  1. This whole thing would be utterly hilarious if animals weren't involved. You have to wonder what deal he has done with Lola to get his sorry arse back there. He would still be smarting after the smackdown he got publicly from Debra Tranter so has to go into damage control mode.
  2. There was some progress in tackling the issue previously, not enough but it was a start http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-05-31/live-exports-to-shamed-abattoirs-suspended/2738896 Talking about Tony Abbott in a topic about Tony Abbott abolishing advisory committees is totally on topic Rosetta.
  3. He is far more interested in business relationships than animal cruelty. He really does just pretend things aren't important if it might impact his Australia is open for business plan. It really makes me sick to think of what might go on now that the Indonesians know he will turn a blind eye to it.
  4. HW is right, pacing is an extra gait, not instead of a normal trot. Look at the leg harnesses that are used to try to keep them pacing.
  5. It doesn't matter what context, that is the whole point of breeding particular traits into dogs. You want that behaviour to be there when you need it and it will be there all the time because it has been selected for over many years. There are some very experienced people here who have tried to educate you, don't assume just because they haven't stated their qualifications they are just pet owners like you. You'd do well to listen to them.
  6. OK... Oh please right back at you. A dog is what we want it to be regardless of what it's been originally bred for. Consider nature vs nurture and re-visit the original question posed in this thread. So if I want my coolie to stop his interest in herding he'll do it? Can I get my shih tzu to herd instead of my coolie?
  7. Cutting advisory committees wouldn't be a concern with competent government, but with this one it is. Greg Hunt went to wiki for info for goodness sake, then we have no senior people attending the important UN talks on agreements on climate change. They really don't care about anything or anyone outside their circle of friends.
  8. Tony pretends issues don't exist, why would he want a bunch of experts to remind him. It's disgusting that he is disregarding the issue with live export even though fresh footage shows cruelty is still going on. But if you think about it he treats fellow human beings pretty badly so other animals wouldn't even get a spare thought.
  9. Why bother with expert advice when you can just look up wiki.
  10. It was inevitable, he tries to maximise his popularity so goes back and forwards on issues. Now more of Australia have been educated on him and she has been outing him publicly for his constant lying. I really want to know if she got the pms from fake profile treatment
  11. This is why I house sit for my friends, how can someone not move heaven and earth to search for a dog they are looking after
  12. Oh yes, she takes smartarse to the next level and all his tricks failed miserably  I hope someone has filled her in on his history, she has the power to squash his animal welfare aspirations totally. Go read her tweets for a laugh, you don't have to sign up for twitter to see them.
  13. Some pounds don't have the right scanner to pick up the chips as well.
  14. It depends for me. I could have ended up in the same situation. Had house sitters looking after my dogs, my shih tzu got out and ended up at the pound. Not only did his chip not get picked up he was listed as a female pekinese. If there was some genuine reasons I'd give the dog back.
  15. You might need a magnifying glass too for the little ones.
  16. Look at the underside of the tick, google will show you the difference between a paralysis and cattle tick, it's easy to spot once you have pictures of the underside of both.
  17. Well I'm about to start living in a caravan so I can afford to keep my dogs. If I didn't have them I could rent a room in a share house but I won't be able to afford to rent a house which is what I would need. They better be grateful
  18. Ahhh, the mange is clearly visible in pictures so I don't know what drugs that dude is on. Surely the council can act in this case
  19. The dog biting isn't the only danger, the guy who was being arrested could have taken the opportunity to attack him as well.
  20. So if they wanted to cut the numbers a bit the mechanism is already in place?
  21. Yes it's true, there are only so many eyes to go around some some miss out in big litters.
  22. I wonder if mandatory DNA testing for parentage on every dog and a tightening on numbers bred help? I am not a ban racing advocate but obviously would like to see less greys going down.
  23. If you search you'll find we have covered this in other threads.
  24. One of the best photography forums in Australia, lots of meet up and some really really good photogs. If you ask for critiques you'll usually get good advice. Good idea to go through and read the critiques given out of other photos. http://www.ausphotography.net.au/ A good FB group, some of our top photogs in Australia here and it's very friendly. https://www.facebook.com/groups/fapsc/ May as well spam my page  https://www.facebook.com/NyanyjaymiPhotography
  25. Read a few posts back, she is a friend of Lola's and moved into the property. Got into a fight with the neighbour who they blamed for dobbing them into the rspca. Lola and Ena claim it was over some loose cats on the neighbours property but Ena had been running her mouth about the neighbour calling the rspca. Ena is charged with assault, case still going.
