Think you would pay to go and read the Australian Standard on manufacturing of pet food and stop spreading bulls^&^%t basically. It makes no commercial sense at all for a manufacturer to engage in any of those practices - from a reputation or cost perspective.

Meat meal is better than meat as the water has been removed from it.

I'm ok with Thailand ones from mainstream AU brands as I know the general quality requirements. Don't touch China made ones and had someone in pet industry manufacturing say the same.

I can lend you a friend for him who clocked in at 67kg yesterday....

Me too ! Me three! Same for me. I like the happy balance of wanting to hang out with me and happy to do his own thing.

Some dogs do need vitamin C supplement - when they are down in the pasterns or looking east west. It is also a vitamin that gets excreted if not needed. Further if you read this article then there is no sugar in it when it's used as a fibre - http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/beet_pulp_myth.htm - as an aside, Linda Arndt (the author) is highly regarded for her knowledge re diet. -
Ah yeah it's a Sun Bear

I agree Staffyluv! I choose my vet based on the service I get. The cost is secondary to that. I actually think its quite reasonable - around $50 for a consult and I'm always there at least 30 mins. By comaprison I just paid a dermatologist $270 for 15 minutes for me - and our vets act as our dog's GP, radiologist, dermatologist, oncologist, endocrinologist, orthopaedic specialist, surgeon, anaesthetist etc etc etc I think it's insulting to say that you 'train your vet' - I let my vet do his job and don't tell him how to do it.

The police are fantastic at what they do but they don't get in depth legal training so you're best to speak to a community law centre for advice rather than the police. My view is that a Do Not Knock sticker is purely for door to door people and does not override the legislative right for certain people to come to your door.

Meh - if both parties have clearly agreed and settled the terms of an agreement then signing is a mere formality and lack of a signature does not make it any less binding.

The focus should not be just on protein to fat ratio. You also need to consider the phosphorous and calcium ratio.

Gold Giving a lawyer a lesson in law was really quite funny! It can be. We gave the Ranger and the City Council Lawyers a lesson they won't forget. Lawyers are not God and some are not Saints. They also get things wrong, they're not exempt from human failings. Yeah we do get things wrong sometimes. But we get it right more often than unqualified people on Internet forums holding themselves out to be knowledgeable.

I'm confused here - arrested and charged indicates it was alleged you committed a criminal offence and the police prosecuted you. Then you say that you hauled their backsides to court - well that can only be done in civil proceedings as only the police or an appointed agency can prosecute people. So really that statement has nothing to do with your issues with your local council.

So you think you can go from the specific back to the general and make the case more explicit. I have a Barrister, I keep her because she takes my instructions and I take her counsel. She doesn't go around in circles and if she did I would find some else. Lucky you to have a barrister like that as the majority don't accept instructions except from a briefing solicitor. You must have complex specialised legal issues to 'have a barrister' that 'you keep'.

Thanks but you don't need to give me examples - I've actually had real life experience of standing in court and running such arguments before a judge. And you're still wrong - the law does not say you can use equal force. It allows you to use a reasonable response to prevent harm/ death.

Three interesting posts illumninating what (just my opinion) I think is going wrong in terms of dogs in the community. Dogs should be part of the family, part of family activities and allowed in many more places than they currently are. I would have taken one of my dogs to the polling booth with me, but I was going on to do a bit of shopping. There was a man waiting outside with a Staffy who was somewhat overweight, but that's not doggy's fault. I asked the man if I could pat him and he said yes and then followed it up with, "He's fine, looks can be deceiving." I thought it was so sad that he felt he had to defend his dog. We had a bit of a chat and doggy loved me ...... my doggy smells that is :D So because I don't see the need to drag my dog around all my errands etc then he is not a part of my family?? I spend a fair bit of time with my dog but quite frankly he is not my entire life so there is many occasions when he gets left at home to sleep.

Dogs are allowed in outdoor eating areas if there is a public thouroughfare. I've quoted directly from the Act from the NSW legislation website. They are talking about public picnic/BBQ areas I think, not cafes. Cafes are not public places as defined by the Act. Members of the public have no "entitlement" to use them. Huh. Cafes are on footpaths. The public has a legal right to use a retail business - 'entitlement' A retail business is required by law to open to the public for a certain number of prescribed hours. You might want to hold back on dispensing advice on a dog forum to dog owners about their legal rights when you have no idea what you're talking about.

What law is that Tralee? To defend yourself you can use such reasonable force as is necessary to preserve yourself from harm. It's about what is a reasonable response to the circumstances as the person in question perceives them. That's what the defence of self defence goes into.

Personally I would not leave my dog tied up outside on a fence with lots of people around and out of my line of sight. I don't get the need to take the dog when you go and do things like voting - I do dog things with my dog and leave him at home when I do people things.

Products For Dogs With Sensitive Skin
Danois replied to Kavik's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've been really happy with it. It is a bigger kibble size than current one and must taste better too. I've had my dog on it for the last 4 weeks. Thank you for the positive feedback! Will definitely be giving it a go! Ingredients list looks promising. Is it an Australian made product? I agree the ingredients look quite good. All PRO PLAN is made in Blayney NSW. -

Does Anyone Feed Eukanuba 'rottweiler'?

If you go to their website then surely they have the product information and you can compare the breed specific one against regular one?? -
Why? She is doing nothing illegal. Just because people here (which represents one section of the dog owner community) don't agree with what she is doing, does not make it wrong or illegal etc Not only that, forum rules say no unnecessary cross breed discussion.

No unsecured dogs on back of utes. Aus Road Rules also say no dogs on drivers lap. -

Ok fair enough  Also if they are in the boot of say an SUV or estate car, then it is better than loose on the back seats, but I just see so many people driving along with dogs half hanging out of windows without thinking of the consequences. I would not travel with a dog in the boot area of a SW or SUV due to risk of being rear ended - more likely that happen than a side on collision.
