I would agree here, too- at 10, she is nowhere near mature enough to cope with these issues competently. -

Aggression When Walking
persephone replied to violetmay's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi. When you first posted and it was suggested you got professional help you said Sorry, but IMO, you and you dog need help NOW!! At the rate this 'aggression' is increasing- and your stress with it- There could well be a disaster happen by Christmas. You have time to walk the dog- so you have time to consult a professional Honestly- seeing a professional won't INCREASE your levels of brainwork- rather the opposite! -
No- my poor puter did the double post It's neither of those by the ingredient list. They are made by Lauckes- which have cooked meat/byproducts, etc. We use both, when there is no fresh meat available, and are very happy- keeps the weight on the working dogs ok, and is cheap

coconut meal? Seems like there is too much cereal/grain in that food...
-
Sorry they are so flat- hope things improve soon!

I would suggest the toys he has don't meet his needs. To avoid serious injury- he and the trees/bushes need to be separated, if possible :nahnah: Does he have lots of LARGE RAW bones to chew? Does he have KONGS filled with food to attack and chew? Does he have a strong soccer ball to chase and paw and chew? You may find that he prefers some of these more than others . if it is only one or two bushes which he favours- lightly spray the trunks/stems with a no-bite spray from the vets/pet store, or with water to which a few drops of either citronella oil or tea tree oil has been added.

Chicken Drumstick-raw
persephone replied to Keg n Merlot's Mumma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
They may be a bit small... is it just the bones? If they are a whole drumstick/leg- cut the meat off and give him that. if it is JUST the bone- I wouldn't give him them..... -
raw! Lots of flaps, chicken carcases and whole lamb necks
-
Well... this action by you and your family can actually be unhelpful If the dog is clingy, and anxious, and you cuddle and pet him, and have him on your lap.......you are reinforcing that fearful/anxious behaviour!!! IMO- he should only have cuddles, etc when he is being settled and happy!! Dogs are different than humans........ he may also be very unsure of where he 'fits' in the family... he may be looking to you for direction, but not understanding.. may I recommend you have a read of This and This One will give you an idea of how a doggy brain works and also THIS Breathe deeply........enjoy your "me' time, and also your start to creating a confident and secure little dog

he is a sook? or do you treat him as a baby? small, cute... I second the suggestion of getting a behaviourist in to have a look
-
Glad it has been found and helped along! Hope he reacts well, and with a slight diet change, and the removal of some hormones, has no more trouble!! . poor boy must have been so uncomfortable these past days

As said, if your bitches are speyed (hysterectomy) they will not show signs of blood, as they will not come into season.

*fingers crossed for him* he is at least now in the best spot he can be for the time being.. Hoping for news of something readily fixable tomorrow ...

LOVE the taps !!
-
There are some great ideas here :)And some fantastically detailed images! Must admit tho- I prefer the ones without dogs in- purely because the dogs distract me from the object listed as the subject ;) Love the bone biscuit in bowl
-
Hmm.. saw this old tap yesterday... caught it , as I liked the colours of the rust, and Wisteria bloom as a contrast. Taken with a fuji finepix 8000fd. focal length 30.9 exposure .001s aperture f/4.5

We don't use ivermectin on our Koolies, either. From memory... correct me quickly if I'm wrong ... It has something to do with the liver and the speed of metabolism... Sorry..brain has gone blank

How Do You Give Your Dog Tablets?
persephone replied to giraffez's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If the tablets are coated with a shiny coating, do NOT crush them, as they are meant to travel some way into the gut before being broken down. feeding tablets in food , where the dog won't eat is counter productive... I usually just coat the pill in butter/marg, and quickly poke it down -OVER the back of the tongue,. so he can't taste it . if the dog is small, use a little finger.. not your thumb or pointer ! -
Glad he's still happy may I suggest that chicken necks are a tad small for a lab pup? Try him on turkey necks instead .. whole- so he has to chew them well. Chicken necks are unfortunately the right size to be a temptation for a pup to swallow... they then can get stuck Their dimensions are similar to a dog's gullet/gut.... great for careful eaters/smaller pups - but I would use with caution on a lab
-
I would suggest , if you can't get him to a vet today,...give him the good water.. and no food for today... let his tummy have a rest. If he is bright & happy, don't panic.. but if he looks lethargic/uncomfortable, or the diarrhoea doesn't ease soon.. and especially if he vomits.. please get him to a vet ASAP. puppies can dehydrate very quickly

people tend to forget that dogs have very different food needs and tastes to humans
