  5. Our dogs/cats get some of whatever outer covering their fresh food wears .. fur etc ..it works well !
  6. may I be so bold as to suggest that the AMOUNT and the carriers of oils may have a lot to do with it ? Someone who uses small amounts of these oils on salads, or to quickly cook meats , and someone who eats deep fried foods, baked pastries ...Hmmm now which one of those may be ingesting too much /rancid/chemically changed oils and risking their health??
  7. The OP doesn't want to use Yucca?
  8. yes- and lots of new things/training will probably do their work in helping keep her settled. What do you know about her? Why has she been so long at the shelter?
  9. just .... WOW. :) Love them. esp this one http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3744/9175402236_b972c7f123_z.jpg
  10. You don't need a lot of time or money to feed raw , IMO, it need not be a science project :) A variety of meats/bone/offal , and in the case of dogs, a small amount of veg, plus eggs, yoghurt and some cereal if you want .
  11. Ohhhh KoolieXgrey? CtahoulaX? Just beautiful!!
  12. She's been 'in prison' for 1/4 of her life! :) She will need slow & steady and astute rehab ... and if you only just met her friday , well, absolute home detention and baby steps for a while - it's a whole new world for her. nekhbet's post is excellent .
  13. That sounds great ! Hope it all works out . (I don't consider 25 kg 'big' though .. ? )
  14. :) Looks like he is wearing a cravat ! :0 I thought he needed accessorising
  15. Unless you are used to tethering dogs , and can anticipate what this girl will do ... it may not be the best idea . If she is unused to it , and reactive , there could be a nasty "rodeo type "scene.. or she could just lie down and relax ... how well do you know her? (yes, I am well experienced in tethering/chain training dogs ...)
  16. perhaps concentrate on getting her to respond to YOU /your voice etc , using whatever she enjoys . Don't worry about a leash just yet. sit ..reward. stand quietly, reward. look at you when you say her name, reward... walk backwards a couple of steps, call ...when she comes- reward ...lie quietly - reward .... Mind you, there is no way I would be using a halti on a dog like the one you describe ... it would be a martingale or Harness to avoid injury ....a no pull harness may be an idea... obviosuly let her get used to it inside,on leash in your yard , before going out :)
  17. ...and we need a happymac meal photo ;) That is all such good news!
  18. If there is no lift .... consider what breed of dog can cope with all those stairs . It rules out the long backed ones straight away, I would think ...
  19. Thank you for sharing .. Sam was beautiful , and it's useful to have someone's story on what happened...
