medium size
  9. I was disappointed to see on a local lost/found/rehoming fb page (run by someone at one of our local vets) yesterday, that they had done a post on behalf on some one who it sounds like rehomes... (not sure if it was a rescue organisation or just some person doing it on their own ?) but they were looking for a home for young kelpie, not desexed and it was being given away I left a reply under it that surely they should be desexing it first, which the person who runs the page said they would look into it (probably just to keep me quiet !) We have enough BYB that goes on in our area as it is and people looking for entire free dogs! Just hopefully it ends up in a responsible good home !
  10. Miah's first night of puppy school tonight :) http://julesluvscavs...n.html?spref=fb
  11. I guess in our situation its different as she is old now and we never take her off leash anyway.. Shes very into hand signals and eye contact even when she was younger before she went deaf.. I rarely took her off leash and I never trialed her like my past dogs.
  12. Personally I would never use one of my deaf dog. She responds well to our hand signals :)
  13. Oh ok I didnt know that nowstarin Thought it was too good to be true ! So where do all the other sites originally buy theirs from? here in Australia.? I haven't even checked to see if the products are made here..
  14. Thanks DD Ill give the natural stuff im trying atm a go first, if not I will see if i can get some. Shes already sleeping too much as it is and would hate anything to relax her too much more.. Ps.. I will do a search too on here. I had some once so i could cope with getting in a MRI, and i walked into the glass doors of the hospital after. Luckily I din't get badly hurt !!
  15. Thankyou kevsam, :) I'll take a look, Ok just quickly checked and for the product im after compared to the ones below they are Price: $33.52 per EACH! so they are the cheapest! . Have you been happy with their service and reliability? Are the expiry dates on them ok? So far just with comparing the Revolution 3 pk for small dog (my preferred choice of heartworm treatment) Budget pet offers the lowest price with free shipping $45.50,(without needing to do a minimum order of over $50 like Oved needs... as they are the cheapest $39, but not sure what their postage is yet, haven't been able to go further in the checkout because of not putting in an order over 50) Stefmar were $41.07 (not sure about postage) but it was on special. It seems normal price is $49.50. Most of you have said you have been happy with Budget pet, so I will probably order my next lot from them, or outpetworld. Just picked up the same product from the vets and paid about $63! Anyway bottom line is that all the sites you guys have recommended are cheaper than getting from my vets, so thank you
  16. Hope you are able to get some answers and help him with it Pollywaffle !
  17. well im surprised the vets haven't said about trying some, and we have told them we are concerned about her shakes etc (they have seen her do it. its just the front part of her).. If what im trying atm doesn't help, then next time she goes there, I will ask! would it help with the trances/mini fits as well?
  18. Try very small doses of valium. I havent got any of that DD ;-) Im trying naturally to start with so giving her organic oats and charmomille tea .. see how we go with that first.. I thought the vets would have suggested something by now, but they haven't.. but she also have very small fits/trances now as well
  19. Renae has never been an anxious dog, but at almost 11, shes not been in great health of late and has starting having some health and older age related symptoms. One is some shaking just at random times, not at anything in particular. We are trying out some natural herbal stuff atm to see if it helps, as the vets cant seem to help with it
  20. I was in the same boat last year as you Lollypop ! And then on top of all that waiting, once the puppies were born we had to still wait for another 4 weeks to even know if we were getting one. The waiting was unbearable and I couldn't say too much to anyone ! Its very exciting, enjoy the journey and its natural to be a bit nervous too! What breed of dog are you on the waiting list for ?
  21. I should have realized what they were ! Its terrible being a vego and having to give my pets all sort of stuff ewww at the first doggy kindy session last week, the trainer was showing us how you can give them horse hooves to chew on as well ! Im a horse lover Thats great that the trainers at the puppy school that you both will be going too have Belgians too! The trainer at ours is a registered breeder of Bichon Frise and Lagotto Romagnolos, so used to all sizes of dogs :) Looking fwd to seeing some pics of Flynn when you are able to post some ! And thank you also re Miah
  22. Thank you everyone, Im still doing the comparisons.. but all the sites you all have given me are pretty good with their prices. Its just a matter of which ones offer free postage in their total (still working that out) My vet clinic rang today to say they ended up getting some revolution in for me, just the 3 pack (even tho its for the next weight up) but Ive seen better prices on some of the sites given in here, so I will get the next lot online :) Appreciate everyone's input
  23. Thats how our new puppy's breeder was too :)
