  1. We put toads in a plastic bag and put them straight into the freezer. We are lucky that our two older girls don't care about toads, but our puppy is most fascinated. They usually seem to disappear through the colder months, but as we've had a warmish summer this year, they were out the other day when it was raining and our puppy thought it was great fun. I let her chase after one so I could correct her behaviour, and we then went around and picked them all up. I just have no idea how they get into our yard! our fences go from under the ground to 6ft high.. How the hell do they get in!! Not just big bastards, but baby ones too. We patrol every night in summer, so I really don't think they could live in our yards until they became big bastards.
  2. Very happy with my monkey today, not a huge brag, but she won a Bitch Challenge over some older bitches, one a grand champion! She's now over halfway to her title and maturing very well! This is a photo taken of her a few weeks back at a show at 8 months:
  3. I'm not sure if there is another topic about this, I did have a quick search. I've just found information that I thought everyone who feeds Eukanuba should be informed. The paste below is straight from the Eukanuba website - http://www.eukanuba.com.au/en-AU/product-recall.html

  5. Going by last year, yes it was just first in first served.
  6. Have been informed by the RNA that all dog numbers are wrong again! And new numbers will be given out on the day Really? I got number 666
  7. I used Dr Bruce's All Natural Omega Blend. I just put a glug (nice term oakway! :D ) on my beagles food. I started putting it on her food when she was really itchy. I'm going to continue through winter and hope we come out in summer with no itching as she'll be older then. Someone also complimented how good the condition of her coat is on the weekend. I also mix in fish with her food a few days a week.
  8. I have two desexed bitches and one entire bitch in this house. The two desexed bitches are sisters from the same litter and we've only just this year added another to the pack. She'll be kept entire as she's my show prospect. So far we've had no issues, one is the dominant one, the others don't care, especially the younger one. What happens during/after her season remains to be seen, but we also matched their temperments and I'm not expecting any issues. All three are beagles.
  9. Abby has had 3 x bitch challenges and one best of breed and is well on her way to her title! She's now on 21 points at 7 months. I'm pretty proud of my little monkey A photo taken a few weekends ago:
  10. Hopefully they'll see the Show Secretary, Northern Classic Kennel Club on the front and put it in the right box
  11. What happens if we've already entered it? I'm hoping I did put 1435 on there..
  12. Hey wha? I leave three beagles inside all day! One being left inside since she was 4 months old. Never had anything destroyed from inside. But we do get quite a few palm fronds, sticks, trees and branches inside. They've never destroyed a thing. The two older girls have been inside all day since they were 1. They are now 3.5yrs old. Puppy is now 7 months old. It's another story when a foster dog entered the house.... Yes... this was the same dog. To say I was happy to see him go was an understatement!
  13. My girl does. She goes spastic in the trolley when she see's her mum or sister walking towards her. I was getting her out of the trolley one day and she escaped my hold and just ran straight to the trolley her mum was in because she wanted to say hello to her. I think her mum remembers her too because she plays with Abby a lot differently to the way she plays with my older girls and other beagles. I don't know if that's because she sees them every week? Who knows, but it's cute
  14. This one looks a bit like a drawing/painting! Gorgeous photos
  15. Does anyone know of somewhere overseas to buy skechers? I was a size 9.5, but Australia only seems to bring in full sizes. The 9 is just a little bit too tight and the 10's are too big. I'd love to know of somewhere overseas where I could buy a 9.5!
  16. I was going to suggest blockage, but you'd already gone to the vets again anyway. A friend of mine has a puppy who had the same thing, vomiting but no runny poos. She took her to the vet and was given some scourban for an upset stomach. The pup continued to vomit and then had diahorrea. She got home one afternoon to find the pup lethargic and in her own diahorrea/vomit. Rushed her to the vet and they did an ultrasound. She had something in her stomach that came up on the ultrasound. She spent the night being stabilised in the emergency centre and then sent back to the vets for surgery to remove the object. It was a button. But, what made everything worse was the button was "made in china" and they are suspecting it had zinc in it. So, she had the blockage as well as zinc poisoning. After 5 nights in the emergency, her red blood cells stayed stable and her blood started to clot again and she was let home. The button had been in her stomach for a week and had started to disolve. The owner only knew it was a button because it kind of resembled the others on her jacket. After ringing the company that made the jacket, they advised they have no idea what materials the buttons are made from because they are sourced from China. It was a huge expense that is a result of a mis-diagnosis. I'm glad you trusted your gut and went for another opinion. I'm sure he'll be fine! The dog above was so sick because of poisoning, not the blockage.
  17. I'll be there on the 7th August. More going for experience for me and Abby. She's never shown indoors before with all that noise and amount of people. So it will be interesting to see how she goes! My first royal as an exhibitor!
  18. Congrats MTD!! So you have to work through the classes to be a field champion? The beagle club lurecoursing day was on a few weekends ago and our girls did a good job again. But unfortunately we too have a show tomorrow My little puppy did an awesome job too! I can't wait until she's old enough to compete! Sally got a score of 170 and Leia a score of 169. Not bad for their 3rd time doing it!
  19. I'm heading out to training tonight with a beagle that's been sent to me from Melbourne to show for two weeks (mainly the specialty). Anyone else going?
  20. I'm pretty sure I've still got it at home. Let me know what you'd like me to look at.
  21. Go Ashley! The basset people would probably love a helping hand as they sometimes need extra handlers. If Abby was a little bit older, I would have offered her. She's been a bit weird in shows lately where she will do everything fine until we are in a line up and get up to walk out of the ring and she freaks out. I've been trying to be very positive with her and offering bait. She's fine when we start walking out. It's just that initial bit of everyone getting up and starting to walk that she's freaking out at.
  22. I've been reading this thread all day, but still don't have anything I can say. How bloody aweful Jed - thinking of you.
  23. They put this new "rule" out not long ago, molasseslass said April Dogworld, that nothing is to be set up before 6am on a show day. Michelle - That's why I rang, seems logical to set up tomorrow afternoon and leave it for Sunday morning.. but the cccq said we aren't allowed when I rang today. I don't think I'll bother with one tomorrow night, will just set it up on sunday morning.
  24. Yay Cat! Well done! The nervous do start to go away. I only pee like twice before I go in the ring now. Haha. I still do get nervous, but once I go into the ring, I forget I'm nervous.
