  1. sorry for the OT but how do you tie yours to the roof Erin? I have roof racks and have often thought of chucking the gazebo up there. Hubby has to come and loves showing me the knots he learnt at scouts. We just use some rope and he ties it down pretty tight. We've driven twice now with two deluxe gazebo's on the roof racks from brisbane to sydney and back. From one side of the gazebo around the roof racks, over the gazebo to the other and tied around the racks again. I've complained to him a few times about the gazebo frame being twisted because it's tied down so tight.
  2. What about just the standard oztrail gazebo? It's 3x3, folds up to fit in the boot and easy for one person to carry. Comes in a bag with wheels and a handle. They are a little bit trickier to put up on your own, but my husband and I can do it with ease. I bought this one so if I do a show on my own, or with my mum I can still take a gazebo and put it in the boot. Our large delux gazebo has to be tied to the roof and I'm too short to do that.
  3. Yes, Liberty co-owns the litter sister (Ch Baldev Legally Blonde) of my young bitch (Ch Baldev Blonde Bombshell), bred by Sara Skinner (Baldev Beagles) and HilaryO on this forum has the dam. She isn't from WA, she is from NSW and is in partnership with her mother and grandmother as part of Nangunyah Beagles. Good luck to Liberty and Ryot! Go team Beagle!
  4. The easiest way that I understood it was, at least 25 of their points must be obtained after 12 months of age to total 100, or over 100. I also had the same thought as you, but soon realised I was wrong.
  5. Can I also add that you will stress more than Daisy will. I was petrified flying Abby, sat in the terminal and watched her get loaded onto the plane. Stressed the whole time at any bump or turbulance in the plane. On the other end, Abby was fine. Glad to get out of the crate, but wasn't shaking or in a state at all. I was the one in a state
  6. Another baby!! You're hooked! haha. Can't wait to meet Aria
  7. Is Abby still a rising star for 2011? I'm not sure if this is just for puppies, but she's still my rising star With only a few shows left in Junior before we move to intermediate, I'm very proud of what Abby has achieved so far. Placing in two of the three specialties in Sydney of the Easter weekend. Last weekend getting BOB over her half brother who is a Gr Ch and a BIS winning boy (whom I love), and getting short listed for group and Junior in Group. I'm hoping I can get her showing better without the pulling. I just love this photo of Abby from the specialty: All these new babies are very cute! Making me very puppy clucky, especially with all the beagle babies around at the moment.
  8. Yes, were you happy with the scoring? My xrays are heading down to Dr Rawlinson next week.
  9. There's tonnes of parvo cases all over Brisbane.. Time to be extra vigilent with where your dogs go and who they are socialising with.
  10. I've been informed by Dr Wyburn's wife that he will not be returning to read radiographs. She suggested that I send my xrays to Dr Rawlinson in SA.
  11. Hrm... I'm not sure if it's the bicep tendon, but my girl has a pulled tendon in her shoulder. I was told it's the only tendon in the dogs body that goes over two joints. She's been given a homeopathic injection of traumeel into the tendon, then two weeks later, the vet was very happy with her progress and she's not on a traumeel tablet morning and night. I'm going back again tomorrow afternoon to see what he thinks. I was told 6 weeks recovery. I haven't really crated her, but tried to keep her quiet. I haven't shown her for 4 weeks, will be 5 this weekend and I'm hoping this is enough to heal it. When we went back two weeks ago, he was very impressed with how much the swelling had reduced.
  12. I've always had it done with mine, just so you also have a base line to look back on for results if you need to.
  13. Oooh, if I get a chance, I might go for a walk. But I dare say I'll be glued to the camera all day unless my hubby decides to take over!
  14. Is the whippet show at Castle Hill on Good Friday??
  15. I'll be at Castle Hill Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the beagle specialties! Not long to go now!
  16. I've just rung AAE and apparently they don't open until 7am on Sundays, which really doesn't help me because the early morning flight is 6:10am and the next one is double the price. I'm not keen to pay that. I'll need to ring Virgin Blue and query them on their opening times and what happens. Either way coming home she has to go as frieght, so I'm open to booking a Virgin Blue flight. Virgin Blue are probably easier to get to from Brisbane airport as they are on the way out of the Brisbane Airport.
  17. So if you fly Qantas, that's AAE isn't it? Thank you DBT for that information. I will give them a call when I have a chance.
  18. One of our girls lies with her legs out, we call it a fragle. Someone commented to me one day at a show that her lying like that "is a sign of good hips". I said "ahh, she's actually got mild HD". The only way you can tell if your dog has good or bad hips is if you xray. My show girl lies like this all the time... she's getting xray'd in late April.
  19. Hi All, I went to Adelaide for the beagle national in 2009 and I remember there being a lot of discussion about getting dogs in an out of the airport as they have to go freight. Can anyone confirm what the arrangements are with the flying of dogs in and out of Adelaide? From what I understand, I can lodge my girl as luggage in Brisbane, but she will go to Freight in Adelaide. Coming home I have to lodge her as freight in Adelaide... but does she come out as luggage in Brisbane or as freight? Also, does anyone know the times freight is open in Adelaide? Specifically Saturday and Sundays. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Erin
  20. Last year the groups were done on the day your group was being judged. Then those winners of group had to go back on the Saturday for General Specials.
  21. Stupid girl has pulled a tendon in her shoulder. She went lame a month ago at a show and I'd also noticed that she kept moving her left front leg everytime I stacked her. Took her to Rowan and she's pulled some tendon, apparently the only tendon in the body to go over two joints or something. He said it will take 6 weeks of rest to heal. I said you've got 4 weeks, fix her! We are off to Sydney over Easter. We go back to see him again on Monday for another injection, then again on the 14th April. Bloody dog! I'd rather rest her now and make sure she's good for Sydney, than push her through these shows and she not be moving properly at the specialties. She's been out of the ring over two weeks now. I'll show her the weekend before we leave and see how she goes.
  22. I'll be going up on Friday. My girl is entered, but she's injured and I won't be showing her. I'll be going up to take photos though!
  23. I guess that would explain why I haven't seen it. I know!! I've just entered Abby into the NSW beagle specialties and she's one dog... entered in one class and two properties! Ouch
  24. This is something I never knew, after going to shows for 3 years, one of those showing my own girl, I only ever saw dogs entered into one class. I'm gathering it's not a common thing? When looking at the beagle results from crufts, I noticed there was a dog that was entered and placed three times. He came 2nd in his first class and 1st in the other two classes. But can I assume because he was a beaten dog in that first class, he couldn't go in for the challenge? Is this a common thing? I can't say I've seen it in our breed. I just thought if a dog was entered, it was into one class and that was it?
