  1. Thanks also twodoggies, Im still getting the hang of it all.. feeding this way. My other cavs have had raw bones in the past, but ive mostly always cooked their meals(not bones) and or given them dry food, Her lovely breeder did give me lots of feeding advice, but i just wasn't sure about how to go about giving the chicken frames exactly
  2. Thats a good idea to go by weight, which is how im going by with her normal meals anyway, I will give it a go, thanks for all your replies, much appreciated BlackJaq
  3. Thanks Critsnbits for you reply also :) So is the general idea to give them them as a meal or an extra to a meal.. is it enough to be a meal? i suppose it depends what size you cut it up into, so it may not be easy to answer ... When i give her a chicken neck, i also give her a smaller serve of one of her normal sized meals..
  4. Ive popped in today to say im still thinking you and to give you more cyber hugs x
  5. Thanks BlackJaq, I was thinking about getting some containers to store all her meals instead of using plastic bags. Its all trial and error me us atm. Her breeder did give me some to start her off with.. but i need more :) I shop at Woolies, so I will have a look next time Im there for those scissors :) Shes not minding anything raw im giving her, even the hearts (just a few pieces cut off it) my husband cut up for her last night she ate very quickly eeek
  6. Thanks BlackJag for your helpful reply :) I don't have any of those type scissors, but Im sure my husband could find something around our house to cut through them lol Yes its why i want to start her on bigger bones now, shes still very small, but cavaliers have a way of inhaling stuff quite easily I haven't tried them even for Joey and Renae ever to be honest! first time Ive ever bought them Noisy, they were on special too Id have to feed them all separately tho, as Renae since shes gotten old, deaf and not well, shes getting very uptight at meal times My freezer is chocoblock atm full of packed up meals for Miah, Im not doing too bad atm with this raw and natural diet for her considering im a vego ! altho i bought some hearts the other day and thats freaked me out Had to get hubby to cut them up for me ! eeeek ewwww !
  7. So I bought some chicken carcass frames for the first time, and Im wondering how am I supposed to give it to my puppy (Cavalier), shes now just over 15 weeks old. Do i give it as a whole frame, or cut it up somehow ? is it meant replace one meal ? and how often would you give them one ? eg once a week? Ive read on dol heaps about people giving them to their dogs and its also in my puppy info booklet, but I'm just confused how its meant to be actually given. The bones seem very fine! Up to now shes been getting bones either in the chicken mince i get her from butcher ( but they are all chopped up) and chicken necks.
  8. Oh I am sorry to hear of your loss tikira . RIP Tippy Beautiful tribute and photo x
  9. Awwww how very cute, what a busy puppy you have been !
  10. This. Bless to have a husband who loves the dogs as much as I do and see the dogs as family too. Same here and also blessed to have a husband who is totally devoted to all our pets. I much prefer my pets company to humans these day, They never let me down! We have elderly family that are of ill health atm, and might not be with us much longer, yet im already starting to grieve more over our elderly Cav, as shes not doing too good, and Im more anxious about her leaving us
  11. ive already put the link up to all that savethedogs in my comment earlier ;-)
  12. i dont know anything about this place, but i have only heard good things about it, i did come across this just before via a friends fb stautus http://www.markmaldridge.com/MOOROOK-ANIMAL-SHELTER-UPDATE.html
  13. I always thought it was 8 weeks ? when my parents were registered breeders when i was a very young girl, they never let their puppies go to their new homes before 8 weeks, I think they were a bit older from memory.. (I asked my Mum when I saw her today, she said they didn't go to their new homes until they were are least 9 weeks old) BYB's around here often let them go at around 6 weeks
  14. Thanks Arjay, i did notice some of the sites mentioned in here have really good prices for bulk buying or if you set it up to buy off them more than once.. I haven't checked that side of things out yet, just wanting to see which one is the cheapest per pack of 3 for just now :)
  15. Joey humps his Mother Renae when he's excited about going for a walk, or when they have just come home from one, and on occasions when i have been getting their meals ready.. Renae usually just tells him off if he goes on too long (which he usually doesn't) Hes never tried it on with a person, and I can't recall from memory he's done it any other dogs. He never did it to our foster dog (female, she initially wasn't desexed) and I have not seen him even attempt to do it to our new puppy. I have no idea what he was like as a puppy as we didn't him at that stage. Hes not aggressive in any way. When he does it, I have told him off as soon as I have noticed it. Its not all the time. Hes had a dog do it to him at a doggy meet and greet years ago and he hated it . The other dog was just being friendly (and excitable) not aggressive. Miah sometimes plays rough with her toys, I haven't seen her hump them at this stage, but she gets on top of them and drags them around and tries to kill them. I haven't felt the need to stop her doing that. I guess if it becomes an obsession, you would be wanting to nip it in the bud fairly quickly!
  16. I've seen a couple of nicely behaved on leash ones getting around here without muzzles on.
  17. Some one at the puppy school we have started has one, and as much as i'm against puppy farms, pet shops and 'designer' cross breeds, it is very cute and very bouncy. Its even a red colour lol I wonder what colour is Julia's ? ;-)
  18. Thank you :) Thank you also Leighw :) Thank you luvsdogs:) Ive always loved the Tri's colouring the most, now I have finally got one ! The only reason we went with spelling it the way we have is because her registered kennel name is an Aboriginal one and means Happy Place, and we also wanted a name to go with Moon as she was born on a full moon, which it was on our Wedding Anniversary 8 years ago as well . Our house settlement was on a full moon also.. just that none of the names for full moon were easy to say or feminine (Its also an Aboriginal name and meaning). I have a thing for Moons, so Miah was th e most suitable name in our list. It can also mean dreams/illusions, and I actually dreamt of her birth the night before Her full name is Cooinda Moon Light Melody Miah
  19. Tango looks and sounds like a perfect puppy, He's beautiful !!! Yeah Ive noticed how puppies are still bit clumsy at times ;-)
  20. Hi and thanks Zeebie, I think ive worked out the cheapest within Australia for the one I want atm, and for a once off ( I don't want to commit at this stage) is with budgetpetproducts as also recommended in this thread . http://www.budgetpet...ctID=1038&cat=9 (free postage) I haven't compared the price to other size packs with the different sites yet, just the 3 pack for now. Which is why I only want to buy it once off until I know for sure which one offers the best deal ! My preferance at this stage is for Revolution, altho last month I bought a single dose of Advocate for her from the vets.
  21. Oh gosh, that doesn't look nice at all, poor girl Is her eye any better now?? I used to get little blood clot things in my eyes if i was stressed, had a bad headache or tired. They would always go away by themselves. They looked worse than they felt.
  22. Oh really! I give it to my puppy (the puppy and small dogs one) just once in a while as part of her proper diet, and ive tried the adult version with my other 2 older cavs, and they ate it up quickly it made their stools a little bit loose tho, and thats probably because they're not used to it..
  23. Thank you everyone for your very helpful replies ! I have quite a few to choose from now, and at much cheaper prices than getting it from our vets
