You don't need a lot of time or money to feed raw , IMO, it need not be a science project :) A variety of meats/bone/offal , and in the case of dogs, a small amount of veg, plus eggs, yoghurt and some cereal if you want .

Ohhhh KoolieXgrey? CtahoulaX? Just beautiful!!

She's been 'in prison' for 1/4 of her life! :) She will need slow & steady and astute rehab ... and if you only just met her friday , well, absolute home detention and baby steps for a while - it's a whole new world for her. nekhbet's post is excellent .

D'oh .. yes.

That sounds great ! Hope it all works out . (I don't consider 25 kg 'big' though .. ? )

Unless you are used to tethering dogs , and can anticipate what this girl will do ... it may not be the best idea . If she is unused to it , and reactive , there could be a nasty "rodeo type "scene.. or she could just lie down and relax ... how well do you know her? (yes, I am well experienced in tethering/chain training dogs ...)
-
perhaps concentrate on getting her to respond to YOU /your voice etc , using whatever she enjoys . Don't worry about a leash just yet. sit ..reward. stand quietly, reward. look at you when you say her name, reward... walk backwards a couple of steps, call ...when she comes- reward ...lie quietly - reward .... Mind you, there is no way I would be using a halti on a dog like the one you describe ... it would be a martingale or Harness to avoid injury ....a no pull harness may be an idea... obviosuly let her get used to it inside,on leash in your yard , before going out :)

If there is no lift .... consider what breed of dog can cope with all those stairs . It rules out the long backed ones straight away, I would think ...

Sam's Story With Inflammatory Bowel Disease
persephone replied to LisaCC's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank you for sharing .. Sam was beautiful , and it's useful to have someone's story on what happened... -

What proof is there of human involvement ? How many ducks are being found? I have seen feral cats decapitate chooks to drink the blood .... An attack by a falcon can also behead a duck ....
-
Swans do fly ..maybe they were disturbed and have moved on to escape . dogs/foxes/cats/humans will kill ducks ..if they are native wildlife on a creek or something , there's not much can be done if the authorities are no interested.

:) Just saw the baby puppy photo in the puppy thread ! Very cute! What did the breeder suggest for Moses in the way of food?

:(

:) if your dogs are healthy , My suggestion would be to feed a good variety of RAW meats - red , white, plus oily fish like mackerel/sardines (cans) ..and lots of edible bone, like chicken wings/turkey necks/lamb flaps plus a small amount of veg/fruit :) ..that way they get a good variety of nutrients for all round health . Exercise is good to make the heart muscle strong, too :) Does your vet have any suggestions? (aside from feeding the commercial food they have on the shelf ;) )

Time out doesn't mean much to a puppy baby ....really ... if you don't want to use a leash/collar/harness ..you need to pick them up (reward) then place them somewhere ... and by this time puppy is confused as to why .... Naturally .being a genetic disease ..it is already there when puppy is born, but growth then makes its effects obvious nasty thing . Affected dogs are uncomfortable , and certain things like collars can then cause more pain . D O L is an excellent place to hang out - there are discussions on all sorts of things :) SM SM SM you have been given some good advice .... here's a few more ideas :) LINK LINK

3 flights up ? WHEN ( not if ;) ) your dog gets the runs ..this is going to be interesting are there lifts ? For leg injuries etc that would be good ..also. I also suggest a smaller dog , and an indoor dog loo!! there will also be times when you are unwell , and dizzy or sore, and cannot get dog out to toilet easily .... with an indoor loo a smaller dog will cope :)
