  1. If it keeps a little dry today, there will probably be show training on at Durack tonight! I was thinking of going if the rain holds off most of the day. I figure having them on the wet grass isn't a bad thing. It will get them used to it!
  2. My girls will always be my puppies, even if they are 15 years old.
  3. There's an all breeds show on tonight out there, starting at 4:30pm. There is also one on the 14/3. I'll be at both :D
  4. I was wondering this same thing, we are going to Sydney for four days over Easter (driving down) and I have been wondering how we are going to keep my girls raw meat cold. I was thinking of thawing it a bit, mixing in their glyde powder, then freezing again in bags for each day. We are lucky that we only have one day without a freezer (the day we drive down), so it'll only be 10 hours that we have to keep it cold and/or frozen. I was also thinking the dry ice option in a esky. I'm not really a fan of putting them onto kibble for the four days because I don't like the thought of them maybe getting diahorrea or what ever whilst driving all that way.
  5. Thanks for the responses, I'll give them all a call and try and organise something.
  6. I'm just wondering if anyone can offer suggestions on places that we can look at for purchasing a show trolley. We've looked at c crates, but the maxi is way too big to fit into our boot and the others I think will be too small to fit three beagles. Do any places make a show trolley to specification? If we give them the dimensions we want, will they make it to that? Thanks
  7. I have two girls from the same litter, both desexed at 6 months, one week apart (don't ask, was meant to be the same day). One now has hormonal incontinence and is on stilbestrol, the other.. I'm suspect about. Any other bitch that enters my household that's not a show dog will be desexed after their first season. Just my opinion from my personal experience.
  8. I've entered all the open and champ shows I can between now and Easter because I'm heading down to Sydney for the beagle specialty and I want as much ring experience as possible for myself and Abby. I was thinking of doing the Sunshine Coast Kennel Club show as it's the weekend before Sydney, but I'm still not sure.
  9. It should go through quickly. Apparently the memberships get processed on a Friday (what I've been told). I sent my form and money off on the Wednesday and had the membership card the next Tuesday.
  10. Are there any camera bags that will hold 2x DSLR's, 70-200mm, 24-70mm, speedlite and room at the back for a 17" laptop? I'd prefer to put everything in one bag, rather than having to carry a laptop bag around and the camera bag.
  11. First time owning a show dog here! My 2010 goal is to get out there and learn as much as I can about showing and hopefully along the way have a few wins with my new beagle bitch - Baldev Blonde Bombshell "Abby". I've been going to dog shows very often over the past 18 months, so it'll be nothing new losing weekends to dog shows. Now, I'll just have my own dog to show! Very excited and nervous about getting out there with her. Her first show is the 20th February.
  12. I tried to get Andrew to take photos last night, but he didn't want to. I can't do them myself
  13. Will have to make it to a show in Brisbane this year to come say hi. You will! Specialty in June? Or NSW Specialties at Easter!
  14. Abby's registration has come through, so she is officially known as Baldev Blonde Bombshell. Her first show will be the Beagle Club open show as she's been entered! How scary. I want to try and get as much ring experience for me and Abby as possible before heading to Sydney for the Easter specialties in April.
  15. I've been trying to think of something to say, but you're right, there are no words. My heart is breaking for you. ;)
  16. I just think I'd feel more comfortable being at the open show where I know (mostly) everyone and I don't feel there's as much pressure on myself as there is in a champ show, whether it be specialty or all breeds. Thanks! :D
  17. It's extremely cute, but I've been told I'm not allowed to let her do it
  18. She's already pretty good on a lead. I started off with a material collar and put a thin check chain on her today. She trots along lovely on a lead without a worry about it being there. Although, she does try and grab it to put in her mouth and walk along. I'll be buying a proper show chain and lead this weekend when we head to Durack. I might just start doing some proper lessons with the breeder and hope she'll be good in the ring for her first show!
  19. Yeah sorry, how old do puppies have to be to go to show training. I gather it would be 12 weeks.
  20. Do puppies have to be a certain age to participate?
  21. It's the open show, I thought that would be best for me to start at! Then progress up from there. They will all be 14 weeks by then. She'll have two of her litter sisters in the ring with her, but one's a lemon and one's a tri. Is there a need to go to show training if the breeder is helping with training in stacking? We practice every day with standing and stacking. She's very good on a material collar and lead and I'll be grabbing a show chain and lead next weekend when we go to Durack. Anyone in QLD know when the show training is on at Durack? I've got 2 months to get some confidence up, the NSW beagle specialties are in April and we'll be driving down to take photos and enter little Abby. You'll probably all think I'm crazy, but it's been a huge emotional battle for me to decide to get another one. Hubby isn't too convinced, but hopefully she'll turn into a wonderful girl who will do some winning occasionally. We'll just have to see how she grows.
  22. I'll come out of the woodwork. I've bought my first show dog which I've had on trial for a week to see how my girls got along with her. They are really good with the new puppy, it's just my lack of sleep that's hurting! Baldev Blonde Bombshell "Abby" Her first show will be the beagle club open show on 20th February. It's four weeks away and I'm already shitting myself!
  23. My girls were on the big side at 14.2kgs each and as one has HD, I decided it was time to get some weight off. We swapped to BARF and haven't looked back. They are maintaining a weight of 12.5kgs each and look fantastic. I'm also for you swapping to BARF and trying to get weight off.
  24. We took some 8 week shots of them on the weekend. They are exactly 8 weeks today. The boy has gone to his new home, but Hilary and her daughter are no closer to chosing which girls to keep. Big lemon girl Tri Girl Tan Girl Little Lemon Girl
  25. Thank you and Sara and most importantly Macey for allowing me to be there. It's a shame it wasn't a natural birth, but you got the end result of 5 gorgeous puppies and a healthy mum. I will never forget the sound of that panting... Poor Moo!
