Bones For A Puppy Who Inhales Everything?
persephone replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
'marrow' bones ARE the weightbearing ones ...any long leg bone is. pelvis/spine/neck/ribs.... they're the softer / better ones :) A frozen whole turkey neck (large) should be fine ....also frozen turkey wings. My dog always used to throw up bits of marrowbone .. so I stopped using them . Whole Kangaroo tail would be best sourced from a pet food supplier . -
Koolie or maybe Koolie X ... very cute , and I love the markings!

Let's just hope she dropped dead beforehand .....

This morning for brekky she had a half dozen bantam eggs ;) a varied diet is essential :) -
Sorry about the split i go by the maxim ..start as you mean to go on . if you are away all day from the beginning ... then pup will get used to that . IMO.. being with him for 5 weeks then being away will possibly be very upsetting for him. a puppy also should have one room, or a large pen to be in alone ... or a backyard ... leaving a young man alone in the house ...welll.. puppies will find things to chew/places to pee / things to break Pup can be fed early AM ... have food left in a treatball or kong , fed on your reurn, then again late pm. 'housetraining' in this case , will be mostly getting pup to use an indoor toilet ...so if he is in a pen with a toilet area , he should learn easily :)

Awww, jelly .. Your gorgeous girl will drift off , feeling only your closeness and love , as she has for the past few years .. you will be the one with pain ..... please make sure you surround yourself with love & friends .... Thank you for letting us know .

Is there any reason that you cannot totally separate them ..out of sight? You will find that this removes the stress from them both ..and they eat at their own pace happily ..then, once you pick up bowls and scraps .. they can be in a communal area again . personally , I think it is unfair to have competitive pups/dogs in sight of others while eating .... ;) Sure I can give that a go... Even though I dont see there to be any issues while they eat? Feeding them out of sight may , in a while relax them both so they do not need to do this :) leaving his own food , and staring at her seems a bit odd .... esp as he will steal her food .

Isn't it a bit different though ... mature established dogs , as opposed to 6 mth old puppies ?
-
Another thought - what does his breeder say ? Have they seen behaviour like this ? When was this guy castrated ? You say he's six months now?

Yes, dogs are a pack.. That pack includes you. YOU are the alpha . YOU make the rules . Alpha wolves/dogs usually do not pander to another pack PUPPY by giving it food first/greeting it first - that sort of behaviour is what PUPPIES do to the alpha . This little squirt /bully needs some serious educating ... Have you read up on Nothing In Life Is Free ? I believe you should dedicate yourself/ves to starting this on a couple of days off ..so you can get into a good habit ..then continue it . It is fair and equal and the dog gets what it wants - attention/food/walk....without being a bully ;)

Oh... Run Free handsome boy ....

I suggest the usual vet .. she may have put her back out ..she may have had a loss of oxygen ...or something else .... Hope she is OK

How old is this terror ?

A Question On Dementia In Your Older Pets
persephone replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
Old Gert - now around 14 was always Mum's dog, and inside after Mum died, as usual ..... last year , as she kept toileting inside, and would also bark half the night at nothing we could find ..plus get very distressed ... I tied her up on the porch to sleep ..with a bed ..and there was never any more noise .. the odd wee during the night ..and she is calm . -

yep .. you know him .... stop & think if he generally gets a good deal of enjoyment out of his days - or does the time of confusion/distress outweigh it ... -
That's not really young .... Gosh , I wonder who she confuses with not putting her brain in gear before she speaks? .....
-
That's a worry :( Hope you find someone with some more experience !! Was this vet very young ?

Awww... wise words :)
