  1. Yep- photos of holes/dog coming/going/peeing etc.... then a note to council and landlord.
  2. lamb bones ... he needs to buy lamb flaps - or brisket..NOT leg bones - they splinter, and are too hard. Bones/flaps need to be large- so the dog has to chew& chew to get the meal ..not stuff that can be gulped down ;) Chewing helps start off the digestion ... do a search on here for B A R F ..you will get HEAPS of posts/threads... start with THIS LINK remember do it GRADUALLY . ..and not much fat at first ....
  3. I didn't realise she had not been vet checked yet . In didn't think it was worthy of a vet check?? A youngster who is pooing as you describe may not be getting all the required stuff from their food ...and at this age of growth , she needs every bit of nourishment. No good spending good money on food which a) is going straight thru, and b) is not being utilised IF she were mine- I would be trying her on BARF ..(introduced gradually over several days ) for a week or so - NO GRAINS ..then, if she is still having trouble, I would be off to a vet. I would put her on lamb , mostly - roo is a rich meat ... lots of soft bone like brisket/flap ..and perhaps turkey wings .
  4. our pups get some supercoat puppy and heaps of meaty bones . leelaa- if too much grainy food gets into the gut - it just has to go straight on .... things like meat/bones don't absorb as much moisture/swell in the stomach- and are digested at a slower rate .Faeces are usually MUCH smaller and firmer ... and produced less often. IMO ,You can overfeed without a dog getting fat .. if it is unable to properly digest/utilise what you are feeding it .. it won't get fat .
  5. No, really if she is active, and fully furred , then IMO she doesn't need a coat ;)
  6. Sounds good to me ;) I can't remember if you have ever considered feeding her a raw diet? anyway-- have a read of THIS THREAD
  7. She just looks like a leggy fit dog Certainly not skinny!! Most folks are used to seeing 'coffe table' labs .... she looks fine to me
  8. No idea- but she really should be at that vet- or another one Poor little girl. When did she have her vaccs? Sometimes, an injection can cause lumps .. but best to check with teh vet . Hope she's well again very soon
  9. There some discussions on heartworm injections HERE and HERE
  10. because you're not really at a point where you can cope with having a new pup? This pup is not a perfect match? I don't know... ... even if he finds somewhere with an instant and strong bond/attraction? Oh- and I have always either had a 'replacement' dog/cat in the wings , or replaced one I lost immediately. That's my personal coping strategy ....
  11. Oh,No :( What an absolute rollercoaster ride . Hoping SO hard that Indie does NOT get it,and that the little girl pulls through. BIG :hug:s to you.
  12. I agree with the thinking that the female will end up 'boss' . also with NOT feeding them within sight of each other. Feed them in separate rooms, or yards - and don't leave bowls down - that way there is nothing to fight for/over ;)
  13. Yes. Depending on your dog, its diet, where it spends most of its time, and general health .. My dog gets bathed maybe a couple times a year. he does spend a lot of time indoors ...has never had any sort of skin problem, ever ,has a shiny coat ,and the only smell is , of course, from his feet -as dirty sweaty feet do smell
  14. you have neighbours as FB'friends' ??? What sort of bark is it? if it is a lonely /agitated bark ..I would be a bit concerned that a no bark collar may make him more anxious, that's all ... Does he bark at the movement /sound of people? or is he playing with moving toys, and yipping? maybe get a recording of it - so you know exactly what it is you are dealing with ,first.
  15. The Long & The Short of it!! Nice to see your dogs! Thanks . Practice, practice, practice, practice..... ...and have this bookmarked!! :D CLICK With these- it looks as if your camera couldn't focus on them as well it it can ;) See the blades of grass just behind the dogs? How they are nice & sharp & clear? I do this a lot- get a bit excited, and forget that cameras have 'personal space' too!! Definitely spend coffee breaks reading the manual ..and take photos of EVERYTHING!! taking 40 or so photos of similar things in a session will help you and your camera to work together ;)
  16. Take alfie in a stroller???? Train the younger one to use a crate ..and then crate her while Alfie has his constitutional? I believe, from this description... she is herding him.. she is not 'keeping him safe'.... she sounds way too focussed on that little moving body.. and is in drive.... and my suggestion, if you can, is get yourself a professional consult..perhaps contact one of the excellent melbourne based professional who are on D O L ? there are a few from which to choose You're lucky!
  17. Oakway - Oh- killgallonklan - THIS THREAD is good reading - LOTS of info for a beginner .
  18. Oh... that Koolie /merle little face is just gorgeous. i am glad he's not going downhill ,and hoping he is soon strong and happy
  19. Hi - I'm not a breeder - but breeding for a hobby is probably not the best way to start off . In my opinion, breeding needs to be done because you KNOW (due to health testing and show results) that you have really good specimens of your breed ..and they have lots to contribute to the gene pool Hobbies are fun ..and can be on again/off again ... dog breeding is not something one can just 'do' .. To breed dogs responsibly I believe you need to do the education , and become part of the registered dog breeding community . You need to be very careful from where you source your dogs, too! There are folks out there who are unscrupulous/ignorant , and who will only see the dollar signs These are the 'breeders' who won't provide you with proof of pedigrees/health checks/registration ..and who are not available to 'mentor' you if you decide to do the hard work, and become a breeder. Will the breeder from whom you bought your pup provide help and information? Did you discuss procedures should your boy be found to have a hereditary disease/abnormality? Are they willing to take him back, if , heaven forbid , something goes wrong and you are unable to keep him? You also need to source your bitch from bloodlines which will complement those of your dog .......... not every dog & bitch combination will produce solid/healthy pups. Oh - and if /when you find homes for your litter - what procedures are in place to stop the new owners crossbreeding to produce more designer dogs ... which are certainly NOT needed in this day & age .. perhaps if you CLICK HERE and have a read - it will help explain things to you .... There is waay too much work involved for my old brain!! ;)
  20. Hoping for good news.... dear little face ...
  21. Trick Training /obedience drills/sandpit full of stuff to excavate ... remember - mental gymnastics will tire most dogs .. where physical exercise may not ;) Several shortish work sessions a day will help in settling a dog.. that and some frozen bones/kongs ....
