  5. Ok... here is the latest of the new companion , Buttons , a 4 yr old Koolie girl , who is -quote " exceptionally perfect" Thanks to everyone for their help :) and ....
  6. should have commented in the spirit of the O P ......
  7. oh .. hope dog found a good home :) Mum & dad tell the story of when I was a toddler ..and a snake was in the kitchen ..me standing at one end ... 'Plonk' , my ACD X "Nanny dog" was let in ..and then Mum had to spend hours cleaning snake blood & guts off walls ;) Plonk was an excellent snake killer, and did kill snakes in my presence more than once .
  8. Yes. Fingers Crossed that there are not many siblings of that snake!!
  9. Also remember .. .. his behaviour will continue to change as he realises he is there to stay , and as he forms his own new habits ..these habits may not be ideal However he has only a doggie brain with which to think ..so he will do things which upset and frustrate you . He can never understand things like humans do ..and therefore his way of dealing with confinement /stress/ excitement may seem a bit 'different' at first.
  10. ?? Young dog goes sniffing around , gets too interested in snake ..and snake bites during the fight.... Very Lucky dog ... Eastern Browns are what we get most of ..and they are NOT my favourites at all - very fast and agile .... Hopefully he doesn't repeat the act when no one's around to get him to a vet .
  11. Frozen turkey necks to chew :) or Deer antlers. start practicing N I L I F Don't let him run free in parks until he has mastered the manners .... lots of calm practice .. and educate your family/guests ;) Also keep dog away when visitors come .. introduce him on leash maybe ..and tell people to play like a dead tree ;)
  12. Have you considered a shadecloth covered area/run..and dog door ?
  13. I agree with Wsibs ..if you are trying to help him get trim, taut , & terrific .. he is indeed getting much more food than he needs. coprophagia can indeed be restricted to his own faeces ... and it may be a long standing habit .. or maybe something he has now learned in the hours he is alone ...Maybe the kibble is too rich, and smells good even after being eaten?
  14. Sounds pretty normal .. for various reasons .... You may like to try using pineapple in his food to help ... :) he doesn't do these things on purpose or anything - he's a dog . he is an UNKNOWN dog , at that ... he is confined, he is on a reduced diet .... he has had a LOT of changes and experiences recently , so things will start to crop up ...
