  1. All the questions above , plus: is this in much the same place everytime? Has anything changed recently in the area? Does he have any new collars etc on? Is he moving freely and happily when playing at home ?
  2. Hope you&Michael are doing OK ...it will be so hard for you both ....
  3. Police also lie their heads off - until they realise the incident was recorded. Fixed that for you. Hardly. In future please refrain from changing my quotes. I'd hate for someone to think I actually did say that and that is precisely the impression your editing conveys. Incident recording keeps everyone honest. If that's your point, make it for yourself. Police are people by the way, regardless of what you think. I'm sure everyone here would be intelligent enough to go back to your actual quote. ;) Not the point. Agreed! Changing someone's words, and then posting as though it is an actual quote .... :(
  4. Oh.. are you using vet prescribed animal dose cranberry ? Sorry to question if you are I just break open human cranberry capsules and use the powder ;)
  5. I am wondering how much cranberry you are using? She only needs a little bit - you could hardly see it . Even my cat will eat it in mince ..he weighs 12 kg ..and gets a small pinch . Are your vets specialist vets ? It might be time to try the The Companion Animal Health Centre ? being uni based..it has everything under one roof ..and different people to ask .
  6. I am hoping that he was taken home by someone ..... and is being cared for .....
  7. :) A thing you might feel is useful is to have her with you on leash ... that way she is still included, and has interesting things ,other than stitches/itchy bits where she was clipped... to occupy her .
  8. People also lie their heads off - until they realise the incident was recorded. I was being kind :p yes. they do.
  9. I also think shoulder cams are a brilliant idea .... so much can happen in a short time ..and people remember things differently .
  10. entry wounds can be very small and easily covered by a skin fold/hair ruff....they are only the size of the projectile , usually . The exit wound would be a bit larger, and probably messier . If there was one. With a police round, its not likely. it was said the blood was on the driveway..and in a photo I saw none coming from orifices, or the part of teh neck I could see , so I thought of an exit ...you may be right though...
  11. he's a lucky boy to be at home , where you can love him ,and the others can see him and say their goodbyes afterwards . Take good care of yourselves , you two ....
  12. I've only know 2 Newfs well- one was placed as a youngster as a live in therapy dog for kids suffering cerebal palsy .. where he was perfect :) The other was also a gorgeous dog - family pet , active & had a very competent owner . She would seriously bail people up at the front door - police or no ;)
  13. he will be reasonably content I think , poor little fella ..he will know he's home , and he can probably smell/feel Renae there .... but part of him is getting ready for a journey , and so that's what he'll be concentrating on right now ...
  14. entry wounds can be very small and easily covered by a skin fold/hair ruff....they are only the size of the projectile , usually . The exit wound would be a bit larger, and probably messier .
  15. Mmmm.. sheep heads , chopped in half lengthwise .. they go down very nicely :)
  16. I'd love goat but the supermarket near us has it next to the quail and rabbit and both are in the high double figures per kilo. Not that lucky, dog ;) I would love rabbit, but Masterchef has a lot to answer for to Gus. Haha. He's not getting a 20 dollar rabbit. ;) the advantages of living in the bush .... it's all fresh .
  17. The other day in our little IGA I found a couple packets of chicken feet , only around $2.50 or so !! I was so excited ;) No one else could quite understand ... frozen , the dogs enjoy a crunchy treat :) Our lot get a lot of raw - rabbit/goat/roo .. but novel things like chicken feet .... beef offcuts ..or turkey necks are always welcomed :)
  18. There , thankfully is that relief .... that is when the realisation hits - just how hard you were wanting to hang on ...how much energy was being used in willing and wishing and trying to avoid .... I have had many dogs & cats cross the bridge ..and practice doesn't really make perfect! I now tend to follow the advice given on here ..''better a day too early, than a day too late" Jules.. I hope there have been some special photos taken recently :) ..and I hope Miah misbehaves a little bit -just to bring you a smile or three ...
  19. not good . The panting can also be pain/anxiety, Jules ..not always heat related ...so the aircon might not help much, poor lad. It is just awful waiting for 'that' moment ,when the decision becomes real ..it is often much more wearing and emotional than after a pet has left us..and I find the longer I wait, the more of a wreck I become. I am sending thoughts and hugs .....
  20. I hope Juno appreciates the extra TLC she'll get now She deserves it :) It will be a relief ! It would probably be a wise move to use a long line on Hunter , and /or walk him on lead - no free running in parks until he learns some manners , perhaps ? perhaps ask in Training for advice from Stafford folk? This is important . He is of an age now when he will be feeling invincible ... ( think brave young men ;) ) .. and needs to be reminded that the HUMANS are the ones to sort things out - not him. while I'm here - perhaps have a read of these threads re: dogs/parks/other dogs LINK LINK ..and we do need photos ;)
