  1. +1 I'm stuck for words again but you've been in my thoughts every day. Welcome back, we missed you!
  2. I promise I'm trying but having issues with username, password etc. My order for ten still stands, I'll keep trying later.
  3. Thanks He's certainly a happy boy! He's managed to splatter up almost every wall and piece of furniture we have! I've washed it in salt water, dried it as much as I could and he's suffering a toilet roll and sock construction that may not last long, but best I can do for now. It's just the last 5mm or so tip of his tail, looks red raw, can't believe how much blood comes out of it!
  4. My latest foster boy, a 5yo PB Lab, has damaged the tip of his tail somehow - probably through wagging it very hard and bashing it. It's bleeding enough to mark the walls, floor and furniture. Not pools of blood, but sometimes a bit of splatter as he wags. We've only worked out it's him this morning, but first noticed some blood yesterday morning. It's the very tip, and hard to see an actual sore. Does anyone have ideas or experience on how to bandage that spot, or wash it in something to clean the wound? The other dogs are helping to clean up, I'm not sure how long a bandage would last. Thanks
  5. Sexy? I find smart, compassionate, thoughtful people sexy, but not those who deal with petshops. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertain...r-1225888113331
  6. http://m.smh.com.au/world/science/tibetan-...00702-ztzm.html Tibetan genes fit for the high life Tibetans may have undergone one of the fastest bouts of human evolution on record: those having genes thatallow them to thrive at high altitudes and low oxygen rose from 10% of the population to 90% in less than 3000 years ... (maybe 150 generations) ...
  7. My two desexed girls are the same age, we've had Stevie since a pup and Jodie joined us as a foster failure when they were almost a year old. There have been two incidents of concern. One was when they were play wrestling and Jodie got her head stuck in Stevie's collar. It was terrifying for all of us as they both panicked and started trying to bite in self defence. We only leave them in breakaway collars since. We also saw one serious spat over hard bones. When Stevie was an only dog we would have a dinosaur bone on the go at all times. Bones are now fed separately and must be finished or are put in the bin if the dogs aren't being watched. Though there's been no sign of any animosity since that first fight. Stevie's the gentlest big dog and jodie's nervier but one third her size. They are best mates and Jodie will look out for Stevie when other dogs are around. It's something in the back of my mind, though, that their relationship will change as they age.
  8. In the thread in Rescue it's said that the poor dog is being cared for away from the pound, and family will need to be involved in decisions about the future. There have been a lot of offers of help.
  9. Seems there have been a few threads about this but they're hard to search because of the short name. Here's the most recent, and if you search 'k9natural' all as one word you get a couple more. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=198784 I couldn't get the food soaked but will try warmer water tonight. Now I've opened the packet we'll finish it, and maybe keep a couple of small packs in the cupboard, but I don't think we can afford it as a regular meal.
  10. Yes. Jed I can't find the words but others are saying it so well. You'll just have to face up to being an inspiration and a Hero.
  11. Our local pet food place has a new product, and the owner of the shop says his dogs love it. I'm not very good at doing searches on DOL It's called K9 Natural and it's from New Zealand, it's freeze-dried. Packet says it is 85% meat bone and blood, and 15% fruit, vegies, eggs, liver, heart, kidney, tripe and garlic. No additives or preservatives, no wheat, rice, grains, soy, cereals or gluten. Seems pricey for my big dogs but a good backup to have in the cupboard when I haven't defrosted the chicken pieces or have run out of tuna. Has anyone else here tried it? Or can point me to a discussion about it?
  12. Can someone in Brissie please record it for us? It's unlikely to be on in other states.
  13. LabX, KelpieX, Lab and Cat makes it tricky for wee or even to pour another glass! Must be winter. Cyn whatever happened to your face
  14. Very good Chewy. Best wishes and saddest sympathies Jed. So many are saying what I wish I could say.
  15. Dogs aren't getting them until the cat and I have finished with them! They're nice and warm and light! I got some strange foot embroidered child rugs, but because the bar code/lable had come off them I got them for $3 anyway. Do they last ok or does washing take the warmth out of them?
  16. Wonderful to see you back Jed. Hope you're being strong enough to let everyone help you! I'm so glad I didn't read this at work, they all still think I'm crazy for crying when I saw the start of this thread a nightmare's time ago.
  17. Sorry folks I think I got the last two in Coles at Roselands. Everyone's stocking up - the Reject Shop has run out of cat igloos!
  18. I wouldn't delete, just as long as people answer with some security in mind. I've just been reading so many articles about Internet and privacy lately, thought I should mention it. Then there was the thread about 'readings' - that was an eye-opener!
  19. It's always full. Email instead - [email protected] (I think - check her profile)
  20. I hate to be the downer here but didn't this exact type of thread get cancelled last time when everyone realised how many passwords and personal details could be collected?
  21. Thank you TDx for collecting some noice stuff for me (and of course thank you PetRescue ). Molly looks lovely in her 'adopt me' bandanna! Is it bad form to have Jodie wear the bandanna to start conversations, then say 'sorry she's not available because she's a foster failure but heaps more are at petrescue'? I'd love to be involved in Sydney next year! Gonna get me one of those (non-soggy) yellow dogs and set it up in reception at work! eta can we start some sort of breeding program to produce Tom Williamssss or does he have to be desexed for PetRescue? OH would say the same about Myf of course...
  22. Pet Food Plus on Canterbury Rd at Roselands has all the good stuff including rabbit Barf patties. Pet Barn at Penrith is a huge supporter of Labradog Rescue.
