  1. Yeah it could be staph I will see what the vet says. It's definitely not fleas. Think it's either plant material or dead skin

  6. ok thanks Erny. Say i take her to the vets. Say she has a contact allergy, how do they work out what it is that she is allergy too? im sure it would be more to do with a particular type of plant or fertiizer in the garden, combined with humid weather type thing. As we havent changed diets and she is generally itchless when spending long periods inside
  7. anyone know what this looks like? its not a good picture but those little specs She is not that itchy but i think she might be rubbing herself on some kind of grass plant? I recently started rinsing her with the Rufus and Coco itch relief stuff and that has dyed some of her white hair orange and it makes the skin a brighter pink sort of colour so it is very hard to tell if the skin is inflammed or different or if its just dyed. its only on her back to bum area that there are the specs and the bright pinkness.
  8. anyone had any experience with getting a dog declared dangerous in WA. Not that i want to do this, i was just wondering how it works? Does the ACO have to witness the behaviour?
  9. ah thanks, so when did they announce it and when did they originally expect it the amnesty to end?
  10. its was really good to see some common sense discussion. Hey i didnt realise that there was an amnesty already set up in Victoria and they just brought the date forward to the 29th of September 2011, is that right melzawelza?
  11. anyway i had the lateral imbrication and the deepening of the trochlear grrove, and all went well. The vet says his arthritis isnt that bad. The first 2 weeks recovery was a pain with having the elizabethan collar on all the time but now its not too bad. He is 32 days post op and is fully weight-bearing and can gait almost normally. He can even run and jump on the couch (not that im encouraging this). The vet is wanting me to wait until 12 weeks post-op to do the other knee. But im thinking i could probably get it done at 6-8 post-op as he is only 4kg dog and most of the pressure of movement seems to be absorbed by the front legs. Has anyone heard of a shorter recovery time and/or doing a second op shortly after the first one?
  12. I thought a dog could be declared dangerous if it simply menaced a person or another animal? or is it different in victoria? and why would you want to make it harder for dogs to be declared dangerous? we want more dog owner accountability and less breedist legislation dont we?
  13. good question! im sure most of them are registred as amstaff X's and staffy X's.
  14. my feelings were that councils/local government dont enforce the current restricted breed legislation etc collars, cages, neuter. You never see restricted breeds with the fluoro collar. Just more legislation that doesnt work and wont be enforced.
  15. i thought the breeding of APBT's was already banned in WA. The article in the paper today also said "If the amendments are accepted, local governments would also have the power to declare a dog "dangerous". Dont councils already have this power under current legislation??
  16. ok but what im getting at is this. Do they seriously think a pedigree on a piece of paper includes a dog from being aggressive? Just dont understand the reasoning if they think all bully dogs are inherently aggressive why not papered amstaffs as well?
  17. what about the amstaff? a dog that is very similar genetically and in phenotype to APBT (correct me if im wrong). I find it very odd that the recent crackdown on Pit Bulls and X's in Victoria, excludes amstaffs. Not that i agree with it but going by their logic that appearance predicts behaviour, why didnt they go after Amstaffs?
  18. thats crap, does any one know if they have repealed any of the bsl laws in the uk that they enacted in 1991?
  19. a few call my papillons chihuahua's and pomeranian's i here a lot of people with Shih Tzu's pronouncing it shit zoo
  20. nice work emery. We just had the verge green waste rubbish collection. Its a lot of work with just a hand saw. I need a chain-saw :)
  21. This question says ignorance in big bold letters to me. The type of people who let their kids ride the dog like a horse? give me a calm, gentle child and my dogs will love them. Too much rough-housing, hugging and face-to-face contact and they will definitely growl or give a warning nip eventually. Unfortunately i've found not too many parents are concerned about supervising their children with my dogs when they come around here, mostly i think due to them being small they think they are incapable of doing any harm
  22. wow seems like you need a huge amount of land per dog, but the forrestfield area sounds a bit more lenient. I was thinking about moving to Bunbury area in the next few years, do you know what council Leschenault comes under and what their dog limits are?
  23. i was thinking about Luke's thread about councils that allow more than 2 dogs. Anyone know any councils in the perth metro area that are more relaxed about allowing more than 2 dogs? what about country wa areas? are they generally more accepting of more than 2 dogs??
  24. just out of curiousity how much is your life-time rego in nsw? and is it a lot more for entire dogs?
