  1. any lumps i take them to the vet rather be told i'm silly than worry myself silly could be a lot if dif things eg grass seed, abscess, insect bite, fatty growth, ect you would hope it is not a tumor at his age hope you get told you are be silly dfa
  2. hope it starts healing now lets us know if it helps dfa
  3. ohhhhhhh sandy and brett i'm so sorry fairy and you did the best you could do and you should be proud you fought on when others may have not our thoughts are with you dfa
  4. i would use something like paw-paw or something that promotes healing dermaclean lotegen to get it healed quicker antiseptic cream kills bugs but doesn't promote healing anyway you can protect the ear for a few days to give it a better chance to heal i know little dogs wear snoods and it you got a pretty color he would still look beautiful dfa
  5. mine don't bury them to scared someone else will eat them if they don't had my dachie dig up a sheep when we moved here that was gross with maggots ended concreting the spot so she couldn't dig it up in the wild they would eat gross stuff like that so it shouldn't hurt them but i wouldn't want any kisses afterwards maybe get those dried marrow bones so they don't attract the flies as much or give them new bones every few days and dig up the olds and dispose before the maggots arrive dfa
  6. i've had one with fatty lump turn to cancer but have had others that have just stayed fatty lumps not sure if the fatty lumps started the cancer or she would have got it anyway i would take her to the vet and get them to check wether the changes and normal or not paws crossed there is nothing to worry about dfa
  7. has anyone tried dnyomeat i brought it once to add the their food and found it was very high in fat it came in a chaff bag with plastic bag inside and said on packaging high in fat lady at the shop said it was really good only concern i had was once i opened the bag the mix contained potato chips ice cream cones some muesli stuff pellets and was thinking with all the junk food in it was it too high in fat dogs loved it but have been unsure wether to get more for them dfa
  8. sacro neospora and toxo are all basically the same they all could come from meat neospora is from cattle that has feed near sewage sarco is from sheep toxo from cats and feral animals they only way to tell the dif sometimes between the three is a brain autopsy all three act the same and are grouped together we fed human grade meat to the bitch i was talking about which i also ate myself and she and i both ended up up sick so any meat that comes into this household must be frozen first and no medium rare anymore for me we went through everything it could have been and last thing we thought of was the meat but i still had some in the freezer(ate half fresh froze the rest) sent what i had left to be tested and it was the cause my partner ate it but wasn't sick he likes his well done but it also comes down to how strong you immune system is as well from what the vet and doctor said most people come into contact with these things and the body just makes antibodies and they don't even know they had it but young elderly and immuno compromised are most at risk dfa
  9. i had a preg bitch that started to get sick into vet high temp bit gunky in the rear thought she had pyometra de-sexed vet wasn't sure when he took her uterus out it was pyometra so sent it away for testing she actually had toxo not pyometra it is like a virus so symptoms could include temp vomiting off food lethargic runny poo etc. but can be lethal to young old and immuno compromised dfa
  10. i always feed dry food thought it was easier than raw until i changed to raw i save 200+ a week they are all putting on weight that they wouldn't on dry theirs coats are a million times better and they get one feed a day not two and there is less poop to clean up raw for me is a winner and so much easier i would ask your vet if they could be a way to go you will actually be surprised how much easier it is to feed something like chicken frames compared to dry hope you little one starts feeling better and the first ingredient on the list is the higher content
  11. the girl i was talking about was c-sectioned as well then at 24hrs old crawled and snuggled under mums boob and stopped breathing for about 30secs and had to be helped back i would try to get some more stimulation happening no just human but anything that will get her used to things moving around her if you picture a whole litter there is normally someone wriggling on someone else or sucking or biting on ears legs ect. my first handed reared pup was a right little miss she was always with me never growled but grew up very indifferent to other dogs loves people and is a nutter for attention but will not listen to anything you ask her and drove me batty on a daily basis she ended up being my best friend and more like a child to me but never did she act like a dog so now i am more for trying to make everything as natural as possible which can be impossible at times hope she settles down and stops growling for you dfa
  12. Bulldust was this a natural birth or a c-section is there any chance it lacked a bit of oxygen during birth or has had an infection on the brain? i have known one pup to do this it lacked oxygen and had to be helped at the start and was a total nutter as it got older it would growl at anything as it never knew any other way to act that part of the brain just didn't kick in properly she lives with her mother still and is fine with her but mum puts her in line and has done from day one but and other dog she will growl then if pushed wets herself and basically doesn't know how to act now if she growled at the wrong dog she would be in trouble but on the other hand if she was a bully and acted like that i would be worried that later if pushed she may not just wet herself basically if you are hand raising her all you can do is try and do what mum would do (put her in her place) i would get her interacted with other dogs as soon as she is old enough or if you can find pups around her age when they are in a litter mum nudges and other pups climb all over them and they learn to accept that is the norm now if she doesn't get that and is not interacting well with you she could become very dog and human shy which may turn into growl in fear and other bad behaviors maybe try one of those toys that move or vibrate when knocked or touched put it in with her and if she touchs it during the night it will do something it may get her use to having other things move and do things around her one more question is it only you she growls at or anyone who touches her dfa
  13. freeze the meat before using it will kill those types of viruses sarcocystisis and neospora (hope they are spelt right)come from sheep and cattle and are very similar to toxo and my vet said to freeze or cook meat before using it to kill the viruses dfa
  14. now i'm totally lost what do i need to change to
  15. don't know if this will help you but i use hygain RBO oil it has omega 3,6,and 9 i give the dogs 5mls on there dinner dfa eta 5lt cost me $38 and i also give it to my cat and horses
  16. personally if it was me and it caused her no discomfort i would not put her under again if she was happy and eating i would just leave her and enjoy the time she has here and not put undue stress on her if she doesn't need it but i would also let the vet have a look at the lump just to see what is going on hopefully it is something minor that needs no major attention dfa
  17. has she been i season yet? could she have hormonal hairloss? dfa
  18. for a contract to work you both have to be happy and willing to commit to the agreement take into account if your circumstances change (eg. move interstate can't stand female cycles and want the dog de-sexed asap decide you don't want her to live somewhere else for maybe 3-4mths) will you still be able to hold up your end what if the dog doesn't turn out show or breeding quality or doesn't pass testing is she then yours forever or will you have to pay some adjustment i know getting a new pup is very exciting and it is hard not to look at all the positives you will be getting by having this pup but if you are going to enter a contract look at everything that can go wrong and if the worse case scenario is something you can deal and live with then work out a contract with the breeder you are both happy to abide by only advice i can give is think about it and try not to let your heart rule your head too much can't offer much advice on the contract and prices all my pups are sold as pets first and if i think something is good enough and i can't keep it i give it to someone interested in showing and to have some fun with then if it doesn't turn out show quality they haven't really lost they still have a beautiful pet for free and if it does do well for them we both win my babies are out there doing well and they have a show dog they didn't have to pay for best thing to do is talk to the breeder be upfront in what you are thinking honesty is the only way to go in these situations dfa
  19. i know high protein causes skin problems in my dogs have they had there kidneys tested could they not be getting rid of the protein properly? if they have had kidney test what was their upc and did the ultrasound show and cysts? dfa
  20. Whoohoo i love junket works a treat for car sickness never thought to give it to the mums must try that dfa
  21. if i'm out of normal feed and they have to have dry i put bio-lac food supplement(white label not the milk powder) or petvite over the top of it and some RBO(hygain) which is an omega 3,6,9 oil dfa
  22. i use a pretty pink double cat bowl with the anti spill edging around it i find it stops them walking through it having the lip around the edge i usually mix farex and wombaroo up them show them the bowl and they soon get the hang off it i just make sure it is really shallow to begin with otherwise the stick their whole face in it and get it up their nose and after they get the hang of it i'll start increasing the amount in the bowl over the next few days so eventually i can leave a full bowl for them some take to it like ducks to water and others need a bit of TLC the get them started good luck dfa
  23. if you feed offal then you need to worm for hydatiads dfa
