  1. I know whose girls got second in Labs junior bitch and third in Aussie-bred bitch :D
  2. I was being sarcastic about one of the comments - obviously not clearly
  3. That's funny - some of the timeline photos on Facebook show concrete block stables just like at the Pound Round/STAR place. I'd swear they're the same heavy metal stable doors/bars. The photos are from back in Sept 2012 though, so maybe he was just visiting, and anyway management has changed out there since. It also looks like he's doing a lot of work with Staffy Rescue. Good luck to him.
  4. I liked the suggestion that any unwanted or tricky dogs should be sent to the army or customs I know some very high drive dogs have been picked from pounds for service work but not many. All those who fail any temp test should be made to serve their country - just like dole-bludging teenages - a bit of discipline won't hurt anyone :) I wonder if there really were five homes ready to take the five dogs that were euthed/murdered/executed? Had the homes met the dogs?
  5. Interesting. On LinkedIn it appears the owner has a Bachelor's degree, Animal Behavior and Ethology from UNE. Maybe there's more to it that I thought.
  6. I couldn't read the stories on the websites. The murder of English was hurting my head. That doesn't mean anything about his dog training skills of course, but perhaps his professionalism. ETA does anyone know the bloke? He says on the PetRescue blurb that he's worked at 'various Canine shelters'. ETA further I won't put this on my list of recommended rescue groups - I've just read the description of the dogs on PetRescue about rules limitations and boundaries and could hear Cesar's accent coming through...
  7. ... from 'murder' - poor sweet doggies. There appear to be so many wonderful big-hearted people with good intentions - there must be a way for ethical rescue to tap into this resource ethically!
  8. Make sure the crate is on a rubber/non-slip surface otherwise I reckon she's smart enough to push it away from the wall. Good luck Jelly. You and Roo are trying so hard, well done!
  9. http://www.blacktownsun.com.au/story/1371423/group-protests-over-death-of-dogs-at-blacktown-pound/?cs=12 Local councillors DO read the comments.
  10. Blacktown Star has a story but I can't get the link to work on my phone. I understand the local councillors do read comments so now is a good time to make one.
  11. Just noticed this group rescuing from Renbury and I can't find anything about them on Google, FB or PetRescue. Is it a new group? Or a new name for an existing rescuer? Renbury's pretty good at sorting ethical from others :) No controversy, I'm just always keen on reading about rescue groups so I can recommend them to punters if they're looking for a dog.
  12. Wow! Thanks for the links. I know my dogs could learn that footwork but I'm not sure I can - without tripping over!
  13. So sorry to read this beth. Hugs.
  14. The Rescue thread might read like code if you haven't been involved over the last little while. It is a complicated story evolving over a couple of years now. Hopefully the right story WILL become a news story.
  15. Sounds familiar! Certainly they get a lot of cuddles
  16. I just saw that on the PR page and was wondering the same. Time for locals to start writing letters to their councils (all those sending to Blacktown Pound) again, and to their local papers, to support the concept of responsible rescue! Actually, probably time to twit and FB about it too, as social media seems to be the weapon of choice for MN/PR.
  17. Excellent work Puppy! Sammy the black Lab boy is a bit older than you but he had a great day last Saturday. He discovered the shower door was open so he investigated Soap (why can't it be edible?) and a razor. He ran out with just the razor handle, took me ages to find the head of the razor with my heart in my mouth I hope you get to meet new people and dogs soon, so you can practice your wiggle!
  18. OT Who is Mark Aldridge? Strange tone to his 'post' or blog. I'm always a bit sus about people who call themselves 'xxx for xxx' without the CANDIDATE word in there - as if they're already claiming an official position representing the electorate. I'm off to google him, see what he's about.
  19. Tango is beautiful and does nice gentle smooches I think Tiger is a bit cheeky. Just a guess...
  20. Appreciated Pets1. For Caz's family's sake, it's all got to be right.
