It must be just awful watching her beautiful face and knowing she is not able to use all those Border Collie skills unless at great cost to her .

My only advice is to begin communicating with the breeder NOW. The sooner you tell them the more they are aware of on regard to their other dogs. Just let them know what has happened. Hope the little one will be ok

"Oi!! No overtaking!" "ooohhhh.Oops :) "

Awwwww.... :) I think it is a very good thing I am having a companion dog hiatus just now .... otherwise I would be drooling :p

She is so beautiful!! :) :)

Just make sure Taj gets plenty of time AWAY from the pup - he doesn't HAVE to like her , and she is probably being annoying. Don't leave them unsupervised if you can help it .... make sure she goes to a vet in teh next day or two for a thorough check if she has not come from somewhere reputable. Also make sure taj gets his normal routine which does not include pup. Taj has had his life turned upside down.. you left to go away , there is a ratbag pup in HIS bed... of course he will be a bit upset :)

may I be so bold as to suggest that the AMOUNT and the carriers of oils may have a lot to do with it ? Someone who uses small amounts of these oils on salads, or to quickly cook meats , and someone who eats deep fried foods, baked pastries ...Hmmm now which one of those may be ingesting too much /rancid/chemically changed oils and risking their health??

The OP doesn't want to use Yucca?

yes- and lots of new things/training will probably do their work in helping keep her settled. What do you know about her? Why has she been so long at the shelter?

You don't need a lot of time or money to feed raw , IMO, it need not be a science project :) A variety of meats/bone/offal , and in the case of dogs, a small amount of veg, plus eggs, yoghurt and some cereal if you want .

Ohhhh KoolieXgrey? CtahoulaX? Just beautiful!!

She's been 'in prison' for 1/4 of her life! :) She will need slow & steady and astute rehab ... and if you only just met her friday , well, absolute home detention and baby steps for a while - it's a whole new world for her. nekhbet's post is excellent .

D'oh .. yes.

Unless you are used to tethering dogs , and can anticipate what this girl will do ... it may not be the best idea . If she is unused to it , and reactive , there could be a nasty "rodeo type "scene.. or she could just lie down and relax ... how well do you know her? (yes, I am well experienced in tethering/chain training dogs ...)
